This used to happen a lot with the ice cream shop I was working in. Mostly because the toilet outside cost a dollar to use. But everytime I told them no. One threatened to crap in the store once. I told him if he tried it he would clean it up. He started grabbing his belt, so I grabbed the hammer we use to clear ice and walked around the counter. You'd be surprised how quickly people run away when you look like you're gonna beat them up. Never threaten them directly, that leads to lawsuits.
Using a store's bathroom as a home for free is a way better deal than paying $1200 per month for a one room apartment. I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried this IRL because its genious.

During the 2020 pandemic, where I worked at, the amount of people allowed in the restroom at one time was limited to a minimum capacity, so we either had to hold it and wait until the line died down or come back at a later time. Let's just say I almost died of constipation during those times.

I can’t speak for new zealand but under most jurisdictions it takes a while to establish said residency somewhere. More than a few weeks.
