In today's episode of Submodica, we'll be taking a look a mod that makes vehicles require an additional upgrade in order to produce oxygen as well as one that transforms the bottom of the void into a completely new biome! With the final mod, you'll even be able to build your base there so you can finally recreate the dream of having a Subnautica Void DLC!

This mod isn't all that polished or anything, but if you think about it, this mod is sorta revolutionary. I've never before seen a whole new biome added, and now that this one is getting attention, a lot more people will be interested in making and playing such mods. That means we probably are gonna see more mods like this and I love it!!

The vehicle oxygen one is kind of needlessly tedious haha
I mean, you can easily handwave it for immersion that it has a electrolysis device mounted on it that pulls water in and converts it to O2 and hydrogen, boom there you go. Same reason you don't have to wait 2 minutes every time you get inside for the water to drain out/or a forcefield
I do think the void biome should totally be insanely resource rich, like prawn chunks everywhere/stones littering the ground, plus rare ores, some benefit for the hazardous region
i remember the void used to have some unfinished terrain and it was actually kinda fun to go all the way down there but they shaved it off and made it a straight drop

Wel some consoles like ps4 tend to hafe lagg while playing sometimes so maybe they really had to shave out or they are affraid people complain its unplayable or to much lagg or they had probably had to remove bunch of things

but the cove tree is almost extinct and that the big hole with the trees being down there is how did the seeds get down there due to the lost river being a long way from the void
@@hudsonbayifitwasalive8747 that’s a good question, lore-wise the void biome shouldn’t have the cove tree since the one in the lost river is confirmed as the only one in existence. Plus we don’t even know how the cove tree reproduces, if it’s either like mushrooms where they spit their seed or if it’s carried by local wildlife. Or maybe the ghost leviathan has a symbiotic relationship with the cove tree.
I’m pretty sure the void was actually planned to have a biome, called the single cell biome. It was basically a bunch of tentacle like things that, when shown light from a vehicle, would grab you and suffocate both you and your vehicle.

The idea is that the entire sea bed is comprised of one giant single called organism that reacts violently to light sources, a truly terrifying but amazing idea

I did have a dream about the Void being an actual biome,it wasn't what I saw in the dream but the mod is much better than what my brain made up

@@TheLastBacon I only remember one frame: I saw ryley going down to the bottom of the pit, then the darkness starts going away and there's some greenish walls and some weird looking mushrooms. That's all I remember
My brain made a void biome that looked like the big boo's haunt level from mario 64
I also had SEVERAL dreams about the void (arctic and regular) and I seriously think Subnautica is the only thing able to terrify me enough to have several dreams about it

@Kari Taylor it's still a bit of a mystery where the degasi landed, there are theories that the aurora landed on exactly the same place as the degasi and that is why you cannot find it or that the crew of the degasi deconstructed it completely for use in building, though it definitelly landed on the crater as you can see in the trailer for subnautica

Also I think it would be cool with the Perlin Void mod if it added like maybe some new creature, since that's now a possibility with mods. Not a giant creature, but just some random deep sea fish or something like that, since Ampeels don't exactly seem fit to live so deep. Even like a retextured garryfish or cave crawler would be neat
Anglerfish types would work so good down there
Also new leviathans, if possible. It would fit lore wise.

Well the whole point of the crater edge biome is to be an uninviting barrier to keep the player from wandering away from the map. That's why there are no resources and you automatically get attacked my ghost leviathans. You're not supposed to go there.
i wish there was something bigger because for example in below zero modders found the model for the kraken but it was scraped i think
this makes me little bit less scared of the void

If you’re going to have the void biome be based on the lost river there could be some added connection between the two.
Like having a corridor of some sort between the void and the cove tree, possibly adding a few stops near other spawn points.
Oh that would be really cool :) Like having the river "flow" into the void.
@@TheLastBacon yeah, and depending on how it’s expanded on, it could tie into the life cycle of the ghost leviathan, as well as being considered for incorporating the pipe system leading to the primary containment facility

I love the idea of more biomes! Especially a new island! I’d also love to see some terrestrial animals on a more tropical terrain than in below zero. Not that there’s anything wrong with the animals in below zero, but I always thought a predator was missing from the islands!

4:01 I believe that's supposed to be the unused "Bloom Plankton" that glows when applied light and can be summoned with console commands from the base game that was used here for the Void.

To be honest, the void looks less scarier now. It looks nicer and better though, but it kinda removes the whole purpose of the void, which is being scary. Well at least I can't be that scared anymore.

Ah I remember discovering The Void. My first play through, still during early access, so life pod drift was still a thing, I had just found the floating island for the first time, was headed back to my life pod, didn't have a compass, and it was night, suddenly I hear "entering ecological dead zone." with my life pod still 400m in front of me. This was apparently right when they added the Void Ghosts, so that was terrifying.
Yeah the first void encounter is never pleasant :)

I did have a few ideas for a biome.
Crater ridge: a long, narrow pathway off the main map that slowly gets deeper and deeper until leading to the next biome...
Secondary crater/lava vent?: essentially a giant anthill filled with large gooey snakes that may or may not try to kill you. Also blood red water due to the plankton blooming there and maybe a high iron content. Maybe in the caves or deeper areas there could be a precursor base?
I like the idea of the lava vents :) Like the lava castle but larger!
I still feel like it should be deeper. At the very least twice as deep as the Emperor's aquarium. Preferably much deeper.

I would really love something like a subnautica movie. We could see the story of degasi crew and the meeting from the emperor and the survivor (Forgot his name, riley maybe ?) anymay i think it would be cool to see subnautica story from a spectator pov more than from the survivor point. Still love playing tho and Nice content, keep up the good content ^^

It would be better off being about the degasi instead of Riley, there would have to be another survivor(which would break immersion), because one guy talking to himself for over an hour would be pretty boring. It would be cool to see more of the degasi as we’ve already seen Riley’s story play out.

Tip from me to new players: Need to stay underwater for a long time? Make multiple oxygen tanks then equip all of them to fill them up in an area with oxygen then when you go into the depths and need oxygen equip the next tank

Imagine if a mod creator were able to get the idea of the world being on a giant Reefback possible.. THAT would be cool..
And if you swim all the way past the Reefback, to the black water below, you'd eventually reach a bottom that is extremely bare with few plants and a few Leviathan class creatures. Possibly even a pre cursor building if the mod creator wants to get creative! :P

Biome Idea: Sunken Island
Its basically the floating island, but underwater, overgrown by new flora and fauna, and some dead alpha floaters around.. Makes you wonder..... what killed those massife floaters?
Probably some huge Leviathan that got crushed by the falling island and realized killing these floaters was a bad idea

The limited air thing for the Seamoth actually sucks a bit of the immersion out of the game, as 1. IRL submarines use a process called electrolysis to separate the oxygen in water from the hydrogen, allowing them to operate without surfacing for months at a time, and 2. in canon, the Seamoth is used both in water and in space, so it doesn't make sense for it to have to take in air from an external source.
I suppose that's fair :) in a way that mod is more for the masochist players I guess.

My favorite thing from the development stages of Subnautica that never actually made it into the game at any point was the Single-Celled Landscape. Basically, instead of the Void as we know it today, the sea floor at the edges of the map would be completely covered in a gigantic microbial mat that would send tendrils up to attack anything that disturbed it by swimming too close or shining a light on it. As much as I love the ghost leviathans, I would have very much preferred to have this infinitely huge army of aggressive bacterial biomass instead.
So I'm happy to see a mod that does something with the Void. Might not be the Single-Celled Landscape, but it's still extremely cool.

Idea: to get energy down there, you get some pressure module that turns the energy of the pressure into energy that powers your base. However, the things suck and give you like 80 energy units, but it regens fairly quickly.

The sparkly stuff is an unused creature called “bloom”. It was originally in the game as a bit of environmental flare. But was removed, idk why it was removed.

Honestly.. what would be cool is if there were some large centipede/worm/crustacean like leviathans which would hide under some sand like stuff down there and ambush you or grab your sea moth or whatever vehicle you’re in and drag it into the ground

There's a Subnautica mod Ugabaga made that adds a whole other world with 8 new biomes! Those biomes are the Jellyedge, parallel aurora, leviathan street, deep zone, parallel floater island, far parallel floater island and the black hole center!

LETS GO I just beat subnautica legit on my 3rd attempt after doing everything I wanted to before liftoff. I killed 3 reapers, went atop the Aurora, and I went to the end of the void legit and I also messed around with that jump glitch a little bit. I'm so happy

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but I think those pink/purple pools are actually based off Brine Pools! They're a real-life occurrence in which a vast amount of brine collect in one area. This area becomes extremely dense, salty, and is toxic to marine animals due to their high salinity and anoxic properties, which can ultimately lead to toxic shock and usual death.
Yeah that's what it looked like to me though many people pointed out they looked like floaters :)

The seamoth is a space-grade vehicle, in my opinion it makes total sense for oxygen replenishment being included in those things.
I think it also makes sense for it to be an extra module depending on what it's used for :)
In my opinion the oxygen thing with the seamoth is kinda strange because in the game when you give power to a habitat it says: Power restored oxygen production online. Meaning that they make the oxygen. But as a challenge it's pretty cool.

I'd like a combination of a deep sea reefback mixed with either a crab squid or cave crawler legs. And it just scuttled around picking up the remains and then you suddenly see a pair of eyes and a massive claw comes for you!

It's so awesome to see such a cool addition to the void! I hope they'll keep adding more plants and such though, because it looks a little too spread out and barren, imho. But omg I love the purple lakes, such a cool idea!!
i think its too lush there is supposed to be no light down there so there would not be a full jungle down there along with the fact that the void is mostly rock along with the presure of being down there
Yeah I think the next thing to do would be cool rock formations or trenches :)
It does make more sense for the vehicles to not have an infinite supply of air. Except maybe the cyclops, since it's meant to be a sort of base. It would make deep diving without a cyclops a bit more dangerous.

For a power source, it would have to be either a Bioreactor and some extra growbeds full of various plants to feed it, or a Nuclear Reactor. There’s no sunlight down there and I doubt there’s a heat source.

That wasn’t an effect from the ghost Leviathan. That’s Bloom Plankton, a creature that can only be spawned via commands that glows when a light is shined on it

It’s kind of handy that the void just starts with a sheer drop, makes modding and inserting a new biome very easy.
It definitely doesn’t hurt :)
Idea: have a biome right before the void around the crater that is called the abyss, the abyss has multiple fungus-like entities that react harshly to light. The actual void would be filled with hostile undead versions of other creatures and when you go far enough, a Skeletal Leviathan would spawn.
My Idea for the skeletal leviathan is that it would have an exoskeleton that looks like a skeleton, and all of its organs are see-through, allowing you to just barely see its inner body. It would camouflage with the bones and flesh then ambush the player, if the player survives its first attack, it would circle them slowly, then attack quickly.
Love the biome idea :) Hopefully someone could make something like that!
