- We've tried removing water from Subnautica before....but how about we added some instead? In this video, I'll be transforming the whole game into the dead zone by adding 10000m of water on top of the base game. Will the game still be playable or will it just be a terrifying experience in the darkness? Come find out!

A DLC where your ship sinks deep into the void, and you need to survive the deep depths of the planet. Light from your ship and items you crafted will be companion.
If you try to swim to the surface, the Ghost Leviathans will relentlessly try to eat you. A leviathan who everyone thought was extinct will try to devour your vehicles.
You're only source of oxygen is from your ship and buildings you build.

What I love about this is that just like in real life, no sunlight can reach that far down, so it actually feels like you're at the bottom of the ocean. The lighting bug even makes it more interesting in a way.

When you we're flying through the air with the seamoth, that kinda made sense cuz the motto is "The Seamoth, it goes anywhere but land." but in the real Subnautica you can't fly.

Its primarily for space and sea, i think its actually more of a space vehicle than a submarine

This is really making me want a Subnautica set in the very depths of the void. Imagine some of the massive submarine concepts like the Atlas being used to reach the deepest depths. Imagine what kinds of horrors you could find down there.

Imagine just navigating the grassy plateaus with only a 2 foot field of light to see the surrounding area and you only see silhouettes of sand sharks moving around you.

This shows you just how big the aurora actually is. When it's not next to anything to serve as reference, besides the seamoth, you really feel the 1km length

Congratulations! You somehow figured out a way to make my thalassophobia, especially regarding the environments in this game, even worse than it was before! I think I'm actually going to have nightmares about this tonight. Staying in the lifepod and slowly starving to death/asphixiating is a preferable way to go, compared to the hellscape that lurks outside

Yeah I'm not even a little afraid of water but this game screws with me. Playing the resident evil 2 remake and it's nothing compared to subnautica, in terms of creepiness.
@Nostalgic History submechanophobia is the fear of objects submerged in water so they’re not wrong at all.

You might need to add 10000 depth resist to everything, depending on how it's calculated, and add some sources of air (as well as giving a Base Starter Kit or fixing the lifepod in place), but this would be an interesting start.
Don't forget to add random Ghost Leviathan spawns around the map!

I could see having the upper parts of the aurora still being filled with air, and having the lifepod act like the one in below zero, and just be anchored to the sea floor.
Also, by upper parts, I mean anything above where water would have flooded in when the hull was breached.
Oh, and made all the Degassi bases still be watertight. Just for the sake of a moment of respite.

I keep forgetting how subnautica captures a true feel of horror so masterfully. Just the whole feel of being 10 000 meters underwater, devoid of any light. The aurora's surface slowly emerging from the eternal darkness as you get closer. It truly makes you feel so... uneasy. And I genuinely love it! Because no other game, even from the horror genre, makes you feel this way. That's one of the many reasons I adore this game.
Also on the topic of the aurora emerging from darkness, the recent mods I've been seeing for this game give me hope that someday there will be a mod that brings a leviathan as massive, or say, even larger, than the aurora! I mean, just imagine! You're slowly going down the void, no ambient music, no sound, just... Quiet. And suddenly, a giant, monstrous face swallows your whole screen, with it's gigantic glowing eyes, making you feel this... Thing is bigger than the whole planet itself!! I would LOVE that!
Yeah hopefully when the gargantuan is finished it should be larger than the Aurora :)

it would be so cool that if you went deep enough into the void like say 2000 mtr? witha cyclops or maybe 1500? your pda would say "i am detecting a leviathan class entity in the area size level UNKOWN" or your pda would say something that leads to something else being down there in the deep dark depths of subnautica

Is there some way to mess with the biomes? For example, can you classify the safe shallows as dunes to make the PDA say 'detecting multiple leviathan-class lifeforms in the region' as soon as you crash into 4546B? If so, can you turn the entire map into the void? The ghosts would be a constant, terrifying threat and it would truly feel like it's the void.
I don't know if that would be possible :) ....probably with some effort.

Just in case some people didn't know ;)
I recommend everyone to play through subnautica on filmic lighting at least once. It makes the darks soo much darker that you really need to rely on you sonar upgrades a lot more. I forced myself to explore the mountains and dunes wrecks while playing this way and it led to some of the most terrifying and yet memorable encounters with reapers (I have yet to recover).
True it makes it so much more terrifying :)

I think what you did above the game, was push it at 10,000. 10,000 is past the playable barrier, so all lighting will bug what you’re currently in. If you just put it out 1000, it would’ve fixed it and everything would’ve been like the actual void

I would love a hardcore 7,000m deep playthrough or something along those lines. Gotta survive off eating bladderfish until you make your habitat builder since you can't get any oxygen. And probably no solar panels.

The plot of this game: you sleep in your safety base on 4546b but something is wrong... you have a nightmare, your goal is to find way to escape your horrible head that see a lot of unusual world (to make it more harder it better will be if ghost leviathans will patrol the world around so it would more looks like a character’s nightmare after he reach the deadly zone in real world)
Please update this! The idea of this is very cool! Just add some more cool staff to help you survive under 10000 meters depth

Idk why, but during the video I had this feeling of panic when he could barely see. I don’t normally get that feeling when underwater IRL or in game. But definitely a cool concept for the game
