Archie reminds me of a kitty I had...at 8 weeks, not even a pound. She was little all her life, but just fine for 17 years. Her personality made up for her size and I hope Archie has the same life ahead.
I know this may not help (since I am not a cat, obviously), but I have always been small; hell at 45, and not a hair over 5'2", alot of women younger than me are much taller ... So it may just be Archie is just a super-tiny kitteh, despite his age. If he does have a form of dwarfism that is not related to the Munchkin gene, he may well live easily live a normal lifespan for a cat ... after all, some of the dwarf actors from 'The Wizard of Oz' lived until their 90s ...
Archie will most likely be just fine. I adopted a feral cat family a few years ago. Mama had four kittens, and one them was clearly the runt. He was the most timid of the group. Because his siblings were so much more 'aggressive' with food, I made special efforts to make sure he had the same amount of food as his siblings. He was healthy, he just smaller than the other kittens.

It is so good to see all the babies growing and getting stronger. Watching them play is so relaxing. Archie is small, but some cats are like that, they don't get very big. My first cat Kirby who I rescued off the street in 2008 was a very small cat. She passed away a few months ago and I cry every time I think about her. She weighed about four pounds. I thank you for the wonderful work you are doing , saving these little angels. God Bless.

I'm worried about little Archie, nothing is normal about his growth or behavior and you've done everything humanly possible as always they get the best of care. I ask about this and the vet said it maybe genetics and because they are rescue, he maybe another mommies kitty, it happens all the time in these circumstances, but I think I'm going to check around to see what I can find, peace and love always.
He could be another mother’s kitten that’s younger than the rest, he could be the runt and catch up, or he could have a congenital defect. We’re keeping an eye on him and working with the rescue to figure it out.

Yes. Adoption for Archie. He needs xtra- TLC. It'll give him a sense of confidence that he is accepted. Too much competition for him to cope with from the other kitties. He looks confused. If he's not eating (like crazy), he may be depressed. He's not playing with abandon like the other kittens.

I have an 8 week old black kitten I adopted and she is just finally allowing me to pet her. And that's only at bedtime when the lights are out, lol. But I consider that great progress. I love how good your kittens are towards Hazel and with humans.
I so happy to see that both mom cat and her kittens are well on the mend; I love seeing them playing,active,and rambunctious just as any other normal cat and kitten. Aside from the spots on their heads and the eye issues, Dobby actually has a curved tip on his left ear while Birdy does not. So there's that for identification, haha.
Of course this litter is just too sweet, all of them that you, and now Nora, foster have been. But every time I see Hazel trying to play under the door makes me giggle. Head boops and snuggles for all!
My little boy Eros when I first got him he was sick like his sister Gaia, he was really small after, now he looks as though he was mistaken for a kitten when in reality he was an escaped lion cub. He’s not fat or anything he’s just so big.

I wonder if the poor kittens (Birdie and Dobbie) who have eye infections (bacterial/viral) should be separated from the other three so that their infection doesn't spread to the others? 🤔🤔 I am sure the wonderful foster parents would have already thought of such issues by now. 😊😊
We don’t think it’s contagious. they’ve all been exposed to heroes so they all have it already, and will have it for their lifetime. Just like our own cat Max has nasal discharge and sneezes, it can also effect the eyes.
LOL At first I was thinking how are you going to get them to stay on the scale. Than they wouldn't get off. So funny little guys. Everyone looks good. Maybe they are smaller than the age you think because of being sick when they were young. Well they are healthy now. Thanks for such good care for them. You have a good day.

I follow Widdle on Instagram! He’s tiny but other than that he’s seems that same as any other cat. I’m not sure if his disorder causes him problems or not but he looks really happy and well adjusted. Maybe Archie does have a growth disorder or maybe he’s just the runt. Either way he’s a gorgeous little panther and he’s very fortunate to have you caring for him and his family!

Thank you! We appreciate the encouragement. This litter has us exhausted and very stressed. It’s one thing after the other, but we know we’re doing everything we can. They came to us unhealthy and we just hope we can give them a good start of life.

We had a kitten when I was a kid who my stepfather liked to play rough with and she never learned any bite inhibition at all. Everything was prey to her and she bit a number of people. This next suggestion is going to be of the "When all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail" variety: You might want to mention something called "exocrine pancreatic insufficiency" to your vet. The only reason I know about this is because there was a kitten at Tiny Kittens HQ (they have a TH-cam channel th-cam.com/channels/eL2LSl91k2VccR7XEh5IKg.html. Search on "Stanley" or "Stanlily") who similarly failed to thrive. He was older than Archie but like Archie he was smaller then his sisters. The vet should have done an eye culture to know exactly what bacteria is in that eye. That will tell him which antibiotic will work against that bacteria. I don't know the history but maybe the black kitty really isn't a sibling????
One of these days Archie gets a growth spurt, and he'll out do the lot of them! If not, i still think he's cute! I lived with my parents till my 32nd, so....
Get a bottle of Sovereign silver and put it in their water or food. It’s tasteless and a very safe antibiotic, should help all with the eye infections. Can buy on Amazon or Whole Foods..
I agree Archie loves the closeness with his mommy. Do you think Cricket was trying to stop Archie from nursing. That's sad, because I too believe he has to be at least a few days younger than his siblings. I hated when Cricket got mean with him.
We haven’t seen her try to make him stop nursing. She was just teaching him cat manners, and did it with all the others. It’s completely normal mom behavior.
The Black One is he the youngest? Seems so, my 1 kitten meanwhil 9years was also so skinny and little , today is healthy and all but still 1/4 smaller when his older brother
If Archie is from the same litter, he can be a week younger? I've never heard of a cat mom giving birth to kittens that far apart from the same litter. Or did you mean he could be a week younger from another litter?
I do a lot of rescue work with kittens and weaning time is very difficult on weaker kittens. They seem to have gut issues and malabsorbtion causing stunted growth. Adding a bottle or syringe of nutrical, A/D prescription diet and pedialyte with regular dosing of benebac to help their gut mature and absorb nutrients better. Also adding lactaid to the mix will keep him from complications associated with his mother's milk as he becomes lactose intolerant with weaning. And not to be a Debbie downer, sometimes in spite of every thing we do, kittens that are weak tend to fade away and die which is no fault of the rescuer, just that there is something keeping them from thriving, so be prepared fir the worst, but hope for the best. I just lost a kitten I fought so hard for to live. It's like her gut quit in spite of her appetite. It never gets easier to lose them. It does make the successes sweeter! Never give up! Just think gut when dealing with runts.

There’s also congenital hypothyroidism and other growth disorders. We are keeping an eye on him and are working with the non profit to address it.

What does mama have under her eye/ upper nose? A scab perhaps. Sweet kittens 💚
She has feline herpes and so her eye runs and when it dries it dries there but she won’t let us clean it :/

I agree Archie loves the closeness with his mommy. Do you think Cricket was trying to stop Archie from nursing. That's sad, because I too believe he has to be at least a few days younger than his siblings. I hated when Cricket got mean with him.
We haven’t seen her try to make him stop nursing. She was just teaching him cat manners, and did it with all the others. It’s completely normal mom behavior.

One of my cats nursed her babies for months. It's normal. I suppose Archie is a bit slow in development, some kittens are.

I do a lot of rescue work with kittens and weaning time is very difficult on weaker kittens. They seem to have gut issues and malabsorbtion causing stunted growth. Adding a bottle or syringe of nutrical, A/D prescription diet and pedialyte with regular dosing of benebac to help their gut mature and absorb nutrients better. Also adding lactaid to the mix will keep him from complications associated with his mother's milk as he becomes lactose intolerant with weaning. And not to be a Debbie downer, sometimes in spite of every thing we do, kittens that are weak tend to fade away and die which is no fault of the rescuer, just that there is something keeping them from thriving, so be prepared fir the worst, but hope for the best. I just lost a kitten I fought so hard for to live. It's like her gut quit in spite of her appetite. It never gets easier to lose them. It does make the successes sweeter! Never give up!
