My American History teacher, Mr. Abrams, included a unit on the nazi's attempt to kill all the Jews. The pictures were appalling and we all thought he was overdoing it because he was Jewish. He told us, we should never forget. As students we thought, how could anybody forget something so terrible. He was right and we were wrong. Thank you Mr. Abrams for making sure we would remember!

My first exposure to the history of the Holocaust was on Walter Cronkite's TV show The Twentieth Century on CBS. It showed the bodies being piled on carts and dumped into a mass grave. My dad explained it to me the best he could. I was in middle school at the time, I didn't know enough then for it to have the impact that it does now.

I was 10 years old in 1957 when the unedited footage of the liberation of the concentration camps was released in the US and broadcast on TV on the Walter Cronkite show.
Seeing that footage at that age was profoundly traumatic and very enlightening for me.
Both my parents were WWII vets, both had experienced extreme adversity in their lives. And unfortunately the ways that they coped created a very toxic family culture. So I received no comfort whatsoever seeing the extent of human cruelty, and it helped me realize that just as no one had stopped the holocaust, just as no one had rescued millions, no one would rescue my family either.
The cruelty would go one for another five years until my dad escaped by dying.
I subsequently made a promise to my child self that I would never allow such horror to exist unchallenged, unstopped.
So throughout my life I have watched films, read books, EDUCATED myself.
This documentary is one of the best I’ve seen in my lifetime! Thanks very much for it!

One of my teachers in High school in the year 1967 always wore long sleeved shirts. One day, his sleeve slipped up and you could see his "ID" number. The boys asked him about it, the girls were scared to, because he was a kind and smiling gentle soul. He got permission to hold a "special" history class. it ran 8 weeks. He impressed on all of us what happens if no one questions authority. The class of 1967 and 68 in our school had a higher than average number of people who volunteered for military service, almost all of them credited that teacher ( who asked his name never be used in stories of the holocaust) with making them realize that even good people can be made into bad people if they never question what people in power say.

What an incredible account of survival.
I'm glad to have been introduced to him here in this video, as I've wondered about him every time I've seen his little face looking at us in documentary footage.
It's an incredible blessing for the family that Joseph's parents survived, as that precious little boy might not have survived his PTSD, and then the next precious generation of Jewish children wouldn't have been born.

I was an adventurous youngster from England during the 1950’s but I knew two things if I was extremely hungry. One was to never be afraid to call a Romany van and ask for something to eat, I was never ever refused. And the other thing was that if ever I saw a camp tattoo on a man’s arm he would always make sure I got something to eat. I travelled the world and finally settled down in New Zealand where I still am at 83 years of age.

I took care of an elderly Jewish man in a Jewish nursing home here in Melbourne and I remember seeing his arm tattoo.
He was a boy during the Holocaust and I remember that he was very short in adulthood.
I felt sad for him, even though he'd obviously survived. He had dementia and was unable to speak, so as I took care of him, I'd think of lots of questions about his life, that we sadly weren't able to discuss.
I didn't know for sure, but I suspected that childhood starvation had stunted his growth.
I'm so glad that I had the privilege of taking care of survivors. They will always be the Lord God of Israel's treasured possession, His Chosen People.

Now they are strong and are able to defend themselves yet the world labels them as evil for doing so. They have survived despite the overwhelming odds by working hard to prove their worth. They didnt go whine and complain about their situation but rather strived hard to make it better. Unlike the palestinians who refuse to live with them in peace, keep on terrorizing the israelis, then go whine and complain when the IDF strikes back.

"Sean", perhaps you may have watched, on the telly, "Upstairs Downstairs", in its original run? They had an episode set during World War One, where a family was persecuted, just because they were German emigres to England. They supplied most of the special bakery goods to the Bellamy household. But the show's writers, deliberately also made them Jewish. They wanted the viewers to think about what would have happened to this family, only a scant 5 or so years later, in the Weimar Republic, and the years BEYOND, had this family elected to stay instead, in Germany. It was a GOOD episode. And I also recall an episode from "To Serve Them all My Days", where David Powlett-Jones sheltered a German-Jewish orphan named Ulrich Meyer. He was harassed by some of the lads who were a bit like troglodytes in their lives' approaches, but David shut them down, really good! I forget what the ROTC is termed, in English schools, but Ulrich joined that, and did pretty well--not just in the TV show, but in Delderfield's novelisation, also.

I hope someday some of them will be able to carry on these lessons of humanity to the next generation.
We need to remember we are all human and love one another. Just because we think or act differently, doesn’t mean we can’t love and value others and their life. Tolerance and appreciation for others is what makes our world a better place.

I was a single father in the 80s with full custody of a little daughter in grade school. Working nights I found an elderly married couple who wanted to be my baby sitter since their kids were grown up. The lady was delighted to care for my little girl and the husband became fond of me since he never had a son. Anyway He was 17 in 44 and enlisted in regular army, went to Germany and was among the liberators of the death camps. He enjoyed telling me his war stories, and I was glad to listen! He saw the horrific aftermath of the SS guards abandoning the camps and on the run now the people were free! I was in my 30s at this time and was honored to meet and hear his firsthand knowledge of it all!!!!

She told me about the concentration camps, and that many people were murdered, both adults and children, and it would be up to my generation to see it did not happen again, and yo explain to my children what happened and to teach them they must be sure it did not happen in their generation. I had a most wise mother. She told me each generation had to make sure the Holocaust did not repeat, because each generation has very cruel members of that generation.

It's already happening. Joseph Kennedy - JFK's father was a Nazi or nazi sympathizer. That's why he could never run for President. Nazis used the Democrat's jim crowe laws and crossed out negro and put jew. Same people as today. Doing the same thing to Israel. So many people will vote for democrats not knowing what they're doing.

Was not disclosed to the public as to their end demise. Many local also lived in fear to speak out about anything. Same as today in any dictatorship.. puplic are brainwashed .. and or others will just keep quiet or risk their lives. Always innocents suffer for bad leaders. 😢

Only 20 percent of the German populace supported the National Socialist Party of Hitler, and those who publicly denounced the Nazi party were either killed or sent to the death camps as well. I had a relative who lived in Dresden during WW2, who was a German Nurse, and she secretly opposed the Nazis, and hid her Jewish friend in her apartment, until they were both killed in the 2nd wave of the bombing of Dresden.

Brave little man. Endured such torment and horror. Yet still had a smile on his face, with tears still im his eyes. Praying this story has an ending where this man went on to have a good life surrounded by people he loved, and children to make him smile.

None of the footage of the holocaust should ever be edited or censored. This was a senseless tragedy that happened that everyone should see and hear about. This wasn't a movie, this real life! The last line is absolutely the truth, thats why its so important for it to be told.. all of it.. no matter what !

Where does your information come from? Germany absolutely supports Israel. They are so full of guilt and at the same time still don't understand their own atrocity during the Nazi era, so they support everything without thinking twice when it comes from Israel.

Except he is an alleged criminal jew, rather than an totally innocent one. He would be arrested and tried as a war criminal, rather than like the millions who were arrested/murdered for simply being Jewish. Ie innocent of any crimes

Hi, from Germany. That is not clear at the moment. The international court of justice has not finally decided.
Germany has submitted this international court, but on the other hand there is a law of immunity for presidents from other countries.
It was discussed hypothetically at the moment.
It is for sure that we would arrest Putin, if putting a foot on German ground.
When it will come to the same accuse to Nethanjahu, it is told, that we must act equally.
But believe me, this decision would be a very hard step. No one in Germany is longing for that.
The reason for submitting the international court of judge WAS the Holocaust.
