Pretty much, I’d prefer to deal with the horror of prewar inhumanity and imperialism when flying disease-ridden creatures (not including mothman) and giant arachnids are not a real problem. It’s why I sided with humanity in starship troopers.
Assuming it transfers to postwar, mosquito saliva prevents blood clotting too (that’s why they inject it into what it’s eating from) so imagine a wound that size that won’t stop bleeding
On my very first FO 4 play through that's how I died. Those two bugs next to Red Rocket by Sanctuary. I killed them but didn't notice my HP gradually going down until it was too late. After that vats on any thing that flies.
The mosquito saliva actually contains an anaesthetic, not a venom as such. So it's more likely that you'd be numb all over or even knocked out by the dose.
I put my money on ants, those things are the ruthless creatures i ever seen in my life, now that they are so large that some species are the size of a car. They can actually exterminate species.

If you are sick and you sneeze and infect someone and they die due to that disease did YOU kill them? Also some of the diseases caused by mosquitoes are caused by not bacteria/viruses, but things that are classified as microscopic animals, so even if you want to attribute kill to animal, you'd technically have to count it to animal that directly causes that disease. Yeah I know it's commonly aggreed that mosquito is the deadliest animal, it's just something that doesn't sit well with me personally and I think it's kinda misleading. Don't get me wrong, mosquitos are awful and they still lead to tons of misfortune, but I think trying to directly call them the deadliest animal is just wrong And yeah the disease that is probably most associated with ,,mosquito related" deaths, malaria, is caused by such parasitic animal. I like the cheekiness of the wasteland whisperer perk in fallout 4. Having your character buzz at bugs in an effort to subdue them is just so goofy I love it 😂
The Fallout series was inaccurate purely because of how few pests there were. Radroaches, Bloatflies, and Bloodbugs are a brutal reality of the wasteland.

Fallout 4 loading screen says that Bloodbug will suck their victims blood out and spit it back to their victim to mess with their vision. That's even more mess up.
I once fought 8 or 9 of them in the dead of the night on survival mode, with an hour and a half of progress on the line. I thankfully came out victorious with the help of jet, but that was an absolutely terrifying moment
I live in Texas and I used to go to college at Texas A&M Galveston(on pelican Island 🏝️). You can put a saddle on the mosquitoes here. We call the mosquito spray on the island, the Texas cologne lol 😂. My point is that in Fallout universe, avoid pelican Island/Galveston. The blood bugs in F4 and 76 are irritating!

I like how he acts like your going to survive the first foot long chest impalement these things give you or the immediately lethal amount of blood they during out of you... You won't have to worry about fighting them after that. There's a log that more or less points out how immediately lethal bloodbugs are.
This thing and the Cazador are more then enough reason for me to support the Enclave decision to genocide the entire wasteland.

When 4 came out Bloodbug became a permanent term for me, so much so that my wife doesnt even call them mosquitoes when they're in our house

Personally I hate Stingwings more, they cause temporary blindness although the bloodbug, when it grabs you and sucks your blood is very annoying.
