Hi. You are right. The samplemoog is the only vst with polymoog. It has available a lot of effects. I layered the piano with an obx to get the sound you hear that is on top of the piano. I also use that in How Long. Let me know if u need more detail. I have rec about 15 saga sons using vsts.
Yeah. The KX8 is a midi keyboard which means it doesn't make any sounds on its own. You have to connect the kx8 to a computer via a USB cable. Also, you need a soundcard other than the one that came with your PC to have low latency or delay between playing and hearing the sound. Most soundcards are firewire, PCI or USB in order of speed. Finally, you need a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to record music or a VST Host program. Examples of DAWs are cubase, sonar, logic, reason,
Hi Solaris, I really like the touch of the keyboard. It has a Yamaha piano like touch. I bought to give me a piano like feel as opposed toa synth like feel. The keyboard is great for that and it also has good integration with Cubase. Te keyboard does not have split and/or transpose (only octave) so I don't no if that is a show stopper for you. My question I guess would be, how are you going to use it?
If that is what you want, then it's probably a good deal for the money....Also, if you use Cubase it has very good integration. It comes with a really good piano...
I think you can use them like I did. The only trick is to isolate the sounds. On the recording the keyboard parts have a polymoog string sound, a minimoog lead sound (sawish) and a Wurlitzer electric piano. But I have seen live performaces without the piano. Since I used virtual instruments I used about 5 different sounds scattered all over the keyboard. Do you know how to program your keyboards? if so just sit with the recording and recreate your sounds. Take care, Pedro
Depending how you are going to use it then I would tell you if I recommend it. Can you go to a musc store and try it? I would recommend that.... The axiom 61 is good for fast playng even though the keys ge some time to get used to. My next keyboard is probably going to be a CME UF7 or VX7 for the controllability and the touch. Hope this helps....
Can you play the yamaha KX 8 like you would a regular piano? Like with the sound of a grand? The reason i ask is becasue I want to keep playing piano as well as learn synth and stuff like that.
I remember reading that on their first album Saga recorded the moog monophonically on tracks to create polyphony. So they had a record they couldnt play live and then along came the polymoog. Do u have a saga cover band or do u just play that song..
hey peter i have a question for you ?? i have already a yamaha kx8 new buy how did u pun new sounds on he? using usb cable ? i receive a Cubase AI 4 Original cd and i don't no how i can use it, you can help me ?
BTW I don't care about transpose and split because I use Forte and all transpose and splits are done within that and I don't use thge keyboard to do that...
One of my favorite songs of SAGA... thank you :)
Thank you . Love that song!

Yes, you can split the kx8 into how many sections you want there is virtually no limit. you do it with a graphical interface in the software....
Top Job!

Yes, I'll PM you with more info. The trick is that you need a computer laptop or desktop with a good soundcard pci firewire or usb
I wonder how I'd be able to do this using a Moog Source and Memorymoog Plus?
