@@thathitmann8282 Reminds me of when I spent a night working on a kamikaze craft shaped like a penis designed to ram into ships with a nuke. Also had a harpoon missile variant that would bring it to the ship. Wasn't very effective most of the time, but it was damn funny.
"the rods rose from the depths, far too quickly for even a rogue superintelligence to calculate and counter, some with reinforced spikes and cutting wheels, others with nuclear explosives, they rose so quickly that the metal of our underbelly didn't even have enough time to transfer the force it was hit with, before the internals of our ship were already mangled. it was like Neter itself sought our cessation, and decided it was time to assure it beyond a scrap of doubt."
I need some of these wonderful monstrosities to be part of a custom campaign. Could you imagine people's reaction to seeing the giant spinning spear or getting ambushed by a group of the sea mines? it would be glorious! Heck, even just the impaler from the last video would be great.
Not to be boring, but I remember when I was messing with piston melee weapons like this... they don't actually work that well in practice. 😅 While the weapon itself can be cheap, they're so long, twitchy and heavy that they make the craft they're on very unstable and prone to going out of control. You need a lot of control thrusters/props to maintain position, and that's where your cost ends up going: making something stuffed with enough custom jets that it won't flip out when it extends The Toilet Brush of Doom. You touched on the real challenge of making melee weapons at the end: actually making a vehicle that can use it. XD Jolly good demonstration of silly science, though! 👍
This video give me an idea: using a bread-board to control a tractor beam and teleport nuke in your enemie and I use an similar piston with ram and I control the length by a bread-board, after adding a continous pivot to make it turn and using a random number generator to make the assembly vibrate more, the weapon is terifying

If you're a programmer, the LUA this game uses will pose zero challenge to you. Working with it's API will, however. It's very poorly documented. My missile code actually uses calls i've not seen in the in-game documentation, just on an abandoned forum.
@doktork3406 that absolutely tracks. I've started learning for a recent video, and I picked up LUA in a matter of hours. Then I spent about 4 hours trying to find the current aiming angle of a turret because of how janky the interface is.
Gotta be honest, lasers are my least favorite weapon system because they dont have an interesting counter (even bad aim) But this. This is a unique solition

This is the only logical advancement of the technology, nuclear jousting.
