Holy shit!!! Mike Dawes mentioned you in a Music is Win interview and I had to go listen to Hey Child immediately afterwards ... and not only is your channel still up, but you uploaded within the last day!!! Its fate, you must go to Nashville to play with Tyler ... because some random fan on the internet needs it ... really badly XD In all seriousness though, so glad you're still playing, I haven't listened to percussive guitar in a good many years, but its back on my radar again!
The balance of bright and warm tones is impeccable. Like a hot cup of honey lemon ginger spice tea in a forest of evergreens and trees whose leaves are changing color while sitting around a bonfire🥺
Im booking tickets to come see you! Ive missed your tours the last two times and now im finally getting to see you live. Youve been the backbone of my own guitar journey. You showed me what it truly meant to play guitar... By simply learning how not to play it. I found your music just over 12 years ago maybe a few months after Passionflower was uploaded on TH-cam...and ive follwed your journey ever since. Sadly in the last couple years i have stopped guitar completely. Issues with money and time and all the rest left me selling my couple guitars and having that excuse to not pick a guitar up or beat myself up over it. However ive lately gotten in a better position mentally, financially and with my own time....and now i also have a goal for which guitar id want to get me back on my journey
It doesn't matter which guitar you play Jon... every guitar sounds magical because you play with so much heart and soul. Simply magical! Thank you for your great music and melodies😊
I swear I saw that guitar grow on you as you got towards the end of Passionflower lol. Was neat to hear it without vocals too! Such a beautiful piece of music even without the beautiful words and beautiful voice! Thanks for being you man!
Love everything about this guitar, especially the wood grain on the back and sides!! Would absolutely love to grab one if it goes into production. Definitely made my day seeing you so ecstatic over the new baby
Beautiful guitar. I heard passionflower way back when you first released it and now I get to hear it again, the same, but with a fresh new guitar. Awesome! Thanks dude.
Happy for you brother. You are an amazing guitarist. They say everyone has a gift. I have none. You definitely have the gift of playing a guitar. I'm sure there was a lot of hard work put in as well. Some are meant to play and some meant to just listen.
Beautiful, Jon! Of course it should go into production. It's gorgeous and people should have access to that passionflower inlay, if nothing else. Will you be playing it at your autumn gigs? 😉
Your happiness is our happiness, Jon! That inlay is insanely beautiful, and its integration into the Möbius strip is chef's kiss perfection. The top is so mellow already. And the back and sides really are 3D. Even the headstock fits. Mostly dark with just a glimmer of light. At $3800, it's a bit beyond my reach, but maybe that should be the point: something worth saving up for and dreaming up for. Is it the most expensive signature Ibanez has done? Not counting guitars that have Steve Vai blood in them? lol. And I guess the top is no longer a laminate of two layers offset by a proprietary angle? I wish some day you'd get over your Ameriphobia and come tour here!
It's just a mix of the guitar's three pickups, and I added a little of that mic you can see in the video (Sennheiser e965) to capture some extra acoustic tone of the instrument. Effects wise on this I'm using a big hall reverb with some glitched and pitch-shifted delay mixed into it, and then in some sections there's an overdriven delay effect as well. I don't remember which brands of effects I used, but I'm usually using multiple plugins to make one effects, all different brands, often freeware (like Chow Matrix delay, which can basically do anything if you tweak it enough). The main "hall" reverb is actually an impulse response of a concert hall in Boston, which I found on a university website. There's countless free reverb captures online. I have the reverb of vast hangar where NASA builds rockets, and a 10,000 year old burial cairn in Scotland.
It's pretty noticeable how the sound profile changes from the previous model to this prototype. I really like that brighter and clearer sound this JGM11 has... Plus, we could play being like you and do some tunning tricks! I really think you should put this model into production, Jon. I'm really glad to see you happy playing it! You really enjoyed the sound
I think the extra clarity is more cos I made the recording really transparent so you can hear what the guitar really sounds like. But yeah it is pretty sparkly. I can't get over the sound
@@jongomm I'm sure it sounds much more sparkly and mesmerizing in person. You really did a great job along with the Ibanez designers. Gosh, I'd love to get my hands on that prototype. Surely my 40+ years old classical guitar needs some rest
So cool ❤❤! I already have my dream guitar, but this would have been my choice. You did a great job for the fingerstyle community with this guitar. Cheers Lars.
When the last notes are strummed and held, the sound actually sounds like some kind of keys or synth in the background. What an awesome sound if there was no post production!
Nice guitar (and nice playing obviously :) . Any experience how feedback-sensitive this beauty is on a bit higher volume? If you would have to dial down the percussive part of the amplified sound that would be bit of a pity. Also I am always a bit worried about dual output guitars. Doing small gigs without a sound engineer or anything, i would just use a Y connector and reroute everything to the same amplifier... which is probably not the idea?
Just wondering what the electronics in this model? I noticed 2 cord plugs - is one for the magnetic pickup the other for a mic or blended mic and piezo maybe? Sounds great. I want one 😊
You're exactly right (your second guess). It's a triple source pickup system: Rare Earth magnetic, Rare Earth condenser mic, and Powertap body sensor. The main output gives you a blend of all three pickups. Or you can use two cables, or a stereo cable, to get a stereo blend/split. Or you can you one stereo cable *and* one mono cable to get a clean three-way split. What's one more than stereo? Tripleo?
Now you've had time to have a play, do you prefer the Growly 10, or the Rounded 11? Especially for syncopating with E string basslines and chords on the top 3 strings.. playing gutterally. Because, selfishly ;) I really need to understand and focus on one, the 10 or 11 to envision how it can interact with the bass treble with a funky bass heavy style before i can convince myself to buy.. The 11 is absolutely beautiful.. but I have an ignorant instinct that the 10 would be more gutteral on the bass (I'm not a delicate player). But you are the man, to know ;) What do you think? My guess is the 11 is best for delicate musical midrange and the 10 is best to pop the bass with funky chords on the top strings in a raunchy way? This would be my most expensive purchase ever so I hope you enjoy the question in a light-hearted way ;)
It would be next to impossible to spend $4K on anything and get more happiness out of it for a longer period of time. Without a doubt this couch noodler's dream acoustic guitar 😂
Yes I think you should press it into production. Otherwise the only people who will end up owning the handful of prototypes will be the capitalist-collectors and not the artists you probably wanted this to end up in the arms of. So you decide where you want this guitar to end up: in an acrylic display case or on stage?
Love the way the sound hole roseate flows into the fretboard inlays. Gorgeous.
If you look at it from directly in front, it lines up perfectly. It's deeply satisfying
It sounds gorgeous! Absolutely resonates beautifully, and has great intonation! I think it should go into production, for sure!
7:35 - goosebumps, everytime.
Yes please
Wow the chatoyance off the sides is stunning, kudos to the luthiers craftsmanship Passionflower sounds awesome on it!
It is in production. Thomann already sells it .

The excitement on your face as your looking at it, tells it all. It sounded amazing, ofc due to your masterful playing.
please bring this one into production. Its a beautiful thing and a great intro to get into your playing style, John!
It doesn't matter which guitar you play Jon... every guitar sounds magical because you play with so much heart and soul. Simply magical! Thank you for your great music and melodies😊

It sounds SO GOOD ❤
Its BEAUTIFUL Jon. Wow. Im. not one usually for fancy inlays but that inlay is incredible. Sounds beautiful. Im happy for you!
Beautiful guitar. I heard passionflower way back when you first released it and now I get to hear it again, the same, but with a fresh new guitar. Awesome! Thanks dude.
So glad that you intro'd with that absolute beauty of a choon.
Please make this full production. That or a natural top version of the pau ferro guitar!
Happy for you brother. You are an amazing guitarist. They say everyone has a gift. I have none. You definitely have the gift of playing a guitar. I'm sure there was a lot of hard work put in as well. Some are meant to play and some meant to just listen.
Aw helllll yeah put that thing in production!
I want to test one out. I feel like my acoustic playing style would match it perfectly
Beautiful, Jon! Of course it should go into production. It's gorgeous and people should have access to that passionflower inlay, if nothing else.
Will you be playing it at your autumn gigs? 😉
Wow! Such a beautiful thing. Congratulations - I hope you do go forward with it as I'm sure anyone who has one will treasure it.
THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL GUITAR!
i am so glad you have your own signature guitar sir. very well deserved
It looks beautiful Jon, You deserve It!❤

What a beautiful guitar! Can I ask you what kind of effect do you use to create that beautiful texture? Greetings from the Czech Republic.

@@jongomm Thanks a lot for the detailed answer! I wish you lots of inspiration and fun with your new guitar. ♾💜
I really want to try one of these out badly haha. Such a cool guitar!

Instrumental Passion Flower on a new, out-of-the-box Passion Flower guitar. Sounds beautiful. Doesn’t get much better…
When the last notes are strummed and held, the sound actually sounds like some kind of keys or synth in the background. What an awesome sound if there was no post production!
Please get that into production!!!
That's a great sounding and looking guitar! Congrats on the collab!
Can't wait to compose on it!

The guitar sounds great. But I have a feeling that any guitar would sound properly in your hands, Sir Jon.
Most truth I’ve read in years
Lol
That's one happy Jon. 😊
There's very few out there, post up a link if you find one. I can't find one on Thomann!
Yes please :)
Jon Gomm you are MAster !!!!
Now I need to go hit a life milestone to justify splurging on this in celebration
My toxic trait is thinking buying your signature guitar will make me play like you...... 😭
Beautiful Instrument!
Top notch.
Lo quiero mucho señor Jon Gomm

if there’ll be an option with pao ferro back&sides that would be great!

Is It a Transacoustic Guitar?
It would be next to impossible to spend $4K on anything and get more happiness out of it for a longer period of time. Without a doubt this couch noodler's dream acoustic guitar 😂
I think Wilmas jealous mate!😂

As batman would say: "does it come in black?"
