    Thanks for the guide! One other thing, I may have missed it, but if anyone else struggled with the red and green around the policies in the main view: this acts as an indicator for whether you can increase or decrease a policy. The center point is the top, and if a policy is able to be increased there will be red or green going clockwise. If it can be decresed there will be red or green to the left. It will be red if you do not have enough political capital, and anything you have enough political capital for will be green. It makes the screen go from very offputting to alot of useful information in front of you.

    Very helpful to me too! All the arrows, symbols, political capital, causes and effects etc, really helped me understand the game better now. I was just clicking and moving sliders around like a madman without reading the descriptions in the sliders and popups. Did the same in dem 3. Wow, eye opener and a fresh way to play it when I get back later. Thanks!!!

    I like these games because while not perfect, it does help people understand things such as long term policy and economic government implementations. The change is not 'instant' as in real life and most times flows over to the next administration who takes credit. Good stuff. Love the game and videos. Keep it up.

    • @TobelPlays
      @TobelPlays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I bet someone in the Democracy forums has found settings that are a bit more accurate. I find the defaults in the early access a bit easy once you get the hang of it. Maybe a tad more debt, a political environment that is at odds with what you will play as (so if you're planning on going more liberal, make the population more conservative)

    I just got the game and let's just say it's very hard. Hardest part so far has been not knowing what to do. It's for some reason quite difficult to understand how certain things will affect how the people think about stuff. Also the "popularity with voters" when looking at a policy is something I have trouble with. Of course I want it to be as high as possible but sometimes it's hard to understand why the voters don't like that spesicif policy. I wish there was more different starting set ups as all the non-dlc countries are countries with very western ideologies. The dlc then offers a wider variety of countries but as I'm still learning and not sure if I like it or not I will not be buying it at the moment. I was quite surpriced that the game didn't have countries like China, Niger or Saudi-Arabia as there would have been many different types of challenges there but I guess it's also so that they can later sell those as dlcs.
    Edit: I have to add that I am in the end my biggest enemy as it feels wrong to implement policies that go against my own values even though it's a game but in a way I also really enjoy making the ethical decissions but role-playing so far has proven to not be my cup of tea.

    Nice video. I've never played democracy 4 before, and after watching the full video, I have only one single question if anybody knows: When the elections are held? Does it depend on the country and the number of quarters?
    Edit:
    Another question: what happens if you lost the elections? Does that mean that the game is over and you have to start all over again?

    • @TobelPlays

    • @TobelPlays
      @TobelPlays  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the laws in your country for term limits. You can (if you have enough support/political capital) modify the term limit to set yourself up for life, basically.

    • @Triantalex
      @Triantalex 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TobelPlays Germany has an unlimited term right? So the game would let me have 20 terms if I would be good enough, wouldn't it?

    • @majorphysics3669
      @majorphysics3669 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Triantalex Yes. Places like the USA has a term limit of 2, so the president can only be president 2 times. In Canada (and Germany i suppose, I don't know about european politics lol) there is no term limit, so you can be the leader for as long as you can get re-elected.

      Term limits are not that even common in democracies, I don't think. Keep in mind that a lot of countries have a parliamentary system - the head of state being ceremonial and the head of govt having the real power - and the ruling party is expected to be kicked out before too long in any case.

    Good video but I'm finding out that no, you're wrong. When you were changing the slider for military spending, it *wouldn't* make liberals "grumpier" to lower military spending, rather it will make them happier. The darker shaded portion is where things were *before* the change, making the lighter shaded portion where things are *after* the change.

      Forgive me; I had just awoken from a nap. I mean, I wasn't wrong, but I'm sorry for the way I phrased everything I guess. This video helped me greatly, and I'm actually forever grateful for what you've done for the gaming community.
      Numerous people have taken gigantic and positive steps to aid in this gaming evolution, working from their respective positions and roles to change the course of history for the better. Sir, I just want to say, that your attitude, spirit, visions, and creativity have attributed to some of the most pivotal and progressive changes in the industry. Without these revolutionary videos, we wouldn't be at the point we are today, and video games would be nowhere near the level they are currently at.
      The gaming industry is worth almost $200B; I'm told that we the community don't even realize the debt we owe to this beautiful man who we'll always love, but whose face we'll never see -- TobelPlays.
