I would love to see the Devs put in paper airplanes that allows you to build and glide around on the map more easily.
The size comparison won't work it would be like the size of the brood mother or manyis

I had the idea that they will implement a hang glider made of tree leaves and I also had the idea that they will implement a butterfly to get to use their wings as a kind of winged suit with more durability than the hang glider and apart from that you can use energy to raise yourself a little more.
What also helps massively is blocking off the entrances to the area with multiple walls and spiketraps
That's what I was wondering.. where they spawn from.
- Mint mace - maxed; fresh damage works pretty well against everything in raid
- Berserker - +25% damage when enraged; health regen; no perfect block
- Guard Dog - +50% damage during defense events - guess what this one is
- Ant-nihilator - +25% damage vs ants; +10% extra defense vs ants (attack waves are mostly fire ants)
- Cardio Fan - you need lots of stamina to run around and swing the mace
- Spicy Safety - 50% damage reduction from stabbing and smashing (all types of Black Ox Beetle attacks, some types of Ladybird attacks)
- Entomologist Badge - +10% damage; no perfect block (Berserker disables that anyway)
The result is that first two swings of the Mint mace will kill a worker ant. Third one can kill another one. Due to splash damage you can even get more out of it.
With Spicy Safety the Black Ox Beetle is not much of a threat, and some Ladybird attacks will do reduced damage as well.
Build a couple of Pebblet Turrets against flying insects. They do triple damage during defense events and stuff to build them is in nearby storage.
Repairing of damaged walls might be useful but having some spare bricks in the inventory and rebuilding destroyed walls is faster.

Ive never seen this in a youtube video, but if your using a crossbow. After you fire a shot, block and it will cancel the reload animation and shoot arrows 10x faster.

I beat this by making palisade walls w/spikes at the 5 paths leading towards the MIX.R modules. When the walls are really far away from their objective they kind of just stand there.. :-)
I set mine up very similar, thats awesome we're almost identical in the defense build.
Just like u i was totally overprepared.
Had 5 layers of half high mushroom bricks at the entrances and 3 layers with some spike traps around the 3 targets. Widow dagger works wonders.
The bugs even failed to brake through the outer defence ring.
I am doing a Hardcore Whoa Mode run on live stream and next Friday I am going to start building something just like that! Hahaha...
Spy, it looks as if the bugs come in from certain directions, through gaps in the terrain?!
Would it be possible to create a clay barricade across those gaps with spike strip's on the outside to impede their progress and allow for greater defence?
You could also keep the mushroom half walls as part of that defence!

I tried that. There are 4 pathways and an open terrain to the east side. Problem is, the ants spawn really close to the mix.rs. It seems that only dust mites and big bugs comes up through the pathway.

I wouldn't mind seeing teleporters. Make them to teleport to field stations or bases.
Disclaimer! With the new patch 5 hours ago, the devs nerfed the amount of enemies in this defense, and also buffed Wendells attacks.
It was already super easy why did they just hannded it us?
what a joke this suppose to be a final defense it has to be tough and intense, the great satisfaction in the end when you beat it. If this is ez I feel sorry for new players
Really? We just tried it last night with a 3 man and had twice this many bugs, within a dozen fliers instead of one. It's very rough.
Edit: Update if anyone cares, we absolutely crushed it by over preparing big time. Made 4 layers of walls and walled up the entrances too. Turrets, bombs, spike traps. Farming healbassas and a few more upgrades. They didn't even get to the 4 walls around each building this time.
Lesson learned, stop them in the trenches leading to the mixr area and use turrets to kill fliers easy.

One mosquito! I got about 7. Had to go back and build a roof on all the structures. Also a bunch of spike traps all over helps.

I have full Maxed Lvl 9 Mighty gear. Im probably going to craft hundreds of stacks of mushroom walls and spike traps for this.
I would recommend crafting a chest near the site with extra materials and heals as well.
Also, Crow feathers or stems are very good for ceilings.
Has anyone messed with the pebble turret? I'm wondering if you build a wall to block off that ramp up and put a pebble turret with a good vantage right there if you couldn't make things a lot easier on yourself. But I've never had something substantial during a defense quest to test the turret on, so maybe they're bad.
Turrets are great when playing with friends and against flying insects. For solo players, turrets have a really slow fire rate and insects just run you over.
I built far less than the above video and used turrets instead. Made it super easy.
this took me few tries gotta say Cement walls worked much better and only took two rows on each conductor followed by 2-3 rows of mushroom brick walls, and spikes. Broodmother mask and club with fresh dmg was my go-to weapon during this defense only switched to salt morning star for blackox beatles, otherwise with crit stacks and speed overall smooth sailing.
i would recommend a salty hammer instead of fresh. the mint mace can handle ladybirds just fine and the black ox beetles are the tankiest out of all the bugs. i struggled a lot due to not being able to take them down in time.
Good advice, Zygarde. I use fresh because of my main weapons build prior 1.0. Next week I will start working on the new weapons guide, let's see how it will end up. 😁
Sour battle axe made quick work of any orc. I think they are vulnerable to sour.

Sorry for Zao. But I rewinded the video like ten times and it still looks like Wendell actually shot him/her (idk) and he/she survived but he/she flyed to the ground and said goodbye to you (the pets not just smart in real life they're also smart in grounded)

This is so neat. I blocked off all entrances and that cliff the ants falls down from. I used club of the mother demon for everything except mosquitoes

It should work, it was made easier after this video.
You don't need to build that much, just cut the 3 ways to get to the mixers and most of the bugs won't even make it to them
Hi King Leo, I tried to do that with the 4 pathways but the ants spawned close to MIX.Rs instead of walking up the pathways.
@@ThePartisanSpy Yeah I had blocked all 4 routes, and they either can blow through them, or go around them I didn't have nearly as pretty of a placement as you did, but ultimately did similar to you when I succeeded in building up on the mixrs and that kept them safe. Wish I had your vid yesterday!

Very helpful, as usual! 👍Question: once you find Dr Tully....do you take him to the Ominent Lab and the final boss first or complete the 3 MIX.R Modules first., and then go for the final boss? Does the sequence matter? Some have reported getting stuck somewhere along the way and not being able to complete the game. What is the safest path to reach the ending? Thanks for you help. ☺
Finishing the boss in the Moldorc castle first & then doing the embiggening process will get you the best story outcome. Doing the embiggening process first will get you the “bad” ending.

I haven't tested all the possibilities yet, but turning on the Mysterious Machine before killing the final boss happens what Stealthy Zombie said, you get the "bad" ending. I don't know what Stealthy Zombie means by "embiggening process". I finished the Troubles Brewin' Quest and today I am going to kill the final boss and turn on the Mysterious Machine. I will let you know what happens. 👍

Trouble Brewing is the “embiggening process”, it’s where you start crafting the embiggening fluid needed to grow big… after Trouble Brewing you’re on to the final mission of the game, going big. Tully mentions the “embiggening process” quite often while doing the Troubles Brewing quest line.

Using sour weapons actually does more damage to all orc bugs so a sour battle axe or a sour weapon would probably be better

Natural Explorer has a debuff while in combat so would consider swapping that out for something else.

Little hint: build a rooftop on your "tobedefended" to deal with flying additionals.
usually you don't need to worry about flying unless you play with your friends. On single player, there is only one flying at the hardest difficulty.
@@yao5921 the recent update might have changed this, I play single player too, but i encountered more than 3 fireflies and mosquitos too.
Aren't the mosquitoes a problem? Do they bother with the half walls or just go straight for the mixrs?
Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. But at your first hit they will aggro on you.

The first 5 enemies i got were tiger mosquitos.... Have to rebuild the entire thing.

Don't worry about that. The game will make an automatic save before the end of the game so that you can load it back and keep playing.

It will take you more hits to kill with the Salt Morning Star but it also works. To craft the Tier 3 Hammer I first kill the BoBs with the Salt Morning Star.

Mint mace is better for the lady bug im using the fist build so basically u use fire ant leggings termite chestplate if u want and brood mother helmet mutations meat sheild truffle fussle lil fist assasin and blade master and for assasing and blade master they r the bleeding mutations you will do bleeding with ur fists
Yeah, good suggestion. Things have changed a bit since this video was posted. Not just the weapons but the mission was made it easier.
Why use a hammer against the black ox beetle? You could just use a salt morning start
A lot has changed in the game in the last 7 months. Today the Sour Staff is the best weapon to complete this mission in my opinion.
This game is way more difficult than it should be even on normal.

You can't repair the MIX.Rs during the fight. If you fail to defend, I believe you can, but I would just reload the save. :)

Am i the only one on xbox series x, who can never get the build blueprints to place intersected like you have in the video, some will go together but the majority wont even place. Its so frustrating when trying to build stuff!

Half walls defence is like 3/8 bars full walls is 7/8. Does that not matter?
It does, you could build fewer walls with full walls. I prefer the half walls because give me more vision and are easier to go around.

ngl as a singleplayer person that wants to play this casually i really dislike the amount of defenses needed it just feels like a unneccesary time gate kinda feel like not finishing this game :/ especially with resource respawn times being as they are (allready had the ''fun'' of toenails)
For this specific mission, they made it easier for solo players. So you will need to build less than I did.

Mrh, I had some problems with this mission, and reloading the save worked for me. On the last game patch, there was a bug fix regarding this quest, I would suggest reading it ( grounded.obsidian.net/news/grounded/patch-1-0-2 ) and opening a ticket with Obsidian, they answer every message they get. support.obsidian.net/article/63-how-do-i-get-help-with-grounded

@@MMrHaVoC, not in this case, as I said, it just had to reload the game. When they identify a bug in the game, it is fixed on the next patch. So if your game is bugged, they will identify the issue and fix it on a future patch.

Yes, ash walls are stronger but more expensive. After this video, they also made the quest easier for solo players so you can beat it with the walls I built.

Schmector first. Craft the Acid Axe and than do the Javamatic.

For me I just lots of spaced out random full walls. The AI is not very clever and will try to attack the walls one by one. With them spaced out the insects won't be able to damage more than one wall per attack so it is much more efficient.

About how much mushroom brick did it take?
On the 1.0.1 patch, they made this quest easier for solo players. I used around 500 half walls, you should be able to defend the modules with 300-350 half walls.
So how much mushroom brick was needed for this setup?
Around 1.000 bricks, but after this video they the quest easier for solo players so you can complete it with 500-600 bricks. 👍

This quest was made easier for solo players after this video went out. You need fewer structures to defend it.

Why does everyone play in third person? What's the benefits?
On 3rd person you can see and control your surroundings. Some people play in 1st person to have more immersive experience and perfect block better.
@@ThePartisanSpy I play in 1st but I noticed a lot of TH-camrs play in 3rd I thought I was missing something. I can see how 3rd person would make parkour a bit easier and able to see different routes easier. Thank you.

Not worth it. You have to build and interact with it. After built it can be destroyed by bugs.
Can't repair modules?! Oh no, I broke one a long time ago just to see what would happen....so I've screwed myself for the last mission....haha
You can’t repair during the mission, after you fail, you can repair and restart. 👍

How many brick did it take to build all this I'm on same mission now rip looks like a grind 🙃🤣
Almost a full inventory, so that's around 1.000 bricks. Remember there are some bricks in the Javamatic Storage. You can also try to build less, I build that much to be safe and because viewers have different skill levels. So the building I did will assure a safe victory.
You definitely don't need to build as much as he did. I built one set of walls around each mixr and then did a second layer with half walls and was able to hold it off just fine. I do play on mild though so I'm sure that will factor alot too.

Why did you have such a long period of time with no attackers??? I defeated the ORC scientist guy and I still had WAY more insects than you

I don't believe traps is worth. Materials required to build vs damage done doesn't seem to me a favorable equation.
This build no longer really works because there are mosquitoes and firefly’s to deal with now.

This is just way too much time and effort for me, and I'm on MILD difficulty. I'm just gonna tank it with friends instead. lol
I really wish this game didn't heavily rely on "more enemies = more difficulty." It makes the large/boss battles dreadful.
After this video, they made it easier for solo players. You should save your game and give it a try with fewer structures as I did.

Ladybirds are weak to fresh and smashing lol. Just use the Mint Mace bruh
Both weapons are good. I have a preference for the hammer because it uses 1/3 of the stamina the mint mace uses to kill the ladybird and allows me to raise my shield and take no damage. No worries about perfect blocking.
Mint Mace LVL 9 - 5 hits to kill a normal ladybird
Black Ox Hammer Fresh LVL 9 - 6 hits to kill a normal ladybird

Yes, useless. It is fun to play with it when with friends and against flying insects, but not as a solo player.

My game must be bugged? 1 hit with a range attack of the fire ants and my module is broken. Also the ants 1 hit my concrete walls. No time to even run to the ants. Nothing like in this video.
