NHL14 live the life was so much fun
Spent many hours in that mode. So much fun

NHL 02-NHL 04 was the pinnacle of EA video games.. not just hockey but every sport
99 on N64 was pure excellence

The Demon was hands down the greatest player in NHLgaming history.
Lindros could shoot,pass,hit. Absolute for sure.
The only problem is im from the era/type where we don't play teams of rivals and as a Panthers fan(esp then) we hated Lindros.
But I respected him a lot..
overall though I would remaster NHL 97 OR 99. Only reason I say 1997 is(Beezer on cover)
is because every teams best player or superstar got a signature move.
Like Gretzky,,Damphouse,,Flurry,Palfy,Bure speed Burst,,Lemeux,Neely had some spin move
and Hull,,Tchakuk,Roeni I will pay to have these remastered ;)

That was my first game
Nearly 10 years later, and NHL 14, primarily on the Xbox 360 for me, was hands-down, the best overall gameplay from start to finish in this games entire franchise.
It also is the only year that I can recall having some fun memories with my younger and older brothers having a bunch of random playoff scenarios. God what I would do to be able to go back to that time in life.
NHL 06 is my favorite too. Definitely 🐐 worthy

Not really. The skating was revamped and is actually realistic now, way more customization, Ones. There were some pretty significant additions. 17 and 18 were the same game, 19 is an improvement and a step in the right direction.

For me it was NHL01 for my early childhood, then I tried really hard on NHL13 and put a lot of time and effort into it, and finally now I play NHL19
I got to play 01 on the ps1 and 09 on ps3 both were a lot of fun ' also 16 on ps4 & was my least favorite of them all besides the nice graphics. I see that 19 has a high rating out of all them by far may need to check out.
06, 07, 14 were my absolute favorites. For sure 3 of the best

Hey man! Really enjoyed your video on the EA hockey titles. I do a Senators podcast with my buddy with whom we did an off season episode on our favourite hockey games. He put NHL 10 at #1, I argued 12 was better and put it at #1
Regarding the NHL 2004 cover. EA originally had Joe Thornton as the cover athlete but was cut before the game came out due to him assaulting a police officer and was changed to Heatley who was then cut because of the car accident and replaced by Sakic like you mentioned

I liked NHL 16 a lot however I found NHL 17 and 18 wasn't for my fit. But this year's game NHL 19 was just amazing I liked it a lot and hopefully they can bring back Winter Classic mode and everything

NHL 14 was the peak for me. I remember jumping into Drop In and everyone being on the mic and being cool until one player sucked then it was trash talk from there 😂
Really liked 06, but to me, 04 was the best because I thought it had the best GM mode of the second gen console era. Checks in that game felt amazing, too.
04 had the best GM mode. The fact you could customize your office shows you how much detail they put into GM Mode that year.
I totally agree with NHL 15 being in the awful category. The "full" beard option in be a pro is a 5 oclock shadow.

nhl 04 and 14 goat. every nhl game that ends with a 4 has been goat status. they are still making mods for nhl 04 on pc. and i think ppl know how important nhl 94 was.

10 and 14 are the GOATs. 09 was when they really started to get the skill stick locked down and was the only year they had the KHL. Game had some issues with tuning but otherwise amazing. Those were my top 3 NHL games going back to 2001. 02 gets an honorable mention for the soundtrack.

I played the first one EA hockey (European version) in 1994 1999 and 2012. 99 was great fun bit to arcadey 2012 bit too technical. Which one is the perfect balance between arcade and realistic?

I randomly picked up 2005 at a thrift shop the other day on PS2, Proceeded to buy a bunch of freaky hardware for it to run a PS5 controller, HDMI monitor etc on it, but im wondering if I should go get 06, 07 or 08 at a pawn shop. I remember playing 07 on PC years ago.

NHL 15 has almost no features. there is no offline shootout mode!
NHL 2001 [PC version] is my ALL-TIME favourite, right next to NHL '94.
#2, NHL 2005 with the World Cup mode
#3 NHL '14 with the NHL '94 mode

NHL 07 on the PSP was fucking amazing... and apparently it was based on the 06 engine
I always liked 04... then again that is when I was playing it on Game Cube. For some reason you can create players and they play at any age... even playing at age 10. In GM mode you can play as two players on each side and you can win much times as you want.
I did not like 2005 because there was no create player mode. in 2006 that is when GM mode only allows you to play for your team only.
04 and 05 were drasticallyyyyy different! Great review tho. I agree mostly! Just my $00.02

We need to start a video game purchasing union. This way we can control what we spend our money on. Imagine the power we would have. In one or two years we could have them making the games we want. It would bring them to thier knees!

They need to make NHL better than ever before, by having a more of a celebration when you win the cup, before having next season start's, they should have a cup parade, and they should have a longer entry into the start of the game, by having the team walking out of the locker room, and skating onto the ice at first person view, and they should have the teams enter the locker between periods, and have the coach speak to the team betweens periods, lets make nhl so real, I would love to see something like this happen, and if they don't when I get enough money I will do it, and it will become the best NHL game of all time. let me know if you feel the same well.

For me NHL 09 is the best ever. Spent hundreds of hours in the Be a Pro mode which was new. After that I only got 12 but didn’t like it and haven’t gone back to hockey games since. Starting playing FIFA around that time instead.

06 was the first one I owned. The only other games I've kept is 12 and 18. Seeing the evolution for every 6 years is more impactful than from year to year.

Nhl 97 for sega was and still is the most groundbreaking of all of ea nhl games. Signature moves,shoot with either hand , responsive manual goalie control, team morale,on ice chemistry , preloaded passes. But im still in air as to either 06 or 07 is better

*but I like the way 2006 feels ocmpaired to 2003..
But 03 sure was perfect if only it had a deeper GM mode...
