It's wonderful to hear that you've found peace amidst challenging circumstances. How have you managed to maintain this sense of tranquility in the face of toxicity?
Friendships and relationships are two way process we can't force anyone to be with us and no matter how good you are , people are opportunistic these days .
As I delve into the teachings of Stoicism, I experience a profound sense of liberation from the confines of my own thoughts. It's as though I'm discovering an inner voice that has always been there, yet was muted by my conditioning. The timeless wisdom of Stoic philosophy resonates within me, bridging the gap across time and space, as if speaking directly to my soul. I eagerly anticipate a future where I, too, embody these principles, becoming a beacon of understanding and insight. My aspiration is to find a fellowship of genuine Stoics, a community where I can share and grow in this journey. This is my heartfelt hope and earnest desire.
Stoicism is the truth. It actually teaches everything you need to do when wanting to recovery from OCD which I have in the past year. Being in the present, not reacting to uncomfortable emotions etc.

All these principles are very useful for appreciating life and relationships, living accordingly with one's goals, being authentic and autonomous. The "guilt as a curse" is also very interesting. We were taught to feel guilt when, instead, we should be taught to be conscious of our mistake and avoid it next time. The "avoid toxic people" is very important. It's not easy with family members and close friends, yet it is a basic one for a better life.
As a Nevil Goddard's follower I can't agree or listen to the whole thing. You should never be prepared for the worst, you should always expect the best because you receive what you expect!
I understand your perspective. Expecting the best can be a positive attitude that influences your mindset and experiences. Always remember that your expectations can significantly shape your reality.
I just discovered this particular channel few days ago, so life changing 😮❤❤❤ Causes us to do reflections and reevaluate the way our life is right now. Change is good.❤❤❤
These people are called narcissists they are sick! This is often caused by trauma in the early years of their lives. That’s why the world is like it is. It’s a pity that ‘normal’ people always have to be on their guard and can’t be themselves. Perhaps there should be more attention to trauma.
Wise teachings for all men of all ages , if only we had someone like this in our early years , but even as older adults, we still learn and adapt to new circumstances and paths of life wherever it takes us 👍👍👍
First they say Epictetus, then they stay stoic.. those are two different things. Epic's primary philosophy was the pursuit of pleasure (or more accurately the avoidance of discomfort). An actual stoic philosophy pursues purpose.
Stoic mind: The beginning of the video is so true and for me it was "The family" that always hindered me. It's sad to have that happen from sisters and brothers before me. That was my journey growing up was to fight their envy of me. It can really mess you up and stump your growth in life. I know my mom was a narcissist and she hated me for being so sensative and so I wasn't able to have feelings in a way or a voice to speak out, so to be listened to. She hated seeing herself in me.
The key word her is "act"° I disagree with acting! One should be real and know how to reign in your emotions that can lead to lost painful words! I am not fake! But I know when and who to share certain things. Being yourself allows others to feel comfortable with you and they will open up! Use discernment!

Active listening indeed forms the cornerstone of understanding your query, Marcus A. Each individual, including yourself, navigates through unique circumstances. The pursuit of knowledge should not be about judgment but about fostering inner growth and self-improvement. By actively listening and absorbing the experiences and wisdom of others, we can enrich our own journey, learning not to criticize but to evolve from within.

I've used this tactic a lot in the past, especially on relationships. But time passes, and here i am, older and suffering alone... It could be worse if others knew.
Yes, I'm one who likes to hear myself say it, even though he ignores it. You know why? Because I have to keep myself in check with being fluent when I'm not with the abuser. If we don't exercise following through in speech, it can cause gaps in our speech growth when we are with normal human beings (he's not all human) and therefore, I need to say it and hear it.
