21:46 yes; when there's no circuit board in the top of the cartridge, that means that the game has no battery backup for saving which usually doesn't bode well for the quality of the game
Yeah, nah, they're much higher quality than that. They would cost about $30 or $40 in a retail store. Maybe not at Walmart but in the mall or in a 'geek' store.
I just realized what a collectors dream it would be if Q-Fiq made their figures more appropriately proportioned and more realistic. I'd buy those in a heart beat
I've not read or watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but from my experience with the frnachise, "Obliviate" is the spell that can wipe peoples memories, very flexibly, actually, as it can remove certain items or people from their memory instead of just wiping the whole thing. From that, i assume an "Obliviator" is a member of a special enforcement group who essentially go around cleaning up magical mishaps, their name coming from the spell they use to make muggles forget the magic things they've witnessed.
Believe it or not, there's actually _four_ Free Willy films. The last one stars Steve Irwin's daughter. Now you know just a little bit more useless information. :)
That worm was my favourite beanie baby as a kid, his name is Inch the worm. I had a bunch of the beanie buddies as a child since my mom bought me one every time I had surgery
The beanie buddy is Inch the worm. Considering they're everywhere, it's a bit of a cop out that yours didn't have its swing tag (the manic collector inside me tells me this is every type of wrong...)
I had that yellow dog! I'm pretty sure it was a "Puppy in my pocket" that I got free in a Kellogg's cereal box, I had loads of them at one point. Pretty sure they're still in my attic somewhere. Weirdly I had one that was a Westie with a wound on it that disappeared when you ran it under hot water.
I've got an idea for an 80s Nostalgia pack, for $20 a month you get all kind of cool 80s things like VHS tapes and Cassettes and other things I can find to buy for 10 cents apiece.
The Nostalgia Box is kind of interesting simply for the vintage toys which must have been more difficult to source than whatever random shit Guangdong China is pumping out this week.
I used to play Jungle Hunt when I was a kid. It's similar to a more linear version of Pitfall. It's actually pretty fun at least in the sense that as I recall the control is pretty solid. Very beatable for a kid.
At this point I think Funko Pop mainly exists to take up space in these shitty boxes. That way they can save the rest of the shelf warming items they got in bulk for low prices because nobody else would buy them for future boxes, thus stretching out their inventory for years.
It is the latest in fake as hell collectibles. In ten years time it will go into obscurity hell where Beany babies and cabbage patch kids await them with open arms.
The real obscurity is the niche high quality collectables. The issue is less that they are "fake" and more that they're cheap, low quality disposable plastic lumps that everyone and their literal mother buys and thus fall into the category of cabbage patch and beanie babies.
d3v1lsummoner I'd argue that beanie babies don't qualify simply because cabbage patch dolls have gone through at least a reboot or two, and beanie babies are both actually cute and have never been "rebooted" - the classic style is still made, despite several spin-off/offshoot styles over the years. Some were exclusive to fast food kids' meal prizes, much like Barbie, Hot Wheels, and several other well known toy "brands" have done.
Mikalhvi I should clarify that I mean to say that "everyone and their literal mother" bought Beanie Babies and not that they are "cheap, low quality disposable plastic lumps." They do fit the category of inflated pricing for what they are and over-proliferation though, at least during the 90s, not so much now.
fun fact: the actor who played Jesse in Free Willy is called Jason James Richter and in 1997 he had some small part in both Rugrats AND Sabrina The Teenage Witch. And Toy Box had gifts from these three shows... hmmm
More of those shit pop vinyls that trendies buy because they're overly simple and easily identifiable brand-wise, which for some reason is suddenly "cool" and dictates an absurd amount of shelf space at game shops that never seem to be able to sell them.
Saltiest Pearl I wouldn't either if it wasn't so obvious that they're overly popular because a lot of hipsters want to pretend to be a part of "nerd culture" because it's suddenly popular to get pretend to get invested in a video game's lore and buy overly expensive yet cheaply made merchandise.
That Michaelangelo was the first turtles figure I ever owned! That, plus the equivalent Leonardo. My brother receiving the wind-up Raphael and Donatello. Great stuff!
The first season was written by the guy who wrote Freaks and Geeks and also by TV's Frank from MST3k. It really did have some genuine humor in the early days.
The things in this box are all expensive and you can find this out easily. The Q Fig could go for £14.95 - £19.95 (it isn't listed on the website), the notebook could go for £11.99 - £19.99 (dependent on its material), the comic can go for £7.64 - £10.74. The cost of the content is £34.58 (assuming that they are all of the lowest value I found) or about $43, this isn't including the cost of the t-shirt or the manufacturing of the pin. They aim to get $45+ worth of value in a crate for around £25, meaning they would loose profit if they threw everything in the box. It's either have a small amount of high quality items that are more expensive, or a load of cheap crap thrown in to reach the box's value see; inflatable crown.
Six whole, entire, years later, and my husband is still frequently wearing his Superman socks and despite routine trips through washer and dryer, the capes are still attached, must have been sown on with one of the Man of Steel's own hairs!!
Man, the girl's nostalgia box is pretty fucking great. If I were to subscribe to one of their boxes I'd probably go with the girls' one over the boys'/generic 90's one.
Those little dog figures in the 'Girls' box may well have been cereal box toys. My grandma used to give me all the things that came with her boxes of Sugar Puffs etc. and since I had quite a number of the dogs, including some duplicates, I think that may well have been the source.
@16:05 Pretty sure that's supposed to be a reference to Tiny Tim, the dude who is famous for singing 'Tiptoe Through the Tulips' in an incredibly high-pitched voice.
JAZZ HANDS Quite frankly, I like it when Stuart unboxes the Toy Box subscription boxes, because you get stuff that doesn't exist or that are harldly talked about anymore. With the CrootLate unboxing, it starts to get a little formulaic and I don't we'll ever see Ashen getting angry at something to the likes of an inflatable crown or shoelaces. Ive been thinking of buying one of those Toy Boxes, mostly the 90's and girls one, because that's the era I was born in.
+Lucas Cawley I think he meant that the items are harder to find, the items are all (or at least most) collected from garage sales meaning you wouldn't be able able to find them in shops
When some British guy folds yer shirt up and smashes the back of your favorite head up against a cardboard box and asks "Have you paid your dues?" You do what ole Jack Burton does and look that limey right in the eye and tell him "Yes sir, the Paypal cleared yesterday!"
i wonder how many other people have said this, but, the "yellow" tops in the original star trek were all this green colour, only the material made them look yellow to the camera. it is a greeny yellow compared to some later very yellow ones, so, that sounds quite similar to what happened with the tshirt tbh. kind of just made the colour lighter.
If anyone in the USA is after something like the Toy Box, there's something called Your Toy Box and a recent thing called the Nostalgia Crate that basically do the same thing for American audiences. The Nostalgia Crate is slightly more expensive, but has more stuff.
I don't get it either. Here in Canada they are HUGE. A certain video game store devotes about 25% of it's wall space to these figures. More space than all the various Nintendo systems COMBINED.
I don't find any appeal to them at all, either. **looks at Lucario amiibo for a second** Maybe it's because they're just meant to sit on your shelf and "look pretty"?
I have the fallout ones and mlp ones because I can't afford the more accurate figures and I just enjoy the style. I understand why people don't like them because there is definitely too much space wasted on them but the figures for the lower prices are pretty good if you get the right ones.
Because of manga I started reading western comics right to left now without noticing. I do it with newspaper comic strips and get confused. So now I feel like right to left makes more sense. Thanks manga.
Lucas Cawley why are you so upset? I'm not upset with you because I know I'm smarter than you. Is that why you're upset, because you weren't smart enough to understand my joke at first?
Fun Fact: The guy who played Jesse in Free Willy 2 was also in one episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch (the other park of cards) and one episode of Rugrats (the Game Boy game). It shoulda been called the Jason James Richter box.
Nothing like waking up with a coffee and to a new Ashens video where he unboxes (85% of it anyway) shite in my Sub Feed!!! Seriously though, why are those fucking Funko Pop vinyl figures still popular man??!! *Sigh*...
A subscription service for retro toys is legitimately a great idea. Also not gonna lie, kinda want that Disney comic. The Rescuers 2 is my favourite Disney movie. "Doesn't he die at the end?" If you count falling off a waterfall in typical "Disney likes cop out death scenes" fashion then yes.
Big Trouble in Little China was one of my favorite childhood movies. And it looks like Totally Angelica is a mini game collection with dress up features. Also available on PSX and PC. It's one of those games you give a small child so they will shut up and leave you alone while you cook dinner and do laundry. I'd say Loot Crate went in the right direction with quality over quantity. I'd rather have a handful of nice items than a ton of cheap junk.
Having never seen a single episode of Game of Thrones, I have to say that the entire thing has been ruined for me to the point that I can't watch it anymore. Sure, Ashens contributed to the damage, but was not solely responsible.
FlipFlopGaming I feel the same way towards MLP FIM... And the sad thing is I was kinda into it without knowing any better due to reapeted visits on Cheezburger's brony section... Now I'm more into Monster High!

That's the second time this week Sabrina's popped up, as I recently found out the Sabrina the Teenage Witch TV series was based on an Archie Comics comic from the 70s.

Good luck finding a q- fig or one of them game of throne note books in a dollar store
Even if I found one at a dollar store, I wouldn't buy it.
The t-shirts are the only thing worth it. They're high quality. You wouldn't be able to buy similar shirts for $20 anywhere.
Cheeply mde but not cheeply sold.
Yeah, nah, they're much higher quality than that. They would cost about $30 or $40 in a retail store. Maybe not at Walmart but in the mall or in a 'geek' store.

i guess after all free advertising is still advertising none the less.
Nostalgia in a box is probably the best box
Fallout3: lone wonder
Fallout NV: career
Fallout 4: sole survivor
Fallout 3 was Lone Wanderer, not Lone Wonder.
Copy Pod NV's protagonist was called The Courier
Copy Pod Fallout 1: Vault dweller and Fallout 2: Chosen One
I used to looooove that Rugrats Totally Angelica game lol you play a bunch of mini games at a mall to earn beauty items/clothes for a fashion show lol
Ashens must make a fortune from all the Funko Pop he sells
Captain Ron is undeniably Kurt Russel's best role.
OH BOY NEW ASHENS
Jungle Hunt is one of the good ones for the 2600.
yay! new ashens!
That's the second time this week Sabrina's popped up, as I recently found out the Sabrina the Teenage Witch TV series was based on an Archie Comics comic from the 70s.
Do you mean Kid Muscle?
The main character?
I also remember Talespin. I liked it a lot, even though I hardly remember anything about the show now outside of it being a thing I liked.
Ultimate Muscle cartoon.
I love this! Thanks for such a amazing video. I think I might have an addiction to these!
