Almost perfect, but needs some firmware updates: Ability to side load FM engine patches via SoundMondo or similar mechanism; Leslie simulation update, for the organists grousing about that effect.
The Leslie simulation is weak IMHO and I certainly hope that Yamaha improve it through future firmware updates just like Korg and Kurzweil did with their Leslie simulations. I had a Kurzweil PC361 that initially had a weak sounding Leslie that was dramatically improved with a subsequent firmware upgrade.
So what does the “Panel Lock” function actually do? Instructions say it determines whether the panel lock features are enabled or disabled. But what does it ACTUALLY do?
Just went to a music store to demo this unit... all good except the Leslie sim was very very very weak. Too bad there isn’t an alternate output to run the organ out to a Ventilator or real Leslie. I was able to directly compare the YC61 against a Nord 6D; Studioligic Numa Organ; Korg Kronos; Hammond SK1 and the Mojo 61. The YC61’s Leslie sim failed (last place) against all the other organs. Most notable was the Numa and the Nord.
Which is laughable, as they sell it as an organ board .. What a copycat design from nord too, if they had the red color it would be virtually the same. And then they call Nord overpriced, jeez
I love this keyboard. Bought one about 3 months ago. Already played it 200+ hours and can't stop. Amazing instrument.
My hunt for a good organ to learn on brought me here,,, I can't play a single chord, but now... well, this is motivational,, to say the least.

I thought it was pretty terrible as well. The new update they put out a few days ago has dramatically improved it! Loving it now!
@@ianperesmusic that's great if they've improved it. I'm an organ player first and foremost so a decent rotary emulation is crucial for me.
Great review! Wish your dogs woulda made an appearance. Best organ out there.

Is there a Yamaha model like this, OTHER than the Reface YC that has internal speakers ? Thanks.
Ck61 Yamaha
Can you overlay or apply a waveform on any of the instruments (organ, piano sounds)?
Any hope to see a 73 weighted action version?? Great instrument.
As of this week apparently there is.
YC73 has weighted keys, YC88 has hammer action weighted keys.

YC: The Leslie killer.
