I got one, and they aren't kidding when they say it's probably the last synth you'll ever need or own, because it gets upgraded pretty frequently, there's new features almost 2 times a year (up till now, at least). But be warned tho, this is a BEAST - and by that I mean also a BEAST to learn. It's not strange considering they tried to make this the synthesizer that has it all. And they're not kidding, it DOES have it all. But that takes a TON of time to learn. In fact there's so many sub-menus in there that you can get entirely lost in tweaking anything, because tweak you can - endlessly so. There's a TON of secrets in it as well, very few are aware of that you can make sound influence other sounds as well as your VOICE or tons of other parameters. And to top that off, you got like 18+ filters (and no, I'm not referring to age restrictions here) with it's own horde of menus and sub-menus, you can even combine a few of them. If I where to explain the synth in a few words, I'd say - think an Arranger meets a Synthesizer and together they have a RACK of Special Effects kids. If you're one of those people who just hates DAW production, and like to do things LIVE and HANDS ON as you form, shape and create new sounds and music, then this is your baby. Protip: There's an undocumented feature built right in, you can MIRROR the 7 inch display onto an older type Dell Touch Screen (or any regular old VGA/DVI/HDMI screen with a cheap generic USB 2 to VGA/HDMI adapter (make sure you get the USB 2 type one, because USB type 3 won't work, at all) This means you can have a big screen in front of you to see what you do, and believe me - you'll need it with the 100's of menus this BEAST is going to throw at you. And last: For those of you who can't afford this beast, it has a little sister called MODX, it's ALMOST the same synth, except there's a few sacrifices for the MASSIVE price cut (gotta save somewhere), here they are - easily summed up for you: The MODX has 64 FM polyphony instead of 128 (Montage). 44.1 KHz instead of 192 KHz (Montage). All Plastic instead of Metal (Montage). 4 Sliders and Knobs instead of 8 (Montage). Low tier keyboard instead of top-tier (Montage). 1 GB user ram instead of 1.75 GB (Montage). Velocity sensitivity but no Aftertouch (Montage has Aftertouch). No Touch-Slidebar (Montage has it). No Slider or Knob position indicators (Montage has these). No preset collection (Montage has an entire keyboard of those to the right of the synth). Other than that, they've got the same menus, same features, and same sound creation possibilities etc. Not bad for a 1K$ lil-sister of the 3K$ Montage.
@@tuneunleashed Well depends, the way you say it "every one comes with midi and thus is futureproof" I assume you mean used for VST's. That's not what I meant. I meant a synth that is so powerful you can make every sound you'd ever want, no extra computers with VST's needed (unless you're lazy).
Are there no patch/sound numbers? I'm a bit puzzled as to how to scroll through the sounds and remember the patch number of the ones i like? I know you can add to favourites or create a setlist - but surely there must be patch numbers to every patch - like there are in every other keyboard. Am i missing something ?
I think if i could get one of these i would but you cant find this specific one anywhere. I own the kawai mp7se, and it has far better action than ANY yahama keyboard, and kawai is the only brand where you can actualy feel the escapement, though yamaha advertises they have escapement you dont feel it at all and there isnt ONE yahama board i tried thats impressed me, i think a great combination would be the 73 key version of this with the MP7se on the bottom. Even the most expensive yamaha keyboard dosnt feel as good as the action on the mp7se. Yamahas action on the p515, which is the same as the YC88, is way too heavy, So TO my tastes, kawai is my bread and butter
Hello . the piano on the Yamaha montage sounds better than the DGX 670 - 660 cvp?The quality of the piano and the sound. I use 2 Hs7 monitors and a Yamaha Hs8s subwoofer. Please answer me . thank you very much . Horia
Does it have the same voices as Geno's I have a Geno's but not going to buy another Yamaha if they have the same sounds in a different keyboard unless the build the same keyboards and mix it in all together as arranger as siqnizer
"Everything you need to know?" Your video did not provide anywhere near the things that I wanted to know. Therefore you either make false claims or you are very arrogant with your titles. I begrudge the 8 minutes wasted watching this sales brochure.

Would it be as easy to Layer Tracks as easy as what ive seen on the Roland Fantom in those 4+4+4 videos on TH-cam.
How is the "Sequencer" ? Is it easy or what ? I haven't heard no one talk about it .
Isn’t every synth that you would need is the last synth you should ever own? Since every keyboard has MIDI nowadays which makes it future proof?

@@CVC509 But he told you "everything you need to know". You must have missed it.
☢️ Warning ☢️ : This Not Only Requires Keyboard but Also Skills like him
1:50 I have never heard the sound of a guitar come out of a keyboard before, especially so crisp and clear. Wow.
Awesome! 1:24 reminded me a part of a Symphony X song called The Death of Balance towards the end before Lacrimosa.
Imagine if Bach, Beethoven or any of the other greats would have had one of these. Are the keys weighted?
The 88-key version is.
I've had my Montage 7 for six years and can't imagine needing anything else...
Same as I have and I agree. A deep machine.
This instrument deserve more than like
Yamaha the best on the planet
Wow this is a great synth for recording music with it! 🤩
I’ve learned so much from you thank you so much
So tempting to get one .

Beautiful Engine……..
Been more than 15 years out of the synth game. Is this a modern EX5?
With some of the sounds you can work for American Airlines
This instrument is not for regular musicians this is for studios production
Poppycock, anyone can achieve fantastic results on any keyboard
Disagree. This is excellent for live performance.
@Yassin Zao PREACH!
@@billnorswether3720 Also Preach! I gave mine away but I do miss the synth section from time to time
