Don't forget john wick is know as boogeyman

Ethan Hawke didn't see the films before shooting those scenes so his reactions are genuine. Love those small touches in horror films.
So was it unscripted that he started downing gulps of liquor lol?
@@louis8487 he probably still had ques for what he was supposed to physically be doing in the scenes even if the reaction to the footage itself is genuine. Besides the lawn work vid is the only one that is really a jump scare so the other vids it would be a lot easier to have a level reaction especially as a seasoned actor
@@mikedavidson6454 That makes sense, I just like the idea Ethan Hawke brought a bottle of liquor unprompted and made it a part of the scene.
@@louis8487 honestly considering who we are talking about i wouldnt be that surprised lmao
Chewy Chewy Gum Drop you know that’s actually a really good idea
Ethan Hawks reaction to the lawnmower was also my reaction to the lawnmower the first time I watched it. Like you know that the lawnmower is gonna run someone over but it's just so sudden, and horrific you can't actually brace for it. That's how you do a jump scare.
I almost flew out of my seat 😂
Yah. That was gross, in a film-appropriate way.
19:27 This jump-scare actually made me laugh
Yeah but did everyone laugh when he fell down the ladder huh??....that was hilarious.....dont the lights in the attic work?? why doesnt he just use his light on his mobile phone to illuminate thereby reducing likelihood of a scare...i mean not that i was scared at all when that face popped out of nowhere just above his head.....I mean who can ever get scared of a guy with cream cheese smeared on his face eh?
If you read the story version of Lawnmower Man, the Lawn mower isn't important, Dan Ackyroid is Nude and reprising his role as goofy neighbor in the movie "Neighbors."

I don't really have a suggestion, but I can't say how many movies I've felt safe watching and wanted to comment to thank you. I have a medical condition that can cause temporary paralysis during extreme emotion (like jump scares). Your descriptions not only help follow the story, but help me gage if and when such times will be to prepare for them. I'm sure this is a lot of fun for you, and love your joking antidotes after some reviews, but I also wanted you to know how helpful your reviews truly are for more than just understanding. I doubt I would still be able to enjoy the horror genre without your TH-cam reviews, so thank you!
That's one hell of a condition! Like one of those fainting goats (no offense).
@@franklind.roosevelt7416 No offense taken, it is actually a decent comparison, except the goats muscles seize up and mine just go limp. The condition is Cataplexy if you are interested, it accompanies some people who have narcolepsy. It is generally a stress related reaction that can be caused not only by being startled, but also things like laughter or anger to list a few. Not everyone has the same triggers and some people only lose partial control of a few muscles (like dropping things or slurring speech) while others lose control of all causing them to collapse to the ground. Either way, a person with cataplexy is concious and aware of their surroundings, the person just cant respond until the episode passes.

Note i don't believe you mentioned (correct me if I'm wrong) that I really lived was that every killing was connected to a core of the family's happy life's. Eg the kids playing in the swing hanging from the tree to them being hung, the family being burned in the car they used to go on outings to the lake, the pool party, etc. And also that the daughter ends up "painting" more or less at the end, along with the puns makes it so macabre and I love it

@James Hadley, I suppose that would depend on whether the one that moved out took the kids with them or not.
Agreed, the "chosen" child has to move, not necessarily the whole family. So I wonder if the kid goes to stay with the other parent for the summer, would that count? Would he come back to finish off the other half? If the separated parent has been remarried (with or without new/step kids) would the ones that have never been in the murder house be subject to sacrifice as well?

Frick, ruined it for myself.
Actually they are possed
For a ghoul he looks like a discount cosplay of that one Slipknot member
Sufian Abuahmad if I remember correctly, the director actually admitted to ripping off his design from Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson’s mask so yeah you’re actually right lmao
This movie scared the hell out of me. Saw in theaters 4 times it was so good
If he stepped on the scorpion the whole thing would’ve been over
but doesn’t he drop the box on the scorpion?
Most people here just pretend they ve seen the movie
You'd be a drunk with a lot to prove if your name was "Ellison", too.
SuccremeSauce joe
Ellison is a guys name. Norwegian for "Son of Elias," it's a popular given name for boys, with Allison as the name given to girls.
Cybermancer what’s with your passive aggressiveness, dude? Did Norwegians hurt you some way? I think the other guy just went for a "fun fact!" comment, and your whole reaction to it is super weird.
LMAOOO true true
🙃🙃
Man, that ain't Bagool.
That's just Bafool.
Tahm kench is freelo top
Ya know. I used to get down in the dumps about being unable to have kids. And then I remember this movie exists and I’m like nah im okay
i’ve followed for a long time and i’ve already seen this one but i came back to hear this again because sinister was just ranked as the scariest movie to watch. you have the best explanations!
One thing I love about this movie is that, unlike most modern horror films, it is not gratuitously graphic. The implication of such violence is scary enough.
Yeah even as a gore enjoyer in movies; I do rather prefer when horror is left to the imagination. Since it can be however grisly you can conjure
If it were me...:
(gets to the part of the hanging family the 1st time)
Nope *turns off tapes*
#nottodaysatan
Of course, this is the whole reason he moved into this particular house--to research the family's murder. I am a writer myself, and if I found that kind of documentation about something that I were writing about, I'd dig deeper too. Makes perfect sense to me!
And I get that! I do as a creative artist looking for inspiration. But it's situational for everyone. Personally, I wouldn't sacrifice my family's happiness for my selfish "needs" at the chance to be famous again. There's too much on the line.
Very good point. It's a character flaw in Ethan Hawke. Especially considering that, with only one real success under his belt, he really should have been focusing on building his skills. Certainly more than on riding his one success to fame and fortune!
@@wendychavez5348 if I'm a writer, I'm staying away from serial killers. Fuck that.
Rip to them but I'm different
I had 2 weeks worth of nightmares, and short phobia of such vintage cameras after watching this movie in cinema.
Man This Movie Got Me So *DEEP*
I enjoyed this movie so much, one of the only ones that truly scared me
It gets a lotta criticism but I absolutely LOVE THIS MOVIE.
