    Make that tang portion on the friction folder a littler wider, drill a hole that lines up with the handle and tang then can include a pin that fits through when knife is open and give it the option to be close to a fixed blade and a friction folder

    I own one of the original Expat Libertarians and hands down it one off the best outdoor tool I have. Every time I see some flashy new “do everything” blade, chopper, clever, small machete, ultra light hatchet, dedicated draw knife or such and I think “I got to have it”, I remember “you’ve already got it, its in one package and its a tool I’m not afraid to use!” Glad to see it’s back. Need to check out the friction folder. Thanks for the vid.

    I am having a real hard time imagining a task that a non locking folder would be a preferred tool choice, even multi tools have locking designs? Other than for legal reasons it seams to be the worst of both worlds between a locking folder and a fixed blade? I played around with a few 20$ types but found them to have more drawbacks than advantages in both carry and use. What am I missing, or is it just an aesthetics thing?

    • @TheTrueNorth11

      Shitty draconian local laws are the main reason.

    • @realbroggo
      @realbroggo ปีที่แล้ว

      While I do have a friend who collects traditional knives - inc. these styles, they exist mostly for legal reasons. eg. in France any folding knife with a 'locking system' is considered a weapon and cannot be carried in public without a 'good reason' (which is determined by the police at the time they search you!!). Have a great day.

    Ouch. This is a bit of a let down, Big reveal is a 170 dollar non-locking folder in 1095? Seems like a few steps backward to be honest. Collectors and "restricted" areas might appreciate this? Happy for Shane to get his design made but honestly 170$ for a non locking knife feels more "boutique" and less "Tool".

    I see a lot of people on here commenting saying ESEE needs to “step up their game” in production. The reason ESEE doesn’t have 150 models like junk Tops knives is because they test and test and test any new product they may want to produce. I would rather have that than a company like Tops knives (who has shitty heat treats by the way) that just throws crap against a wall to see what will stick. Would you rather have a knife that was abused and tested and changed till it’s almost perfect before hitting the market or an untested knife that you buy and hate it when you get it? I choose the tested one myself. What’s the good of having a 150 models when 90% of them are crap???

      I've been following Esee for many years (they are my go-to for field knives). They've almost always been like this - a few new releases at a time. I think their biggest issue is capacity. Their existing blades that have been around years still sell extremely well. As you can see in this vid they had to go to a new vendor just to get this one blade out to market. Usually a company would withdraw older products from market to create capacity for new lines - Esee just can't do this. Have a great day.

Esee is not going to walk away from manufacturers like Rowen who they have built a trusted relationship over years of testing and product support just so they can go with a new manufacturer to make collectors and Amazon package openers happy.
    If they switch to a different manufacturer they would be taking the time to build the trust up with those companies and those manufacturers would need to fit in with their company ethos.
