It'll be the first PF knife in my collection, can't wait to get it in hand too!
That SRM is interesting, but I'd really like to know what the steels are in the blade. One source says the center section is 140Cr, a high hardness / low corrosion resistance tool steel. Oh, and the one thing that Sencuts are missing that Civivi have always had is a D-shaped pivot barrel. It's annoying to have to open knives like that.

If I were including fixed blades in this vid, then heck yeah on the BFF. The other two knives you mentioned were released in 2023, or else they would have definitely been in contention to be featured in this one -DCA
Hey DCA, Thomas, and or Seth; question is for anyone to answer. I’ve always liked the looks and benefits of a partially serrated blade but I’m unaware or the best methods to resharpen the blade. I assume there’s different methods just based on differences in serrated “shapes”. Kershaw has cool but very different serrated teeth compared to benchmade or spyderco, or even microtech. How would you resharpen these different teeth and could you strop them? Do serrations get burrs like plain edged blades? Thx
The Civivi chef knife at end is one of the sharpest knives I have ever purchased…..it has a 3 mm thick blade and is super scary sharp. It’s excellent. Great for food prep, cutting cardboard, etc. An incredible knife at a great price. The steel is very good too. It’s the factory edge that will blow your mind!!! Highly recommended.

Completely agree. The Raccoon is an awesome and much less expensive Bugout alternative for sure. My personal all time favorite pocket friendly budget EDC is still the Civivi Baklash. I've been carrying the black blade/blackG10 handle with anodized blue liner variant for a couple years as my work EDC and at $42 it's such a great knife in every way. Loved it so much I picked up the black ebony wood/satin blade variant too.The only other knife in my collection that edges it out for big bang for little buck is my Sanrenmu 1006. How they made such a beefy high quality chunk knife for just $31 is beyond me.
The time and effort it must take to use good steel and materials to give excellent low cost knives... the premium knives i feel are just use whatever supersteel there is a slapping titanium on it...

regarding the mini grouper, it's not the first top liner lock (Compression lock) in this budget territory. In fact, you sort of have the first one I'm aware of on the table today. The full size Vosteed racoon comes has come in a top liner lock form for longer than the grouper as far as I know, although they seem to be largely sold out right now.

I also love Rosecraft Blades traditional pocket knives but have returned three of them to other knife sellers because they were so hard to open and I snapped my fingernails. I own about a dozen of them and own about 200 traditional pocket knives in total.
Thanks for the comment - I have the Rosecraft mentioned in this video and found it way to difficult to open - thought it was me. It's a shame because otherwise it's a nice looking knife. Their barlow's are much easier to handle.
Hi KnifeCenter and readers of the comments, I just had a random thought... which knives have exactly or very close to exactly the same handle and blade length but feel bigger or larger than the other?
Correct me if I'm wrong, DCA, but isn't the Kizer Mini-Grouper the second attempt to bring the "Compression" style top liner lock to the budget arena? Vosteed has the more expensive RSKOAS and Psyop lines with it at $250, but they also have the same style lock on the more budget-minded Raccoon model for $65. I know their production has been a bit off with most of those knives, but I also know that at least a few actually hit the market because I saw Seth advertise the top-liner lock version of the Raccoon on your May 2nd New Knives video and bought one from you on May 3rd. I'm sad to see the exact model I bought now says it's discontinued (green micarta, black-coated blade) but the satin-bladed version as well as several other colors of micarta handles are available even though they're delayed. At least a few inexpensive top-liner lock Raccoons went out, because I was luck enough to have gotten one. Vosteed's action on the Raccoon is as smooth as that on Kizer's mini-Grouper.
@@knifecenter I certainly hope Vosteed gets their act together. I want 5 or 6 more of those top liner lock Raccoons for my various to-go bags around my house and in my vehicles.
That said, some of KC’s prices are hundreds of dollars more than on their competitors like BHQ For example the Fox Radius with Damascus sells on KC’s website for well over $1000 but BHQ has it for several hundred dollars less. What’s up with that? To be fair though KC does beat BHQ on some products but usually only by a few dollars here and there, so do your research.
I still think Mora (Mora over really anything) really does the best... they are not made in China (not that I'm saying anything bad quality wise but let's be honest much of the time there are made with unfair practices... either poor wages or stealing designs outright). They are incredibly affordable and elevate up quite a bit. I think it would be wild if they slimmed a handle down slightly and made one of their knives into a pocket fixed blade. But overall... you do not find much in the way of higher American quality for under $100. I love my Case... but I do believe that Buck beats them on overall quality for the price.
The blade on that SRM would look really great - but why on earth do they put all those letters on it?!? Nobody cares, put the info on the box and keep the knife CLEAN, please!
All these Awesome Designs with Good Fit and Finishes and Decent Budget Steels , so can China now work on the Tolerances of their blades so they can get away from these Bearings and start using Washers again. Whenever I hear Bearings I think Cheap Chinese knives that are just thrown together , after about 12yrs of Bearings can they make a Drop Shutty knife with Washers ???
This is probably the most interesting and exciting knife market segment atm. The quality and 'bang for your buck' you can get these days is remarkable. I purchased the Sylph, along with a few other Real Steel knifes, to say I'm impressed with the value would be an understatement. But price aside, they're great knives, especially the folded/integral range imo. To dismiss a knife purely on where it's manufactured closes you off to some pretty amazing knives. Sure, you can justify your decision as a "patriotic" one, but to claim Chinese knives are inferior is cope, and it's just wrong.
makes me sad companies are still making liner and frame lock knives. the civivi hid looks great but its insane that they put a liner lock on that instead of the 10 other options available
Wish there was still pride in American made but such is consumerism world we live in. The over abundance of repetitive cheap foreign knives has really killed my interest in new knife videos.
We’re continuing to drown out American Made manufacturing with “cheap/budget [insert euphemism here]” chinese products. And most here are cheering it on. Sad.
If American companies don’t make quality… which isn’t guaranteed, than budget will at least let you try different things out while you look for a decent product…which many of these actually are. American exceptionalism is only worth touting when it is actually exceptional…which to be honest…we rarely are
I fail to understand this argument, there are good Chinese budget products I'm content with. Many i would be happy if i could only own one or two knives. I own several American made knives. I would argue that Chinese manufacturers are bringing competition and diversity to us consumers rather than drawing out American made manufacturing. As long as it's good quality, I'll buy it. Regardless of where it came from. but that's just me
never a good sign when KC is doing a budget video - sales are slumping - those $500 plus Chinesium flippers aren't selling - groceries and gas too much -> vote left, and the budget knives will be too much.
"Ope; snap back to reality." Prices have gotten out of control STRICTLY due to greed imo. Buy knives like these and avoid overpriced "magnacut"(sorry not sorry) overhyped items and the market will adjust. Enjoyed the episode!

To dismiss a knife purely on where it's manufactured closes you off to some pretty amazing knives. Sure, you can justify your decision as a "patriotic" one, but to claim Chinese knives are inferior is cope, and it's just wrong.
🔥💯👍🤟🏼
All Chinese made. No go for me.
Mini iridium. Look at profile. Looks like a parrot. Blades the wing. Lanyard loop is the foot. Dura lock black part is the eye. Haha. Imagination

“How are they getting these knives for so cheap??”
That’s what happens when you don’t have labor laws in your country lol
...and consumers still happily accept Chinese produced psf knockoffs of American trademarked PM steels as the legit version.
@@CNYKnifeNutcause they don’t know any better
Trouble is.....i have tasted premium, pm2, freeks...and now when i pick up a cheaper knife i dont like it at all.
makes me sad companies are still making liner and frame lock knives. the civivi hid looks great but its insane that they put a liner lock on that instead of the 10 other options available
What would make you happier?

Wish there was still pride in American made but such is consumerism world we live in. The over abundance of repetitive cheap foreign knives has really killed my interest in new knife videos.
I agree with you.
We’re continuing to drown out American Made manufacturing with “cheap/budget [insert euphemism here]” chinese products. And most here are cheering it on. Sad.
This is why I bought a kershaw
If American companies don’t make quality… which isn’t guaranteed, than budget will at least let you try different things out while you look for a decent product…which many of these actually are. American exceptionalism is only worth touting when it is actually exceptional…which to be honest…we rarely are
Why would I pay more for the same thing?
I fail to understand this argument, there are good Chinese budget products I'm content with. Many i would be happy if i could only own one or two knives. I own several American made knives. I would argue that Chinese manufacturers are bringing competition and diversity to us consumers rather than drawing out American made manufacturing. As long as it's good quality, I'll buy it. Regardless of where it came from.
but that's just me
Give me money so I can afford American made knives
never a good sign when KC is doing a budget video - sales are slumping - those $500 plus Chinesium flippers aren't selling - groceries and gas too much -> vote left, and the budget knives will be too much.
Impressive mental gymnastics

"Ope; snap back to reality." Prices have gotten out of control STRICTLY due to greed imo. Buy knives like these and avoid overpriced "magnacut"(sorry not sorry) overhyped items and the market will adjust. Enjoyed the episode!
