Anyone that is bringing negative comments to this series has never hunted up here. One of the most demanding landscapes on the planet. Great representation of hunting Sitka Blacktail in SE Alaska. Thanks to the 3 of you for what you do and hope to see more of you guys having fun in the SE. Happy Holidays
Marcus excellent job in capturing this hunt. As for the Jim and Jim show, I say they need their own. The knowledge that they could pass along, and they just click together on camera. Thanks for letting us view your wonderful hunt.
So many amazing meals to fuel some fellers up for tromping through the woods. Amazing country, great times. Nice filming Marcus (but, really... Goldfish???) Most enjoyable, watching Jimx2 hunting together.
Dag gummit, I was really hoping Jim H would get a buck. I guess that's good incentive to come back again. Sitka Blacktails are one of my favorite critters to hunt.
Sitka hunting… the only hunting a person can do and question what waterproof really means… there is waterproof gear, but is it Sitka deer hunting waterproof.. haha. Well sorted out video once again, your team put together a wonderfully entertaining hunt.
Typical. "Yup saw 100 bucks last week" Friend cross the country to come hunt and cant find a buck. Story of my life. Haha. Great video guys. Hope to see more from this cast.
Ain't that the way it is Josh. It used to be that October 24-30th was the chasing phase. For the last 10 years of so it moved to October 31-November 6th or so. This year it cranked up the day they left... go figure.
The funny thing is I say the same damn thing to mine. Even more so when I lived up there in the same area and hunted by boat. Would say it to the anchored boat as I headed to shore in the dingy.
Can't believe the "experts" commenting here...thought this series was one of the better ones.Hunting in that type of stuff with three people I'm surprised Marcus got film that many deer....also gave me an idea how to hunt whitetail in northern Idaho.
I agree! I never had the scope cover on while we called. Cover came off and round was chambered then both reversed before moving. You probably saw a clip of when we were getting ready to move to the next spot? That's when we usually talked.
@@jimheffelfinger4067 well I apologize then I guess I wasn't looking close enough . My bad.. I am super jealous though because that looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for the reply

No, I really wanted Jim Heffelfinger to be successful. Usually the first week of November is crazy with the chasing phase of the rut. It did not get cranking until the morning after they left. Before they landed in Seattle I had one on the ground.
Hey Marcus I have hunted out of a truck for 40 years and never needed a pack like that. Anything I might need fit on my belt or in my pockets. What's the purpose ?
Anita, I'm not Marcus but I'd like to answer...basically, we hike in miles. On the last day we put in close to 6 miles alone. 6 miles here is not like 6 miles in the west. If we shoot a deer on the far side of the ridge we bone it out and bring it back with us. Way easier to bone one out and pack it instead of dragging it or carrying it out whole. Using the gutless method it takes about 30 minutes to get all the edible meat off a deer. Everything else feeds the ravens, eagles, marten, wolves, bear, etc...
When you have a directional mic on the camera it amplifies the noise far beyond what it really is. We use those to pick up the slightest whispers, which can make normal volumes sound like a herd of elephants
Thanks and I didn’t mean my comment to be a criticism. I really enjoyed this video and I hunt black tails in prince william sound. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to be successful hunting when filming.
@@garywoodlief1976 You actually fowl the barrel and it draws moisture when you dry fire a caps, it does exactly the opposite of what you want. If your are shooting 209, it doesn't make as much difference b/c you have so much more ignition charge. I have hunted for 2 weeks in the rain with #11 precision caps and here is what I do. Dry patch down the barrel, to remove any moisture and oil from the last time it was cleaned, do this until the patch comes out clean, should be once or twice, if it is more than that you should really clean it again before loading. Then load it as normal. Then get some wide scotch tape and tape the end of the barrel, trim it off so it is harder to snag it in the woods. For the #11 caps two options, fold up some plastic flagging and store the hammer all the way down, makes it waterproof and is removed quickly. If you hunt with a cap on, use fingernail polish to seal the cap to the nipple, this is also waterproof, just take a knife or something and gently remove it when you are done. Always clean it after a shot if possible or at the end of the day after if it has been shot. I have seen many muzzleloader that will not fire, b/c they snapped a few caps before loading, this is worse in high humidity conditions.
@@burtcmcalpine I appreciate you comments and concern for my ignition. These were some of the most fun videos I think the crew has produced. The scenery, foliage and deer are just awesome to watch.
My favorite group of people on the planet are Alaskans with PhDs. Always passionate, knowledgeable, and most importantly very entertaining!

Do really enjoy watching Randy, but these two are amazing. That Hawken is a character unto itself. Beautiful weapon.
Fun series! Can't beat the beauty of POW Island! Marcus once again nailed it with the cinematography, absolutely fantastic job.

Great video series - love the country! Would love some recipes using gooseberries, can never find any and our mountains are full of them....

Those Sitka blacktails are way smaller then the Columbia blacktails
Based on this hunt, Randy, would you wear your great leather Kenetrek boots or would you go all rubber boots due to the very wet conditions? Thanks
I hunted SE AK growing up. Always wore rubber boots (extra tuffs) everything is too wet to wear anything else!
I Have been using Arctic Pro Muck boots...I use Kenetrek boots for alpine hunts if it has been a relatively dry summer...

Prince of Wales
