Activity monitoring system up and running!

We recently installed a system to monitor activity and heat detection on our heifers!
It picks up data from an ear tag in the heifers and relays it to our barn office computer.
The goal is to get better conception rates on our heifer breeding and to get them bred more timely.

For heifers it will work but for tie stalls they dont work Freestall barns work great Dont even think about putting in a tie stall. It dont work very well. I have a system similar for about a year its been a headache not a good upgrade im ready to get rid of it

After a heifer is confirmed pregnant can you move the tags to another open animal? I have seen some that use a neck collar and I saw one that inserted something into the animal stomach which would seem expensive as you can never reuse it and would have to buy one for every animal

Yeah we can move them and reassign to another animal. The bolus ones at you give the cow are nice with the amount of info you get but yeah once she's gone you can't get it back. I think they cost about $40 each

I suppose the bolus type,if you insert in a breeding age heifer and she is in the herd for 6 or 7 years ,that would only be 6 or 7 dollars a year for the info
