Lancaster Farmer
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 28 ม.ค. 2019
We are a family operated dairy farm located in Lancaster county Pennsylvania milking 75 cows and farming 150 acres. The purpose of my channel is to provide insight into day to day farm operations and to educate about dairy farming. We strive to produce high quality milk and to treat our cows with upmost respect
Milk sampling and testing
In this video we are doing our once a month milk test where collect a sample from every cow as well a weight amount for how much each cow is milking. The samples are tested for a variety of different things including the fat and protein content of the milk. We use this information to make better cow management decisions as well as we are able to look at overall herd and individual cow production performance

Direct cut barley

Chopping barley to feed our heifers. This is the first time we have grown barley for feed. We wait until the barley starts to dry down and then run the chopper through it with a mower head on it #dairycows #farming #johndeere
Aluminum liquid manure spreader 5825 gallons

Trying out our neighbors new liquid manure spreader with a fully aluminum tank. We were happy with the coverage we got and it seems to be lighter than a steel one #farming #johndeere #cows #dairy

Chopping 1st cutting alfalfa
มุมมอง 3.1K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
We caught a window of nice weather and made some really good haylage for the cows. With the rain we have been getting there was an abundant crop and 2nd cutting should yield pretty good as well in a month from now We put this feed in a 20 x 70 Harvestore silo for storage #farming #johndeere #dairy
Tedding hay for faster/more even drying
มุมมอง 8743 หลายเดือนก่อน
Ripping apart some Alfalfa/wheat mix. The more spread out we can get the hay the quicker it will dry as well as dry more evenly. The plan is to chop it for the cows #johndeere #farming #dairy
Mixing feed for our dairy cows

This is how we make the total mixed ration (TMR) that we feed to our cows We're milking about 80 currently and we make 3 batches of feed a day for them #farming #dairy #dairycows

This piece of equipment helps to break up some field compaction as well as level off any rough spots. It also helps to work in any manure that we spread on top. The last step we do before we are ready to plant! #farming #johndeere

Beautiful dairy farm
That Fieldline blower is a beast! Is this fed to heifers or milk cows?
A operation to be proud. Great job
Wow! So wonderful, love your work life, want to come once to experience it ❤❤
Very nice.
Absolutely Beautiful herd! 😍 (obsessed with the cats waiting for spare milk 😂)
Thanks you!
Nice looking cows. Love the clean barn.
Nice looking cows milk them only half out the milking before? Just kidding they look awesome 😂👍👍👍
Always had good feed from my Harvestors. Back rounded beef heifers 400 to 800.
Testing here today also🤘. Beautiful barn and cows folks
Thank you!
Clean cows. Make me miss my cows
great looking cows
A rented 6215R?:)
Yep. Hired out
grea video! Is your 6R EU spec?It does not look like an american one...(because the turning lights are missing in the working lights on the cab) . is it imported from the UK?
Yes it is! Manufactured over in the UK and was imported back to America
great looking cows
Thank you!
Miss the sound
I think that the first Deere I've seen running a krone ez-collect corn head.from experience those heads seem to have difficulty harvesting corn with moisture on the leaves like in early morning with heavy dew or in misty rain conditions. Great video as usual .
great video and cool machinery!Did you replace the 7630 with the 6250R?
We replaced it with a 6210R The 6250 is hired in
@@zimhavendairyfarm1953 ahh ok, thank you!
interesting comine...is that a T550 combine? how did you get it?
Yes it is. Was bought used from the local John Deere dealer
@@zimhavendairyfarm1953 thanks for all these answers.:) Interesting to see a T500 combine, you dont see them often in the US.. :)
Looks like a beef cow/not a Holstein to me!!!
Is the merger tough on the alfalfa leaves?
Well, it is better than most rakes. And doesn't pick up as many rocks either
Pretty impressive machine!
Merging is faster than raking. How many horsepower tractor does it take to run a merger ?
This one is putting out over 200.
I’ve only been to Lancaster once. Seemed like everyone was arrogant
Yes that's true, people call it NJ attitude moving east . The Amish have turned into the worst people on earth
With the direct cut this year we chose to drive beside when opening up... Can't decide which one's better... You drive some flat but then you don't spill since it don't blow as nice as corn silage.
That direct cut head sure looks pretty handy!
Man the tires on that single axle trailer were screaming. lol, just another day on the farm
Awesome!! I just saw a crew outside Ephrata today getting ready to direct cut barley with a Claas 860 chopper. 👍🏻🤙🏻🇺🇸😔
Awesome video it would be nice if that 4640 had a straight pipe on it with the blower
We have one for it. Maybe I'll switch it out and put up a video with it on sometime
I love your guys videos keep up the good work. Love From Above NW PA
Nice John Deeres. Finishing up at sundown. Long day!
I noticed left tire nearly flat and both tires had issues rolling at some point. The job got done is all that matters.
La maquina perfecta para hacer bolos de heno, el apilador de fardos no sabe lo que hace.... Es la forma más rápida de tirarlos al suelo..😅😂😂😂😂😅😂
Nice setup
Man this looks good
Great video
Awesome looking manure spreader
Might want to secure your load before driving on public roads.
Are those homemade forage wagons? I’ve never seen one of those before, nice video.
Great video! I spent many hours riding on tractor while raking hay, then helping unload hay wagons. Nothing better smelling than freshly baled hay. Keep up the great work and cherish the memories, life goes by so fast! . Going back to see dairy farm I spent many summers at is on my bucket list.
You got that right! Thanks!
You must have the same Akaso camera that I do, because i assume the date isn't right in the corner, On my TH-cam channel sometimes I blur that out.
Yeah I do have one. I've only used it to make that 1 video so far. I wasn't super impressed with it. I've just used a cell phone to make all my other ones
Do you own the 4320 or was it hired out
It's hired out
Do you guys have a larger rake?
We make only a few acres of dry hay a year. We have a wheel rake that we use for corn fodder and we get our alfalfa and rye merged by a custom operator.
@@zimhavendairyfarm1953 I guess that makes sense, great video btw!
First time seeing forage cart like that.
Just wondering. Do get the Lancaster Farms news paper every week?
Yes we do
@zimhavendairyfarm1953 we also
i just subbed love the videos
Nice high neck rail on farm #4
Looks like a nice and thick crop!! Hope it yields well for you guys!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice and clean feed room!!! Must be nice not having to worry about the bad weather!!!
It sure is! Thank you!
