I have had the exact same pain where my uppermost vertebrae meets the base of my skull on the right side since a skiing accident when I was 12, in which I sustained a spinal injury and TBI. I really feel like it is killing me. I have been to so many different doctors and specialists over the years without success. It’s probably trigeminal neuralgia but in the past two years I have had 7 of these very sudden onset headaches that stem from behind my right eye. They cause vision loss and extreme pain but are fairly short in duration. I have pretty intense fears of hospitals and doctors, and it’s so overwhelming. Please do a medical check-up for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) as your symptoms may be originating from a form of Hiatal Hernia and/or an H. pylori infection ( I had to do an endoscopy with biopsy to confirm this as it did not show in my blood or stool even though it was in my stomach). You would be surprised how problems with your gastrointestinal tract affect your overall well-being. Symptoms may include unexplained weight loss and difficulty gaining weight, iron deficiency, anemia, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, shortness of breath, sudden severe cold, palpitations (high pulse), high blood pressure or even slightly low blood pressure.
I fainted in March 2024,hit the back middle of my head against the frame of my bathroom door and fell on the floor. I mostly sleep on my back every night on that same spot. Lately, if I bend over, cough, throw up, sneeze, etc I get a full on headache that is the most intense stabbing and throbbing pressure I've ever felt. It is so painful, no medication I take helps me. I go to the ER and they act like they don't have pain medication there or something so they give me all these nausea medications, benadryl, and meanwhile I'm at pain level 15 out of 10 like my brain will explode. This might be what is going on. Because this has been hurting for months, but finally now is beyond what I can tolerate.

Adhesion in the neck or suboccipital muscles alone is unlikely to directly cause an eye to be pulled out of alignment. However, there can be indirect effects on eye alignment due to the intricate connections between muscles, nerves, and other structures in the head and neck region. It's essential to consult with a healthcare professional if you have concerns about eye alignment or if you're experiencing symptoms related to neck or suboccipital muscle issues

Can bad sleep posture also lead to occipital neuralgia? Like for the past two years , i just lay down on my bed without a pillow and sleep. I am used to sleeping with a pillow behind. And it was fine till the last month. This month i have started experiencing pain on back of my head but it goes when i sleep with a pillow behind my head. I guess it in the first stage , and i don't take care it will become worse.
Yup, bad sleep posture can contribute to occipital neuralgia. Occipital neuralgia is a condition characterized by chronic pain in the upper neck, back of the head, and behind the eyes, typically due to irritation or injury to the occipital nerves. Poor sleep posture can lead to muscle strain and tension in the neck and upper back, which in turn can irritate the occipital nerves. Hi, My husband is having pain at the occipital region since 3 months. He feels like heaviness. So when we checked his BP was 170/90,and on palpating I felt like there is swelling at the back side and feels like a lump but he doesnt have any pain on that. Doctor started BP tablet for him. But still there is no change. Could you please suggest any solution for that.
Hey friend so sorry for what your husband is going on! An evaluation would be needed to see what’s best solution for his case, has he seen any other doctor or therapist for it?
I've had pain/ tightness in this region for over two years, but only when upright (it goes away when lying down). I also had an unprovoked pulmonary embolism just over a year ago, so not much luck with health!
So sorry to hear this my friend!
How are you , mine seem worse when I’m up as well
Can occipital adhesios affect entire dura down to lumbar and also cause nerve shocks up and down the body? Everything is "glued" and kind of atrophied since upper neck injury. The"glue" pulls extremely

Here is a video where we explain proper way to sleep th-cam.com/video/K5OckvtAtik/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3vBnC3WVy0MX9KHy
Can this go away on its own? Will it last forever?
if it's adhesion binding the nerve, it won't go away on it's own. Yes, it'll last until the adhesions are removed.
How are they removed?
