Had her down to the last sliver of HP and then I missed a dodge roll stab and died next second.
Took me two more hours before I killed Rellana.
thats why you need use summon even if you dead they still can hit enemy... its better than wasting time,, that's a feature in the game not a cheat, why people don't want to use it

Lol her build is str build and her playstyle the whole game b4 the DLC using great sword that why she struggled with this battle using other weapon . Like she noticed if she was using great sword from beginning she would make a short work on that boss.

Giant's Hunt is just busted, same as Lion's Claw, they always have been. Great hyper-armor multiplier and crazy poise damage. But really, getting a functional build going is half the game. The game is only as hard as you want it to be.

Huge majority of plyers either sticks to their early game weapon for the whole playthrough or preplan it. Obviously you can do whatever in Ng+ but only small number of players is gonna play Ng+ after beating the game. 90% of weapons in this game is useless

This boss made me switch from a really aggressive dual-katana build that steamrolled Radagon to a more dirty-fighting build with the pulley crossbow and status effect bolts.
I legit really liked fighting Rellana. Dancing Lion I was still kinda remembering how to play the game and just face-tanked most of it, but Rellana was really fun to learn. But I have been a Sword & board player for the past 13 years

you can cheese Rellana easily with any long weapon with piercing fang/impaling thrust ash of war...it will stance break after 3 or 4 hits of the skill and you can spam it easily...I used great katana with piercing fang...Rellana died without even using the moon attack on my run...

the b ackhand blades have been some of the most fun i've had with a weapon in elden ring in a long time. i really like it with bleed or frost. also can't wait to see her fight Gaius. easily the worst fight in elden ring bar none

For anyone struggling with Rellana: Back Blade +25 on a dex/quality build, Rotted Winged Sword Insignia, Mimic Tear.
You can break her posture and melt her HP very quickly by quadruple-ganking her with the Mimic.
That dash to the side attack she does is easy to parry for anyone having a hard time ;)
Lmao, chuunibyou is a great way to describe Rellana's phase two moves. She's even more chuuni than Sulyvahn.
Honestly, I don't enjoy these boss fights where they just do loooong-ass combos and leave one second of opening between. I can respect people who git gud, like Pekora, but I just git summons.
the game is designed and balanced around you using spirit summons. dont let the gremlin fanboys convince you otherwise.

I guess it was a mistake to start the dlc on ng+, Rellana looks a lot more forgiving in this video.
Tbh, it might also be dependent on the Scadutree level and maybe even the armor. At least for opponents I noticed that certain weapon types are worse than others even if they do physical damage all the same. So maybe the right armor can also be very important.
damage types like piercing, slashing or bludgeoning could impact things a bit too
9:20 that was total BS, if she had jumped she would still be hit by the flying swords. There was nothing she could do there to not get hit!

its great but hard to use in this fight reliably, you usually get smacked if you use it on most openings because the end lag is too long to recover before the next combo starts. basically you need some really perfect timing and maybe fast roll to pull it off consistently from my testing, but it does obliterate the boss as fast as the boss obliterates you
giant hunt is my go-to for humanoid bosses and when im strugging too much on my regular weapons
If a magic user is disgusting because of range then str user is disgusting because of damage, now i don't think str user has any rights to bully other build
she can beat under 1 hour on this shit boss holy,, maybe i should give it a try using GS too
it's not just greatsword, all the big strength weapons are great, best one I found is god slayer greatsword
To be fair, rellana is probably the hardest boss in the dlc. She has long combo, range attack, hit like a truck, thick hp bar. It's hard to find the opening from her. Glad pekora realize that greatsword is goated weapon the game. And I beat rellana with the weapon like her.
She is the hardest except for EVERY boss afterwards
I had more issues with the flailing lion & his stoned camera cameraman than Rellana. And now I'm having those issues a second time.

not to brag but i parried and won , i shoulda just used summons and shi considering they hint at us with the revered ash stuff, its like they are asking us to use summons lol
She couldn't beat her fairly so she had to use an overpowered AoW. Literally no skill needed, same as RoB users.

@@jin12345678 She quite literally spammed it like 5+ times in a row, the boss couldn't even move or get out of the way. If you wanna play like that go ahead but other people have the right to criticize it. I'm just saying if she didn't have that AoW it would've taken her more hours to beat since you're more prone to make mistakes even if you memorize the pattern.
I think it took me 2 tries to beat her. She wasn't that tough. OTOH Messmer the Impaler killed me at least a dozen times.
