I live locally, and I've been to most of the stations in your video. I've got to admit that I was pretty sceptical when I first heard that they were bringing trams back to Manchester, but it turns out I was wrong. It's a great way of getting around, except at rush hour, when it turns into a sardine tin on wheels. The station at Central Park is a nice design, isn't it? It cost a couple of million to build, going off memory - then it stood unused for several years, because there was a delay in getting the money to open that particular part of the network. One major thing that still needs doing is there isn't a line to Stockport town centre yet. I think it'll be a big help to the local economy when that happens.
Hi fionajade,a nice wee video,i visit manchester from edinburgh as much as i can and have been to most of these places you were at,making me wanting to go there for a visit as love the city, all the best to you from edinburgh scotland❤😄🏴
Interesting video. I've risen these trams a grand total of 1 times! It was a short trip from somewhere in the centre of Manchester to Piccadilly. It was far too short! I need to go back.
My good lady and I are regular users of the tram from Didsbury for work - one of those things that when it's working right, it's fine, but when things go wrong, they go REALLY wrong. Re Central Park - I used to work in Oldham 2005-2007, and can remember the station roof being there a good 10/15 years before they converted the Oldham Loop line! Incidentally, Manchester Central was where the trains from Didsbury would arrive in the city, back before closure in the 1960s.
Yes, Manchester Central was the terminus of the Midland main line, it was not only trains from Didsbury which terminated there, but trains from St Pancras, including the famous Midland Pulman!
Slight correction, the single platform at Newton Heath and Moston isn't because of the rail depot, passenger trains don't use that branch. Its because there are frequent freight trains to the Reliant Street Household Waste Recycling Centre, the so called 'Binliners' service.
oooo cool! I am slightly jealous as they didn't finish phase 3 of the Metrolink until just after I finished uni in Manchester. I should go back and ride the rails sometime 😀
Hi. Having watched this now twice. I have a question when you were at navigation road. Was the signal box. Called. Deasgate junction still there. As I have a copy of the diagram for this which shows the metro link
Wheeey I didn't know my home station is the least used one and yeah I can only i imagine the graffiti if they labelled chorlton with its whole innuendo name 😄 you should go and film at cornbrook on a united match day and vlog the chaos, you were close for the pronunciation 😝 i can't type its actual pronunciation so you'll have to get it from another human and now i want your cheese toasty

Thanks, Fiona - it's a rotten job, but somebody's got to do it . . . the toasty cheese sarny looked delicious! A bit of a strange landscape, at least to this Southern Nancy!

yeah, you can very clearly tell how it all used to connect
Yes it was an advance work built before the full approval of the line similar to the finback bridge.

Devestated for you that there wasn't a full sign in Chorlton
Now do it on train sim world! (that's probably not a thing is it)
i wish it was!
Is Manchester the centre of the universe for TH-camrs not based in London?
i live here so 😂
Manchester and Blackpool yes. Probably because Manchester has such a young population due to the concentration of large universities.
great hair. please grow it longer!
trams are weird.
thanks! but i probably will keep it about this length
Trans and trains...... WHAT IS the connection?,,,,,,,,,,,
idk but it's strong 😂
It might simply be a case of putting the "i" (or "I" perhaps?) in. Make the significance of that, if there is any, what you will.
