Beenetwork busses in my Manchester area is kinda late

I'm live streaming today in Piccadilly

I live in Germany, and it also took my awhile to get the hang of this system. It's not too bad once you know the margins you're operating in, but it's confusing sometimes. If you need any help with that system, well I'll try to explain it ^^

At least the PZB doesn't literally shout at you in this train. I've seen driver's eye views in and around Berlin in which the train actually talks at the driver, saying "Sifa" and "Zugbeeinflussung" over and over! I'd tear my hair out!

I tried conductor mode once and the train left without me with the local door still open, gave up on it after that.

2:44 Throw en' of the train! (Reminds me of the scene in Mr Bean gose on holiday where they try to hide from the guard and get shoved off the train at the next stop)

6:05 That control panel to the left of the train doors is just a PA handset with cab to cab functionality and a way of triggering automatic announcements on the train, no door controls in there at all :)

Hi Fiona, I can imagine the frustrations of playing this, when you know all about the real life job yourself... I would probably be constantly rage quitting it!

One of the things that annoys me the most about guard mode. Is that sometimes there is not enough time to check all the tickets between stops. Then the game deducts points from you for not checking all the tickets.

DTG really need to improve their clearly poor or non-existent research, and their quality control! Those hitboxes are just dreadful.

On my line, ticket checking tends to be done by terrifying looking threesomes sometimes escorted by police officers! Must be a Redditch speciality 😂 ! Video is an interesting if flawed view of the conductor's role, though.

Cornbrook opened as part of Eccles line as an interchange only station (no street access). It was only years later they opened up the stairway to street level. I used to work near Exchange Quay and one the day the Eccles line opened (also the Eccles line only opened as far as Broadway when it first opened and the Mediacity spur was barely even thought of) instead of taking the bus to work i took the bus to Sale and took the tram from Sale to Exchange Quay changing at Cornbrook.

As a warrington resident here is the deal with the X5 it will be continuing as the 5A but only running from Warrington to The Cross in Lymm the new 279 will do the section between the cross and Alty but only doing i think 5 journeys a day or something silly like that not providing interchange with the 5A and the 288 will run hourly between Alty and the airport, as someone who has to get between Warrington and Altrincham all the time it is a right pain we honestly need the X5 back to Altrincham as a minimum!

You mentioned Diesel buses being bad, which I agree, but are there any Diesel Hybrid Electric busses? Surely that would be a good compromise if they don't have charging stations.

This is a good route, I like all of the roadworks to make it more realistic. And the head tracking looks really good too! 👍

Stagecoach have Oldham,Middleton , queens road,Little hulton, and Stockport

To be fair to metroline / stagecoach the only electrified depot in the southern region is sharston (i think, correct me if im wrong), and it takes quite a while for electric bays to be set up at other depots but they are planning to get them built as soon as possible. althought its frustrating theyve had to order diesel buses for no otherwise there simply wouldnt be anywhere near enough buses to run routes

First Beeline buses were V1 & V2 to Andy Burnham's old Leigh constituency. Erratic running despite a bus way and dire driver behaviour including repeatedly passing me when clearly signalling at a stop on the way to MRI. That said it is better than First and Arriva. OTOH extremely unlikely it will be wotk as well as Stagecoach. Beeline app' needs debugging!

It won’t work if there are too many private cars on the roads of Manchester clogging up the roads, including EV’s and taxis and these need to be got off the roads, as otherwise improving public transport is totally pointless - people need strong leadership and draconian laws, rigidly enforced by the police and the military, in conjunction with other state bodies and insurance companies to ban all private car ownership and use, as well as all driver licensing, insurance, vehicle MOT’s, road tax, driver testing within 50 miles of any major city where existing public transport options are deemed by the state to be sufficient - far too many people are far too dependent on and addicted to the private car as a means of travel and this needs to be firmly shut down and firmly broken by being robustly challenged - when Fidel Castro of Cuba wanted his people to have CFL Bulbs, he simply deployed the Cuban military to forcibly enter properties and forcibly installed these bulbs and we need to do similar

I thonk the Manchester version of Tendering entire Depots seems better then the London System of putting individual routes out for tender. From a bus workers perspective.

he 18 and 19 , are brilliant local busservice for whythenshawe , it wont get you there quick but it srves the communities in whythenshawe well ,its our estate bus , folk meet each other daily on it , a good service ,i hopeitsreplacement the249 follows its route

While back in Manchester over Christmas and New Year, I was staying in Prestwich, North Manchester. Some of the yellow buses operating from Boyle Street, Queens Road, Cheetham Hill were nearly 15 or 16 years old. I believe they were former Go-Ahead London buses. Maybe they were just stop-gap buses while the newer buses arrive.

Brilliant vlog i think the Bee Network is a brilliant idea & ive sampled the Bee Network in the North Manchester area last September & had no issues & all buses i took were on time & even tho i saw 2 buses running together in some areas but you get that everywhere else around the UK but im looking forward to sampling the Tranche 3 area later on this year when i do the North again in September

Nice video! A big change like this was always likely to have issues on day one but give it time and hopefully it will come good. I've been very much on the fence about whether regulated or deregulated bus services are better but I'm leaning more towards thinking that publicly owned buses are what we need. Bringing buses into public control won't solve every problem and might actually create a few problems, but it's increasingly apparent that running buses solely as a profit-seeking enterprise as bad for passengers, urban planning and the environment. Also, the bit around 6:10 neatly demonstrates how frustrating it is having parked cars reducing the road to (effectively) a single lane with passing places.

I guess the problem with electric buses is that the depot needs to have chargers for hundreds of buses, which means an upgraded electricity supply to the depot which means getting a privately owned National Grid plc and a privately owned North West Electricity Networks plc to do something. And there is currently a 10-15 year waiting list for that.

Great video! Hopefully the teething issues will get worked out. The new buses in Norwich have a similar announcement problem but it has got better as time has gone. Now its a 50% chance of announcements on a Streetdeck working rather than a 1% chance!

Whatever teething troubles you've experienced, at least you've got the immense good fortune of not having Diamond Buses involved in your public transport, unlike me 🤮 ! Dunno about announcements - with Diamond you're lucky to get four wheels! Hey ho. Great video by the way - love the way you bounce reactions off each other.

Hopefully the teething issues are just that; teething issues. If tranches 1 and 2 are anything to go by then there should be an uplift in quality and reliability so let's hope they're able to pull of the same success with tranche 3! It's frustrating to see that new diesel buses have been ordered, though worth remembering that a single diesel bus is still much better for the environment than 50 or so cars, even if those cars are electric! I agree that any new buses (or new vehicles more generally) should be electric, but it's still better than the alternative. Anyway great video, I found it very enjoyable!
