  • A BIG thank you to Mr. Olinad for sending the Hifiman Ananda over for review, greatly appreciated. Near neutral and natural sounding, the perfect frequency graph for my sound signature preference. Do the Hifiman Ananda unseat the Sennheiser HD600 as my favorite headphone?

@@TheHonestAudiophile How would you compare the ananda sound signature to the moondrop blessing 2’s? I love the B2’s sound signature and I’m hoping the ananda is like the B2’s sound signature but just a bit more airy and maybe little less bassy

Very hard to compare headphones to IEM but the sound signature is somewhat similar just bigger with the Ananda. The bass is not as elevatedand the treble is a tad more extended.

I recently replaced my Sennheiser HD580 (from the 90s :) ) for the Hifiman Ananda. I listen a lot to orchestral music. In my amateur opinion: The Ananda makes less immediate impression, but the placement and size of the instrumental forces is much more realistic, and very naturally sounding. The orchestra is in front of me, with the Sennheiser I am between the musicians in a warm gorgeous sound. But in the end I prefer the natural sound of the Ananda, it's like listening to a great pair of speakers in front of you, the Sennheiser more a 'headphone'' experience on its own. All the best, you gave a great review. Greeting from the Netherlands.

I love the vibe of this review. So relaxing and informative. I bought the Ananda used from a trusted seller on Reddit, currently on the way. The seller installed new pads a week ago after the old ones wore out, which tells me that there are no QC/imbalance issues if he used them for that long. I have a smaller than average head, so I'm really hoping that they'll fit and seal well enough.

@@TheHonestAudiophile My Ananda arrived two days ago. I’ve been running it off of my LG G8’s quad DAC/amp since the Schiit Hel 2 I ordered won’t be shipped for a month.
These are the best headphones I’ve ever heard. They are real picky about how I position them on my head, and need extra headband padding because they’re the size of my entire head. But when they’re positioned just right, it sounds like a concert hall materialized in front of me. Detail retrieval is on par with my Blessing 2, if not more. Planar bass is amazing - rich, incredibly deep, yet laid back and controlled. The timbre of the mids is very different from dynamic drivers - it sounds more like a balanced armature IEM. Some people hate this kind of timbre but I love it - very spacious, like a gentle breeze. Imaging and soundstage is quite unconventional yet still excellent - most of the separation comes from depth and distinction within the ‘wall of sound’, instead of tight pinpricks of focus. This allows them to decipher stuff like Pet Sounds in mono, noise shoegaze, ethereal wave, and dense orchestral music - all of which might get clogged up in a conventional headphone.
They’re not the best for rock, punk, electronic, pop, or folk - but that doesn’t mean they sound bad for these genres. The Focal Elex is more suited to such genres that require ‘pinprick’ imaging, high energy/dynamics, conventional soundstage presentation, and analytical listening. These two headphones perfectly complement each other by having opposing traits. I’m really glad I bought both, because either one won’t be able to cover all the music I listen to on its own.

AQ NH are very good for EDM and Hip hop in my opinio so for sure I will keep them but when we speak about vocal and some jazz and instruments HD660s should be better. Thanks for yet another wonderful review!
Been agonizing over what ~$1,000 headphones to buy and the Anandas seem to be them...however I’m having a hard time getting over how cheap the grill and plastic components look...your review of the LCD2-C along with some demos I heard drove me away from them and they were the only other contenders, so I’m now stuck!!!

Ananda has better sound staging of course but I missed that more laid back nature of the Edition XX. If I was to dream upon a dream, I'd like treble of the XX to split the difference with Ananda. XX could use a little more sparkle up top, but Ananda is too much for me personally. You gotta try the 1MORE Headphones when we get together.

They sounded fine but i always thought i would like to compare them again to the anandas so i bought them headphones and this is the only way i could do a direct comparison. I have found that the anandas sound much more clear. i thought it was my amp not providing enough juice for the Aryas so then i tried them on my naim £3500 supernait 3 amplifier with very high quality headphone output. You know what i still could not get the detail from the aryas. The sound was more recessed which i thought would have been the opposite way, perhaps they have better bass response but overall i much prefer the Anandas. Hi there. So I touched the inside of my Ananda's earcups by way of a light, brushing motion with my fingers against the grills just to know what they feel like (honestly dont know why i did that). My question is, does doing this possibly damage the drivers/diaphragm in anyway? If yes, is the probability high?

@@TheHonestAudiophile I see, thanks. Won't be doing that again, that's for sure.
Just to be clear, though. I didn't open the headphones up and touch the insides directly. What I touched was only the outer foam covering that separates the driver from the outside but I definitely felt the inside of the cups. Not sure what I felt exactly but they were like metal grills. Not sure if those were the drivers. Hope I'm just being paranoid and nothing was really damaged/altered in any way. Should I be worried, or have them checked? Didn't really see any sonic differences after tocuhing them but I did hear some distortions on high volumes on some very small parts (maybe lasting around half a second) of some songs that I listen to.

I just bought my Ananda after having them tested at a local hifi shop. The pair of Ananda's I'had tested there sounded amazing (considering they were driven off of a 2000$ amp). At home I'm driving them off of a Sound Blaster G6 at the moment. Been using them for like 4 days and my issue is that vocals sound so thin and without EQ the tonality kind of feels off. Everything sounds so thin and laid back and there are also sibilants. It's of course very track dependend. I've tested it on both Amazon music and Tidal with the highest quality available but these cans definitely don't sound like the ones I had heard at the local hifi shop. @@TheHonestAudiophile by the way, what amp/dac would you recommend for the Anada? im using IFI Zen V2 Can and Zen dac, amazing detail, but was thinking if there's anything for Anada that would be more better at price point around $400-500

@a2raya772 Burson Playmate 2 is a solid option.

This is one of the reviews I resonate with the most. I would've also paid a thousand dollars and still felt like every penny was worth it. I just uploaded the review of my own pair, and after having them for a year and compared them to other pricey tools, well, they remain my ✨ A B S O L U T E F A V O R I T E ✨. To you and your subscribers, I would greatly appreciate if you could stop by and give it a watch. I would also appreciate your opinion and feedback 💖. I'm starting my channel and every bit of commentary (good or bad) is well received.

Bought a pair, loved the sound, but they only lasted 15 months...and they come with a 12 month warranty. They didn’t offer any good options. Probably just bad luck but I wouldn’t buy a Hifiman product again.

Sorry to hear your Ananda broke after 15 months, that is a bummer.

My opinion is that the bass can be a bit overdone and unbalanced, taking away from vocals, despite being otherwise great headphones
