I suggest raising the height of your snuggler stand. I have a folding two foot table from Amazon that would work. The snugglers are adorable and your display makes them really appealing, especially to littles. Also, if you sit or stand nearby with wet wipes you can also just sweetly say “here honey wipe your hands real quick, before you touch if mom says it’s ok”. You could donate the plushie to a woman’s shelter or the police station for a child that had to be taken from their home or was lost. Finally, for the pop ups try a sign with two photos showing how to pop up the toy (Folks don’t read much). Love your work and videos!
The little elephant going to a happy home nearly had me in tears. (It has been a lot of Big Emotions today, but that was a much needed balm. Thank you.)
I think you should put any crochet items that have a lot of white on them in a clear bag. If a person wants to buy it they can see it and if they ask you why nicely mention that you want to keep it clean. Congrat on your craft show and your items are really adorable.
So sorry about your snuggler! I have a sign that says please feel free to touch with clean hands and have baby wipes set up next to the sign. I had kiddos this summer come up with sticky popsicle fingers and have had baby wipes set up since then!
I don’t have a store but would do this! I’ve seen signs in a similar nature and I think it’s a good reminder even for adults who might forget they just had a red slushie or something lol.
I totally feel your pain. I sell bath bombs which kids think they can pick up over and over and just throw them down when they are done. I spend about 20 minutes painting each one (not including the time to make them and wrap/label them). They don't realize these things aren't plastic, they are made of baking soda and other powders and they chip easily. Thinking of putting up a sign to be gentle with them and only allow children to touch them if a parent is present. I did see one crocheter who put out hand sanitizer and has a sign to use before handling any items. Don't know if that's something you want to consider. Either way, I know how it just makes you cringe when something gets damaged :(
Thank you so much for your reply! I'm so sorry to hear that about your bath bombs. They're so delicate too. I think I'll try the baby wipes/hand sanitizer with a sign for future markets.
Also here to talk about the dirty snuggler! I had the same thing happen with an opossum snuggler... cheesy hands touched the face of it and it was ruined for that event! I used a tide pen on it, and it actually came out!! I had to bring it home and use the pen, and then after used a soft damp cloth to wipe it, but I did get the cheese stains out!
Beautiful job!!! That's always a tricky situation. I know Katie being creative has some signs in her Etsy shop. May give you ideas there. I kept sanitizer out but not sure how much that would help with the cheesy fingers.
Your stuff is so adorable❤ I have a question about how you hang your snugglers... I see you have them hanging by a ring? How do you attatch/detatch and what do you use? I'm also trying to figure out how to hang some of my jellyfish but I'm concerned about what to use so not to damage the stitches. Especially on more delicate yarn🫤 Thank you for sharing with us!!

I'm so sorry about the dirty snuggles! and congrats on a successful show!! I LOVE your set up BTW! Is your smuggler stand custom? Love it! anyhoo, for the first time, I am planning on making a sign that says "Please don't touch if your hands are dirty". I'm going to a festival in our town where I know for a fact that kids run-a-muck while eating cotton candy, caramel apples, chips lol They are running around mostly with no adults with them (a very small town). I probably know 90% of these kids. I know their MO lol so I am gonna aput up that sign even though it goes against my grain.
Thank you!! Yes, I bought the peg board from Texwoodbuilds on etsy. It's an investment, but I've loved having this as an option to display snugglers and other items. It has shelves with it too so I could sit things on the shelves if needed.
Your loveys need to be up higher, they are mainly for adults to buy them as gifts, not for children to be touching them easily. An adult will get it down from high and show it to the child if they are interested but I always put those up high enough so that maybe 5yrs and under can't reach them but they can clearly see them. I did notice that adults are really rough with your items at your booth and I was surprised, I rarely get an adult just coming up, grabbing squeezing and raming it back down on the table. You never know how a crowd is going to behave so be safe and put them up because I also feel very sad that you found your lovey in that condition. You could always was it and if it comes out in great condition, put it on discount. For the first time this weekend I had a clearance bin and they were older items I had for a few months that I feel aren't worth holding onto and I was amazed how quickly they went and people were so so happy with getting the bargains and I was excited that I made money back on the materials and a little extra plus it cleared up space for future makes. I love your lovey stand and it'll look great on the table
Thank you so much for taking the time to write your comment. I was surprised as well to see how rough this crowd was this year. I had to keep tidying up my booth after every few groups because it was always a wreck. That didn't happen last year.
Hi! Beautiful set-up! I too have problems with kiddy hands everywhere...sigh. May I ask you how you hang your snugglers. Do you have a specific gadget or are they on string. Thank you!😘
Thank you so much! They are hung with shower curtain clips 😂 the little clip clips gently to to the head without pulling stitches and then I can hang it on the peg wall.
@@awestruckcrochet. I love this display idea. I have a really hard time displaying Snugglers and they’re alway messy looking. Can you share where you got the peg board?
Yes! All my items are in Square. I use SKU # for items too so that when I'm checking out at markets, I can type the number in instead of the entire name of the item. For example, when I listed my mini bees into square the title in square is mini bees and underneath in the SKU box, I have 001. So I can type 001 and it'll bring up the mini bees. I write this number on the front of my pricing cards as well for market checkout.
Do you have concerns for safety eyes? I have been trying to stay away from them as I enjoy making the snugglers and baby things I know they are a choking hazard for kids below the age of 3. I do have a safety notice card that I put on my projects.
I don't have much trouble with them. I do take extra precautions with them to keep them in such as putting aida cloth onto the post before securing the back. I also melt the back down so that it's flat and has a harder time coming off the washer. The larger eyes are much better heavy duty than the 12mm eyes. I have a caution on all my listings with safety eyes and offer an alternative of embroidered eyes.
What would you do in the case that kids are cuddling the items onto their sweaty face? I just had that at my last market where it was really hot and humid out (central Florida) and a little girl kept cuddling a chenille Mabel chicken to her very sweaty face. I froze because how do you say something without coming off rude? I just took it off my table because that’s gross for someone else to buy without being washed.
