FYI: Gyrocopters do not get the -1 to hit for skirmishers, because only unit strength 1 models get the bonus.

Rolling double misfires and a one on the misfire table three times out of three is about a one in ten million chance. (1/6)^9 to be exact.

I disagree, template weapons got a double nerf with everything on bigger bases and partial hits coming back, as an empire player my mortars stay at home
31.51 you're talking about the mage refusing the challenge, if I'm not mistaken they were in a line with no second rank, one rank units can't decline challenges as there's no back ranks for the challenged to hide in.

I love that you play a lot of state troops and not just the current steam tank/griffin/demigryphs/archer circus train. Hope state troops will get a point reduction soon, to make the empire what it should be :D
So glad to see how much everyone is getting behind Old World.. As a rule set I just can’t help but feel it’s better. It just feels like Warhammer.. Sorry but anything after 7th Ed for 40K is really just a different game.
I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm sure the conclusion will be MORE STATE TROOPS.

I like The Empire and they should be present in The Old World.. Glad you keep their flag high!
Wp with your state troop and artillery list, showing off the power of steel and gunpowder. If you want some faith, you could substitute the general for a high priest of ulric or lector of sigmar for 11 more points kitted out with the sword of might, heavy armour, shield and the white cloak. For the same defense and offensive output (minus the dragon bow and the ld of 8) you get some powerful faith in your army. FOR SIGMAR!!
Glad to see you enjoying the Empire, nice to see the state troops getting a run out. I am building an army up at the moment based on blocks of infantry with Knight support.

Just to confirm that they are playable, played two games with double motars. First game I bonked a Giant to death and a orc boss on chariot. Only missed twice against other units on the first turn. Then second game first turn: rolled misfire, rolled a 1, tried again with my second mortar, rolled a misfire, looked into camera, rolled a 1
Hey dude love that you're doing old world, hope to see more! Going to my first RTT Saturday and torn between my beastmen and dwarves but I think this video makes the beastmen sound like a ton of fun. I have only played some low points games so far but at 2k they almost sound like a mix of GSC and world eaters from 40k which sounds like a blast.

Great Video brother. I'm gonna make an outlandish guess that when you play more competitive events you will see it's actually MONSTERhammer. You need to be able to deal with the Chaos Dragon/Star Dragon/Terrorgeists. I love what you're trying to achieve, ust consider planning for these terror causing "unkillable" flyers. I know you love the Stank but its useless vs these very competitive armies imo. It blocks the 2nd hellblaster as well, which I think is our best unit. Good luck with your list evolution though man. HOLD THE LINE

Those dudes need to get 6x4 tables though. The game is meant to be played on that size and with bigger bases over old WHFB.. it is needed.

Great round up! I'm 50/50 on stream tank...it never dies and is an anchor to battle line....but it never does much either and often stymied by cheeky pillar spells. It's a whack of points, I'm leaning towards 2 helblaster instead
I only played one event before the FAQ and didn't come against the mace. However as an imperial player I would have argued till blue in the face that the 2d6 attacks at S10 profile was a bad reading.
I know the volley gun is a powerful artillery unit but for the same points I'm interested in trying a unit of 6 outriders with a unit champion. It won't have the maximum damage out put of the volley gun but 18 shots per turn isn't bad, plus they have all the flexibility that comes with being fast cav.
Not surprised mace got changed. Myself would never have used as dont see point using what is quaranteed to be fixed
Something about dwarfs. I remember playing against them with my brets on the mission where you need to kill a percentage of the opponets army and you win. I nearly tabled the dwarf player but most of his points were in a hammeror unit with 2 characters. So I need to charge the hammerors and kill like 5 of em to win the game. I charge 2 units of knights of the realm, a grail knights unit, and a duke on Hippogrif into the hammerors. 2 units on the flank. After the dust has cleared I've killed a champion and 2 hammerors. He killed my grail knights to the man, and crippled both realm knight groups and wins the game lol
Dwarves might be hard...but their problem is they can't move. Their list has bit of build issue. You said death stars were common. Dwarves can't really build one. Well they can but enemy can just avoid them. And dwarves need to outshoot enemy. If not enemy can just kill some units and then avoid dwarves. Worsened by scenarios being "kill enemy". Ultimately enemy can just kill some 300pts worth of soft targets and avoid combats they can't win.
Death stars trap but soft units also risky least enemy just goble few of those for win.
Dwarves would benefit a lot if there were scenarios rewarding holding points at center line
I love the flair and style of the army, but Empire without cavalry and a combined arms approach is fighting with one hand tied behind your back. At this point, they're just subpar dawis, aren't they?
It makes me happy that the state troops are still useful, they made up the bulk of my old Empire army from the old Fantasy. Swordsmen, Halberds and handgunners backed up with great cannons, a steam tank, a Hellstormrocket battery and a hellblaster volley gun while Knights coming in on the flanks. I really must try the old world.
And the mortar has never been good, they where useless back in the old Fantasy. I used to play one and switched to the Hellstorm rocket battery instead becuse it was better.
I wish the empire had a rule like beastmen to let greatswords be core if a general was the leader.

The mortar is a one in a 6 to the power of 9 chance! That being said.. you’re throwing enough artillery dice per turn that you’re odds on for one misfire per shooting phase. With the engineers though that should be one double misfire per game. Strange that it happened to the mortar first turn every game though! And there’s no accounting for that 1 on the black power misfire table each times

Wait what!? You play 2k matches on small 4x4 boards? 6x4 is the proper size for everything above 1.5k. Otherwise you are just pushing blocks together.
What do you use to do your bases?
Six misfires in a row, is a 1 in 6 each time you roll.
So six in a row is 1 in 6x6x6x6x6x6 so 1 in 46656
Newark, the town where GW started, has a population of about half that, so grab the whole population of that town and get them to roll six artillery dice from each hand, one hand will roll as you rolled.
Just FYI, the dwarfs that scouted can’t charge turn 1 😊

Two points against your dwarf opponent that worked against you. 1) Only infantry get the minus 1 to hit from skirmisher so gyrocoptor shouldnt be harder to hit (unless Gyro has some special rule?). 2) You cannot charge turn 1 if you scouted, the rangers would not have been able to charge your mortar

re: Mortar, sounds like the average Skaven shooting phase to me.

I still wish you had some cav, if you ever try swap with steam tank. I was playing greenskins b4 they dropped Warhammer Fantasy, I thought it be cool to have opposite army based (started but never finished passion went with rules) on southern Borderwatch. Being a nappy fan, was gonna do the art/inf/cav set up. Feel some skirmish missile put up to soften assaults. one thing I hate about siege weapons is they are way too random like a bloodbowl game. drop silly morter for missile attachments

@@MordianGlory tbh i don't have the energy to paint that many men at arms, I can paint 30 knights syilized no problem, but by the 50th brown + a seccondary to match his knight man at arms my eyes glaze over
Id like to see a take on bretonions exiles list.
People really underestimate seeing something that is toughness 4, when most infantry has strength 3.
Also, absolute terrible luck with your mortar. Maybe take another wizard in it's place?
T4 heavy armor and shield. My High Ekf opponent hates it in older editions.
He would keep shooting and shooting and only kill maybe 1 or 2 Dwarves.
