As humans, we have a challenge that other organisms don’t have. We are confronted with way more reality than any of us can stomach. The question is, how do we release the tensions that build up in our anxious human lives?
“Art is a guarantee to sanity,” said Louise Bourgeois. Creative practice is a way to access a meditative state of mind, breaking free from the constant debilitating chatter of the mind. It also taps into the deep unconscious and allow us to tune in to how we're feeling inside, which can bring about profound healing.
The final result is not what matters. What is important is how the process of creating makes you feel. Why not use creativity as a way of spending some quiet time by yourself.

"Artists never retire" is something I heard as a young person. Now that I approach 70 years young, I am living that statement.
Gosh watching these videos makes me realise how much 40years in an office has cost me. We need creativity and a connection to nature to keep our souls safe.

@rowan orre Long dresses, wow. I am into slow stitching at the moment, and recently finished the back of a crocheted pillowcase by hand. I do have a sewing machine, but I am ambivalent towards her.
I used to work with drapery. I always loved hemming by hand. Sewing machines disturb me, lol

Every video your team makes has this amazing peaceful music, the details included in each frame, the picture and the colours, the right words with the right video frame, the right music.... every thing is like another magic ingredient which all comes together creating a whole world of magical moments for us. I read a biography of Quentin Tarantino once. And his best friend said "thanks goodness, he ended up being a movie director and script writer. Otherwise he would have been a mass murderer". So, I like to think artists would have been terrible human beings if they hadn't been artists, you know.
The creative part of the brain has got these deep roots into the unconscious and puts things together in strange ways and poetic ways to help us understand what is going on in the world. Creativity is there to help us explore who we are and puts you in touch with what is happening to you so that you live more deeply.
Our egos are little corks floating on the ocean. What we know (and our identity) is this small, and the unconscious is that big. So you've got this massive resource of the unconscious and we are trained, I think, by society, not to trust the unconscious. If you value your own creativity as a huge resource to help you process your own life and anxiety, you come to terms with your life, you come to accept the things that happen to you.
I've recently been through a very traumatic time. I couldn't see a way out of this situation. And writing was the thing that got me through actually. It contains you when you are flung apart with anxiety. Because in writing you can be characters that you would never be in your normal life. So on the page you are exploring a part of yourself that you wouldn't really let out. And things start happening on the page which you can never get to in your logical brain. You never know what's going to arrive from the unconscious because you are not working with what you know. You don't have to process it necessarily through words. You can process it through an image, take it to the clay, or do a collage. And then you have a conversation with what you don't know you don't know about your anxiety.
If we valued our own creativity for its own sake, for our own mental health's sake, I think the world would look like a very different place.
This is a beautiful art form my friend, thank you for sharing.

I have found something very small which right now, is giving me life. That is, taking photos; photos of things which stand out for me. "Create your own life". What an invitation, and how important that is. Understanding who we really are through creativity ... thats beautiful. I think I am finding this through what I see in my photos. Thank you. This is definitely my favourite one..the video itself is a work of art about art and creativity...how delightful! I relate to it as an artist, it's taken me 35 years to really come to see the value of my gift of creativity. It really is a gift from God to be treasured and used to serve ourselves and others.
I haven't come across any of your videos depicting younger, working, busy mums/dads trying to find peace and balance, creating and seeking spiritual growth, these things seem to come naturally to these mature aged people who have more time, less responsibility and are able to shine their wisdom...just a thought!

This seemingly innocent film is actually very spiritual reaching the crux of who we are....
Connecting ourselves to consciousness thought listening, following the heart, letting creativity create stillness and oneness within us.
I was especially touched by the profound spiritual depth of the lady with gray hair. Right on the money.
The gentleman also made a profound spiritual remark in the latter portion of the film. It is all about being in the moment. Being creative makes us aware of the moment....
And unbeknownst to us, we are one with the Source, connected to the Source in that moment and our spirit soars.
