Is there a list anywhere of these books with your ratings that I can peruse at my leisure whenever I'm in need of a new book? Hard to track through a video in a book shop haha
“I haven’t thought about this book since reading it” - that’s a really interesting benchmark, and a good point that I haven’t heard that many people make.
How is that in any way offensive to you, you’re seriously feeling inferior about reading. Maybe you shouldn’t be looking at things the way you are, it’s not a competition and them having read more is better for you as it means there’s more information available to you.
Great video! I really trust your opinion! I read 66 books and my favorites were The Hero of Ages (Mistborn 2) and Before They Are Hanged (First Law 2). I’ll be working on finishing both series this year
That's some rapid fire reviewing right there, we love to see it! Cassidy actually recommended The Collarbound to me after she had to read it for Booktube Bestie and I am halfway through and having a blast. Totally see why this wouldn't work for a lot of readers, but I am just reveling in the confusion hahah. YAY for Liveships, Threadlight, WoR and LoLL!! Seems like you had some absolute bangers last year :) Great video 🤩
This was a great look at the whole year; I watched your reviews on nearly all of them, so getting to refresh on them was a lot of fun! I'm struggling with what to do with Swann's new book. I didn't vibe with The Justice of Kings, which may have been partly missed expectations (it was built up in a lot of reviews as a true mystery, Sherlock-Holmes style, when really it was political intrigue with a bit of mystery and a dash of arcane. I was stoked for Agatha Christie with swords and didn't get it, haha). So I'm unsure whether I want to prioritize Book #2 right now when I have so many other books on the docket. Great video as always!
I'm actually more of a mass market paperback guy, but I decided to buy The Liveship Traders in hardcover, the dustjackets beautifully illustrated by John Howe, based solely upon you and some other booktubers' gushing about that series.
Read 49 books in 2022. Probable favorite was The Final Empire(Mistborn 1). But, can’t rule out the final few novels of The Expanse. Also, really loved Elantris. As you can see, I have a bit of a problem when trying to respond to my preferences. But, those stand out. As I’ve said many times before, so many books, so little time.
Can you next time show the book spines so we can see what books to expect? I get the mystery aspect but I think the seeing the book names as a whole would help. As you know, even us viewers may not have time- like you said (0:19)- to go through the entire video one by one lol- since no one has the list of books you've reviewed here. Thanks. Or perhaps just include the list in your description/ timestamps.
I’m saving Justice of Kings and Tyranny of Faith for March since I’m getting them both for my birthday. I read only 4 books in January. 😅 Spinning Silver Legends and Lattes Mistborn The House In the Cerulean Sea Here’s my 5 books for My February TBR: For The Wolf Howl’s Moving Castle The Powder Mage Trilogy - Promise of Blood - Crimson Campaign - Autumn Republic Been planning this for weeks so I hope I get all 5 books read. That’s my goal. 😁
As I’ve said countless times, The First Binding is not “reminiscent” of the Name of the Wind… it IS the Name of the Wind. Same characters, plot, magic system, lore, quotes, and on and on. If you like fan fiction, then that is the book for you😂
Elantris is a trilogy, not a stand-alone as sequels are going to be published on the coming years. You can read it as a standalone if you want, though Sel is central to the Cosmere so the sequels will be relevant to other future cosmere novels such as mistborn era 4 and stormlight.
The First Binding isn't similar to the name of the wind, it's a scene for scene rip off. How it actually managed to get published is absolutely unbelievable to me.
You talked about ship of magic and praised it a lot. So I thought "Hey I will read farseer trilogy and read liveship traders" but my disapointment was really big when I saw the first and third trilogy are out of stock the second and fourth are skipped and the only one available in my native language is fitz and the fool trilogy.
Good to "see" your overall reading year and not just the good experiences. I didn't enjoy Piranesi btw. The end was underwhelming to me. Just an opinion, glad you liked it tho
I read 157 and honestly my favorite read was Into The Drowning Deep by Mira Grant. I’m a romance reader so idk why it worked for me so well but I’m obsessed with it. You read several books I have on my TBR. Hopefully I will work up to them and I can compare ratings 😂
You should check out an older fantasy book The Broken Sword - Poul Anderson. It's taken straight from the old Norse legends it's not bloated only 250 pages. Dark full of violence and a Ragnarok ending.
I wish you could adjust your rating sytem from 1-5 to 1-10 because you talk about some books beeing not that great and they still get 3 stars while great books get 4 stars. Its a bit inconsistent. Otherwise a great video, ill check out some of the books you enjoyed. Im currently reading the Riftwar Saga i think its alright so far.
Thank you for your commentary. I wonder if you would be interested in being a beta reader for a book of mine. Your frankness and direct approach to reviewing books is something I could use myself. Fairytale fantasy, 120k words
Litrpg is definitely not for me, I've tried cradle more than once and can't get past like 50% of book one, it's just not my style. I want big huge epic fantasy, not characters grinding for XP
Great reviews But if you haven’t read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy by Tolkien, then as a fantasy fan you absolutely have to read it Highly recommended It’s amazing, pure perfection, Lord of the Rings is the best book ever written in the fantasy genre also best book ever written in the history of literature Tolkien’s an amazing writer, probably the best writer ever
While I can appreciate the complexities of making content and reading books, I find I don't get much from what this or any book reviewer says. Inarguably, I wouldn't even know of 90% of these books because I live in a country of shitty bookstores -so thank you for the heads up. The majority of the words that come out however seem like such repetitive hyperbole... it's almost comical. Like when stand-up comedians make fun of content provider intros......"HEYYYYYYY, what's goin on my friends.... It's me, the biggest blah blah BACK with...." With book reviewers, it's "And if you have watched any of my reviews before you'll know how much I adore blah blah. I just LOVVVED this book. The pacing, the world building, blah blah blah... it may be the best book I've ever read! And this next book... oh, I dont have the words.... Sigh.

Elantris was so good!
This video was awesome!! Thank you for also giving us a small review of each book 😍 Loved it!

I really enjoyed Howl's Moving Castle.

Oooo what is that series on the shelf right behind you? With the Roman numerals? Very eye catching.
I'm currently readin the way of kings, now i'm super exited for the second book!
Same. Hunger of the Gods saved me from a more than 3 month long reading slump... What a book..what a series

Until I see an announced release date for the sequel, I will continue to see it as a standalone only.
In regards to Priory of the Orange Tree, I completely agree! And it feels strange to be in the minority of those who thought it was overhyped!
Did you ever finish Cradle? It was amazing by the end.
just found this channel and love it
The First Binding isn't similar to the name of the wind, it's a scene for scene rip off. How it actually managed to get published is absolutely unbelievable to me.
I mean if the man finishes the trilogy. I'll take it.(not really plagiarism isn't cool)
Cool, maybe I'll adjust which book i'll read first, some look pretty good

A tip - if you hold up a book so people can see the cover art and read author and title - don't move around that much really distracting
