Thanks Davie! I am now age seventy one and have fly fished since age ten. I have been interested in fly fishing style from the UK all my life. NOW, I have discovered your videos and how to tie the flies from my ancestral home land. I live in Tennessee, USA. We have monster size brown trout a rainbow trout below our Tennessee Valley Authority hydro dams. I have watched a tutorial on wet fly fishing techniques by Davy Wotton who is from Wales. He now lives in Arkansas, US. He is the most knowledgeable and capable traditional UK fisherman in the US. Between you two pros, I am finally able to fulfill a lifelong dream of fishing just like people do in the old countries of my ancestors. Thanks! Your work means the world to me. Excellent Davie. Nice advice about lining up the wings with a wee overlap before tying them into place; I'll give that a try. Again many thanks for the tips.
Beautiful, Master Craftsman at work, was never a fan of the Peter Ross but I’ll definitely give this one a try, thanks again for another cracking dressing Davie. Cheers Jimf
Cheers for the great video Davie, as always full of really useful tips that can be applied to loads of other patterns. I'm trying to tackle some Mallard wing wet flies at the moment and this is a big help. All the best 👍
That’s a beauty! Great video.👍👍 You sure make it seem easy..I know better..at least for me.🙂 Thanks for showing us. Happy holidays and Best wishes to you!
Nice fly dave I have beening tying up the same type of fly only on a wet hook size 16 with a sunburst sealfur instead of the claret colour best fished at duck fly time
That is a great looking fly. I would like to ask what kind of vice is the one in your videos? I haven’t seen jaws like that before with the grooves for the hooks. Thank you for sharing your instruction.
Hi D Set, I use a Law vice but unfortunately it's no longer being made...I have attached a link to a video of the vice for you to see and I am glad you liked the fly it is a good one..th-cam.com/video/3P6MZIrpGG0/w-d-xo.html All the very best Davie

Davie---Help! I've been watching your videos since you started posting them. I've seen them all and continue to watch new ones as they are posted. I need your help though: A few years ago you tied a Diawl-Bach with a fluro-orange paint highlight. I liked it so much then that I went out and bought some paint from my local artist supply shop, but never got around to tying the fly. Now, I want to tie the fly and can't find it on your TH-cam channel. Can you help? Thanks. Cheers from Portland, Oregon
Hi Shannon York, I had a look through the Diawl-Bachs but I don't think I have one with the flu-orange paints though I do have a buzzer which I have attached for you to see..I hope this is of some to you but if not do get back to me.. th-cam.com/video/36Pla0jz3Uo/w-d-xo.html All the very best Davie
@@DavieMcPhail Dave, thanks. Yes, I've tied that buzzer pattern. And, I too, looked thru all the Diawl-Bachs videos and couldn't find one with flu paint either. Yet, I'm pretty darn sure it was a Diawl-Bach you featured with the flu paint that inspired me to go to the art store to get some. You gave the Diawl-Bach a catchy name to account for the presence of the flu paint. Now, perhaps I'm going crazy and it was a different fly, but I'd bet one of my favorite Winston B2x rods that it was a Diawl--Bach. Well, maybe I wouldn't go that far, but . . .. Cheers,
The usual consummate tying from Davy. But why depart from the traditional dressing but give the fly the traditional name 'Peter Ross'? The wing is Normally Teal and the body dubbing crimson. Maybe you should christen your creation Davy Ross! 2:582:59 😮
