I'm pretty sure that I saw Qndres do it(suggesting that he knows about it), but Yellow doesn't. Also I have no clue as to how an anvil is considered a "bad item" when it's one of the most useful items in the game.

They’re not, they just do several attempts at some of them. This one is probably the genuine first attempt due to the op loot he gets early.
