MONUMENTAL: Ep. 1 - Château de Chenonceau / Sofiane Pamart

Nicknamed "Le Château des Dames" (The Ladies´ Castle), the UNESCO world heritage site "Château de Chenonceau" in the magnificent French Loire region is also the place of Claude Debussy's first public recital in the summer of 1879. Recommended by his piano teacher, Marguerite Pelouze -then owner of the castle - invited him to complete her castles small chamber orchestra.
The 60 meter long gallery - commissioned by Catherine de Médicis in 1676, is the ideal location for the first episode of Monumental, featuring the French piano sensation Sofiane Pamart.

So wonderful to see this chateau's inside. Debussy played there I had never read that anywhere . Like Versailles it is a testament to the grand architects of the 15 th century .
