    Oh, _HELL YEAH!!!_
    I am in the market for an ELRS transmitter module (I was originally looking at BetaFPV's offering, but held off on it for quite some time) & it's great to see RadioMaster have come to the party. Granted I have their TX16S Mk1 (which I practically upgraded everything in it to make it a Mk2 before the Mk2 was released) & that has served me extremely well over the last two years, I reckon the Ranger would make a _fine_ addition to my collection. =^/.~=

    • @RCVideoReviews

    What will make this REALLY interesting (to me) will be if RadioMaster releases a line of ELRS receivers that are functionally similar to traditional PWM receivers (redundancy, stability, telemetry etc) -- especially if they have Full functioning telemetry support and inexpensive quality sensors (SPort PLEASE).

    • @malte9999
      @malte9999 ปีที่แล้ว

      The receiver lineup is expanding almost continously.
      Telemetry is a different story, since the protocol between module and radio, which is CSRF, has its limits.

      Thanks for the comment. These modules are really for radios that aren't equipped with internal ELRS. Unless you have a very specific use case for dual transmitters (and there are some) there is no point in using an external module if you have an internal module as well.

    Wonder if they will be refreshing these with the temperature compensated oscillator. Makes me want to hold off until there is some info addressing that situation. Especially at 1w or unlocked to 2w mode. Even with the fan the pcb could get toasty and shift the frequency.

      I don't know what a flight terminator device is or a power kill....

    • @SKY53.
      @SKY53. ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RCVideoReviews A flight terminator for drones, also known as an emergency remote control system or a kill switch, is a critical safety feature that allows an operator to immediately stop a drone's flight in case of an emergency or potential flight away situation. It is an independent remote control system that operates separately from the primary drone control system. This design adheres to many European regulations for safe UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) operations.
      The flight terminator system works by sending a command signal to a relay, which is a switch that can open or close a circuit, installed within the drone. Upon receiving this command, the relay activates an action to cut off the power supply to the drone's motors. This action ensures the immediate cessation of the drone's flight, as it no longer receives power from the battery.
      In summary, a flight terminator for drones is an essential safety feature that allows the operator to have an independent, remote control mechanism to stop a drone's flight in case of emergency situations. This system complies with European regulations and provides an additional layer of safety for UAV operations.

    • @richw0123
      @richw0123 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they are for drones with cameras on board, they need different radio protocols because of all the extra information in the signal and the long distances involved. But it really isn't obvious what these things are for if you fly regular RC planes and gliders, I had to do some googling.

    • @jimn6sxb644
      @jimn6sxb644 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm converting all my fixed wing planes over to ELRS (got 8 converted now). So, yes, ELRS is good for planes too. Look at MatekSys for receivers and pwm converters with options for telemetry (like battery voltage, current, altitude and gps to name a few).

    • @hughnelson7492
      @hughnelson7492 ปีที่แล้ว

      iirc a stronger signal to the receiver. longer range. No bind button. when you set up the receiver they use a passcode basically so once turned on when both items see the passcode. they work. Multi rotor use them more as flying behind objects the signal can get through. Generally LOS flying not so much. but more planes are having FPV options.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All of my models are in the process of being switched to ELRS. The quads will be last as they too use Crossfire which is very good. I just want consistency. I've proven ELRS to myself by flying it in my planes and helis over the summer. I'm convinced it is reliable enough for anything I own. As others have said though, it will be good to see more form factors in the PWM space. I think those Rx's are in the pipeline. ELRS 3.0 which enabled 8+ PWM channels was only recently released. The manufacturers need time to get products engineered and through production.

    • @spyder000069
      @spyder000069 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RCVideoReviews The million dollar question though is... Why change from crossfire? Yes, there can be a faster update rate, yes elrs use a different rf protocol that has the potential to be more robust at some extremes. However, crossfire has many years of proven reliability. Crossfire supports mavlink which elrs doesn't. Crossfire's firmware update process was 1000x smoother. Don't get me wrong. I bought some elrs stuff to play with too. However, I am apparently not precise enough of a flyer or my setups aren't to tell any difference in control. There are a lot more features in my opinion that crossfire has to explore verses elrs. So besides my fleet having a lot of ardupilot that makes more sense to stay with crossfire (mavlink) I don't have any negatives about crossfire to justify my time/$ to switch to elrs other than its the new cool kid on the block. :^) Just my take on it and I know everyone's situation is different.
