One thing I've always thought to be ridiculous is when a person has paid national insurance contributions towards their state pension, and dies before they reach pension age, the government keep those contributions. I think it would be better if those contributions could go to the surviving children (when there is no spouse or civil partner).
What has really pissed me off is that I worked, from the age of 16 years old, for 44 years. But because I retired at the age of 60, I do not recieve the full amount of state pension - due to the new rules...!!!. Also, my date of birth was in the June of 2016, which meant my retirement age fell after the April 2016 date, so I am screwed either way. The rules don't allow any consideration for someone who has worked all of his life, but someone who has never worked gets everything; even a free care home place should they need it, whereas I will have to pay for my own. But who said "life ain't fair"...???
My husband died in 2021 aged 61 we both had full pension credits , will I be able to inherit his state pension . I will be eligible for my state pension in March 2026 . If I can inherit his state pension how do I go about getting it . Any help on this matter would be a great help Thank You
I don’t think you’ll get anything of your husband’s pension. My husband died in 2020 he was 62 and I’ve been told by DWP that I’m not entitled to any of his pension 😢
My dad died at 67 from a heartattack on holiday mum was so devastated she passed shortly after 😢😢

Remember, NI is a tax. Nothing more or less. No tax refunds on death unless you have overpaid for some reason.
