It could be either, I probably should've explained it better in the video, but if you go to the section where I say that it is going to be supporting one floor and one roof like a two-story home, then you can use any of those examples. 16 inch on center two by fours up to 10 feet tall is usually an accepted method.
@@gregvancom thank you for the reply i was unsure as to whether the height of the wall meant ground to roof or floor to roof. but i now see where i misunderstood. i was including the floor that the wall is supported BY, along with the one it would be supporting
I would make a video if I personally liked using 24 inch on center stud spacing, but since I don't, probably won't be making a video. The information however can be found on the chart that I mentioned in the video description box.
on that 2 story wall, would the ground floor wall be with 2x4 or 2x6

For a wood frame 3 story house (2 floors and an attic under a gambrel roof so essentially a third floor) are 2x6 studs strong enough or do I need 2x8?
I cannot advise provide you with structural engineering advice, but can provide you with my opinion. 2 x 6 spaced 16 inches on center should be fine.
Thanks for the info!...I`m learning how framing a shipping container.
You can do it!
please do the same video but with lvl studs instead:)
Thanks for the video!
Good works
Thank you and thanks for being the first one to comment.
Now do the same video for 24" o/c stud spacing. Thank you.
