Shane's story reminds me of what happened with Cena and the Nexus. Barrett told it in an interview, they were going over only to find out at the last minute that the main roster guys, led by Cena, would take the victory. Cena had gone in and politicized his opinion to Vince and the approval was made with little to no reasoning, though it was obvious. That line where Vince says ' We here in the World Wrestling Federation believe the fans should go home happy' 😆 🤣 😆 He clearly didnt get his own memo RA era onwards.

As 4 yr old in Syracuse I was always sad Sean ain’t return and never wanted to believe my uncle. Mind u we would walk to the shows when they came around.
I was there for that In Your House 4 Great White North PPV and it was on October 22 in Winnipeg. I can say the same what Shane said when Shawn, Kevin & Hunter arrived at noon ( in Duffy's taxi) Shawn didn't look that bad compared to the shot done in the ring live that night. Btw they messed up when Razor went to celebrate with the pyro. We didn't get to see Undertaker he was hurt, Bret worked a dark match and Dean vs HBK was another match I was looking forward to so that PPV tanked indeed

Dude fingered Sonny while getting interviewed by her, and even under the influence can still cut a promo better than Brett.
WWF signed Shane to bury him so he wouldn’t be an option for WCW at some point. They’d done that before with several wrestlers like Terry Taylor. Only it didn’t work with Shane

I know one of the guys that was there during that fight. It was a guy from a group of Army people who were there, not a marine.
13:00 No idea what Douglas is talking about here. The announcers made a HUGE deal about his foot being under the bottom rope. Lawler was practically screaming about it and JR/Vince admitted that Lawler was right, but said that nevertheless the title would change hands because referee decisions were final in the WWF.
Some people's accounts like to place them as victims
Decided to go watch the ending of the Razor match Shane’s talking about. Lawler was calling out Shane’s leg being outside the ring the entire time, and Vince and JR agreed after seeing the replay. It was a whole big scene of Douglas explaining to ref and the commentary team his leg was out. The way he tells it Vince told everyone not to mention it to make him look bad lol.
"9 thugs in Syracuse," aka Marines 😂😂😂.
Shane is a fellow Pittsburgher and is a true legend! WWF went out of their way to tarnish his legacy. True wrestling fans know that he's on the list of workers who know the ins and outs of the squared circle.
He wasn’t a legend. He never was a massive draw in the business.
@@brianezell5790 Just because they weren't successful in WWE doesn't mean there are an utter failure. By that warped logic, one can argue Shawn Michaels shouldn't be considered a legend because he didn't draw any money during the new-generation era.
WWE is NOT (nor it shouldn't be) the "be all, end all" any wrestler career.
Even Foley said Douglas was his own worst victim
Go Steelers
Shane's awesome
"Gravity falls up?" 😅😂
Shane's story reminds me of what happened with Cena and the Nexus. Barrett told it in an interview, they were going over only to find out at the last minute that the main roster guys, led by Cena, would take the victory. Cena had gone in and politicized his opinion to Vince and the approval was made with little to no reasoning, though it was obvious. I believe Jericho touched on it and said that he and Edge said it was a bad idea - surely enough, even Cena saw it was bad but by then it was too late
Those were Army soldiers from Ft. Drum. 10th Mountain soldiers hang out between Watertown and Syracuse, NY.
I read Shawn’s book and he legitimately doesn’t remember anything from that night really….I can totally believe that…when you’re blackout drunk and on pills, you’re prone to do stupid shit and not remember any of it…not absolving Shawn but it is what it is
I swear he knew what he was doing I've been so drunk before that I remember everything I so don't believe it
But then again I kinda understand the pill part because I've witnessed people drunk and on pills too
Does anyone really believe Shane talked to Vince like he claims? I don’t for a second
I do, and it's probably why he got fired pretty quickly and went back to ECW where he could be a big fish again, no matter how small the pond.
Just because you play a bad@$$ on tv, doesn't mean you are one... looking at you cm punky brewster.😂❤
“In the wwf we send the fans home happy” 2023 - Cody loses to Roman at wrestlemania 😭
How are the ratings been with The Bloodline? How habe the tickets been? 🤔
Ah! So Vince was always a bad booker.
It was either 10 marines, or an army corporal from the 10th mountain division.
They shouldn’t have thrashed the living hell out of him, especially if he was drunk. Besides, 10 against 1 wasn’t fair. Good thing they didn’t kill him.
Being from Syr can confirm this is one of our city's greatest moments #315
#cusetown
Facts me too!!!
😂😂 wasnt expecting james singing
Would have been nice if Vince would have introduced a wrestling angle with a new wrestler claiming to be that Marine that beat up Shawn and come in with an crazy story line.
John Cena as a marine was bad enough 😂
He would not embarass his boy toy.
I met Shawn shortly before the beating maybe a month before.Nice enough guy but believed his own hype.Saw him hitting on other guys wives and girlfriends and told him one of these days someone ain't gonna put up with that and he blew it off.
Yea sure buddy
Lotta talk about stretching asses in pro wrestling 😂😂
Probably the worst was when Jeff Jarrett was in WCW and told someone he'd stretch his ass like it had never been stretched before.
@@carleton4199 😂😂😂
LOL! It's been said so often, I'm starting question if it's really an euphemism or not.
@@carleton4199I can imagine double J doing the same in AEW 😂
That's why Pat Patterson could never retire from the WWF. He had his hands full.
Most wrestling fans have no idea who Shane Douglas is never heard of him. If you told them you'd get ok 😐
loved watching him in ecw
What wrestling fans you talking about? The 15 years olds today that you hang out with?
Acting like wrestling fans don’t know the top heel for much of ECW and a member of a major faction in WCW just makes you sound foolish to wrestling fans.
James, your singing voice is a gift to be shared with the world. Uncage that bird and let it fly!
9:36 lol, Vince didn’t apply that philosophy when his boy toy beat Bulldog at One Night Only
All those games Vince played came back to haunt him when wrestlers started leaving the WWF and joined WCW.
And who got the last laugh?? Remind me again?
The announcers DID talk about the leg under the rope, they even played back 2 different replays showing the leg under the rope.
The story never changes shawn got beat up
It wasn't a Marine that kicked his ass, It was some soldiers from Ft. Drum (Army). Shawn was being a jackass, but it was a few guys that threw him a beating.
Hey everybody! Shane Douglas has had medical training.
I believe Shane's version
I've heard him tell it 3, 4 times over the yrs. It has not changed.
Pretty funny to listen to the way Chantel's stories. There's been several rumors of Shawn getting in several "kerfuffles" and not coming out on top.
shawn got into a lot of fights outside the ring and he never ended up looking too good after . he got put out of commission after a texas fight
Haha, that Shawn Michaels cheese song, unfortunately I remember it well because they played it so much.
That line where Vince says ' We here in the World Wrestling Federation believe the fans should go home happy' 😆 🤣 😆
He clearly didnt get his own memo RA era onwards.
Shane is definitely right I was just old-school wrestling from the 80s it was so much better but the horsemen would beat up and jump there opponents at every house show building up anticipation for Magnum or Dusty or somebody to get their revenge at that upcoming pay-per-view it was awesome
Shane is a great interview
Shawn Michaels got his ass handed to him by one Marine, not a group of them.... 😅
This guy never even reached MIDcard status. Why is it professional wrestling has so many narcissist?
All I know is he was the man in ECW and the biggest heel when I watched. That was fine enough for me.
Opener in WWF. Some midcard later.
Midcard WCW.
Main event ECW.
That's out of order but you get it.
As 4 yr old in Syracuse I was always sad Sean ain’t return and never wanted to believe my uncle. Mind u we would walk to the shows when they came around.
This shits honestly sad. Still talking about a man you didnt like from 30 years ago.
Should he have just said no comment?
@Hose Pipe its just the way he is. All bitter . It's sad bro. I'm a fan of the franchise too.
@@hosepipe and ya why not say no comment
Shane's shoote are gold and his stories never change.
I remember in some other interview Davey Boy was so huge he couldn't get out of the rental on time, and Shawn got jumped by the whole group
Me too. I’m from Winnipeg. We were 2nd row on the floor. I was 21 years old. You can see us on camera a lot. Sid got right in my face and we had a huge stare down after his dark match. 😅 and it was also the debut of Gold dust
shawn could not fight his way out of a brown paper bag with 3 days rain on it
He held his own against Bret.
@@miesvaillanykyisyytta3252 AAAHAHAHAHAHA yeah right
@@miesvaillanykyisyytta3252 When? During the backstage fight in Hartford when Bret ripped out a handful of Shawn's hair? 😅
@@miesvaillanykyisyytta3252 That's because Brett was such a pro he could put a bag of flour over.
stretching ass lol sounds like a wrestling documentary. similar to the cream team documentary
Silly as it sounds I never got Shaun's appeal, simply because even as a 10 year old I just couldn't suspend my disbelief and imagine that dude could beat any of the roster in a real fight. Vader would literally stomp the living crap out of him and it just was impossible to believe otherwise. Of all the smaller dudes in the game he was one of the less convincing to ME as a kid. 🤣
I can understand that, but regardless, Shawn was a great wrestler in spite of that. And for millions of fans, that was enough.
Yeah, I didn’t like his male stripper gimmick and all the prancing around. If you watched audience reactions in the 90s, neither did many other people who were not women or little kids.
Well there's a reason business was down in this era.
Shawn was the start of the current generation of indy wrestlers.
Entertaining? Sure. But he is the first top guy I could look at and think " This entire thing is choregraphed "
Like Brett was any better? No pop outside of Canada, weak on the Mic all his career up until 97 when turned heel. At least Shawn could talk, especially during the attitude era. Dude fingered Sonny while getting interviewed by her, and even under the influence can still cut a promo better than Brett.
I love his stories
Michaels & Dynamite are the two greatest pro rasslers who ever lived 💯
WWF signed Shane to bury him so he wouldn’t be an option for WCW at some point. They’d done that before with several wrestlers like Terry Taylor. Only it didn’t work with Shane
Funny how Vinces philosophy of sending the fans home happy didnt apply when Shawn beat Bret in Montreal or when he beat Davey in England. Sounds more like send Shawn home happy to me.
Vince and Shawn seemed to like making sure they each had their happy endings....
@@rangergeorge6808 there have been numerous interviews with former wrestlers for the fed that said Vince would unprompted talk in detail about his homosexual experiences and it freaked the locker room but no one was gonna say anything to the guy signing their paychecks for obvious reasons.
It happened at Club 37 in Syracuse.
I had as much fun listening to Shane Douglas bitch and yell at his promos as I did watching him wrestle. Shane you too cool
It must be cool to be in a secret societies where you get everything handed over that's what this sounds like
It amazes me that people like Shane Douglas would be paid for an interview when he has no clue at all about the truth on the subject matter. I sit here and watch and he talks about Sean being assaulted in Rochester which is nowhere near Syracuse and even the account of it was one Marine that did Sean's damage. For flirting with his girlfriend.
@@jonnyo.p.1773
another victim of autocorrect. But can your snarky ass claim "computer interference" for Shane's lack of details being correct? Better yet, is being a snarky internet troll a paying position?
It's hilarious that Chad Frost got his ass kicked by a marine 😂
