      I think he was confused why Randolph shot the ball when he should've held on to it and waited to get fouled

    • @supermanvann69

      +Yuan Shen no Randolph should've taken that shot he is our best scorer

      @adelachaudh2416 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Smith if Randolph is the best shooter then that play was perfect and Kobe has even less reason to react.
      The only reason I coudl think of was that the player who took the shot was significantly worse than the other players at 3PT.

    I think a lot of people here are forgetting....
    The lakers needed 3 points to tie the game. Jordan Hill took a 2-pointer.
    It's a lot easier to take the three and tie the game, rather than make a 2 and let the other team waste time, and get a hasty shot with 4 seconds left

    • @pingKING94
      @pingKING94 9 ปีที่แล้ว +100

    • @brah2K
      @brah2K 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      pingKING94 2 for 1 in this case means that you must make both shots

    • @kevinseveneleven
      @kevinseveneleven 9 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      pingKING94 if you're going 2 for 1 you have to go quicker and get a better shot than that

    • @lifetimeskater24
      @lifetimeskater24 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Patric Lee All of you are right. 3 Pointer, 2 for one. Both strategies are fine, but I think J Lin could have made a better decision on the play.

    • @matde100
      @matde100 9 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Patric Lee do you even understand basketball? In any situation, even if it's not a 2 for 1 lets say there's less than 24 seconds left on the clock down by 3, you still don't have to force up a 3. There is a much higher probability of getting an easy 2, then fouling, or in this case, going for the defensive stop, then having the ability to win the game with another 2 pointer down by 1

      +JJCS670 You guys have no idea what you're talking about. A 2 for 1 situation means that the Lakers would've gotten two possessions over the opponent's one. Lin made a great decision for rushing a play, especially since Jordan Hill had a good FG percentage with jumpers.

      +Conjah Maybe Kobe of 2002-2011, but not the Kobe of late. Lin the made the right play…Hill's mid-range was 50% and they should have gotten the ball back for final possession. The Lakers were just bad and continue to be bad until Kobe finally gives it up and gets out of the way. Other teams in rebuilding mode are doing much better and with a much smaller payroll. Just look at Portland, Indiana, Boston, Detroit, Phoenix, Utah, & Denver. The Lakers need to dump Jim Buss, Scott, & move Kobe into a Vince Carter-like role and stop giving him a max contract.

    Coach called the play "elbow," so Kobe could get the ball using Lin as a screen. Jeremy thought the coach yelled "go," so he hurried past the half court, made a play that resulted in a wide open shot for Hill (which was a shot Hill has shown he can make). In Kobe's own words, "it was just misunderstanding...but I mean we still got a good look..." That rebound at the end tho, Lakers got get that one. He probably would've missed it anyway. In fact, Jordan Hill probably had a better chance of hitting that shot than anything Kobe would've forced up.

    I think kobe was raging at hill, not jeremy, for shooting that. They were gonna set a play they were using the whole game where Kobe stays in the right wing, while lin drives up to the side of the top of the key near kobe and hill is on the left side of lin. One Lin is there, he hands it off to hill and they execute the play when lin sets a pick for kobe at the right wing and kobe gets the ball and he either shoots a three if he's open or runs ISO and does some post up fadeaway shit lol... Either way I'm sure kobe would have made the shot... Jordan hill just HAD to rush the shot. There were like 15+ seconds left on the shot clock and he was off from mid range the whole game. Idk what he was thinking, just because ur open it don't mean shit when u kno ur cold from that range. Fuckin hill...

    Old clip, I know. But let me break it down for you all:
    As Lin is bringing the ball up you'll see him looking at his coach for instructions. Lakers want, what's called a "2-for-1" at this point. This means Lakers want 2 possessions (hopefully 2 baskets) to Grizzlies 1 (hopefully a miss or a turnover). You will notice there's not a lot of time left so your window for a 2-for-1 can close if time is not managed properly.Hill sets a loose screen or a low screen, this is designed so that the ball handler (Lin) draws both defenders allowing for an open shot or an open lane for a teammate (in this case, Hill). If the screen is too tight or too loose, Lin would only draw 1 defender resulting in a contested shot. The play works perfectly and well timed, only Hill missed the shot.
    We can see Kobe signaling Lin to slow it down, but if Lakers took any longer than 3 more seconds than they did, they would have lost their 2-for-1 window. All seems to be in order except for Kobe. Which begs the question, what was Kobe so mad about??? My guess is, Kobe was upset that Lin didn't take an extra 2 seconds (3 would be too long) to get a better shot. In other words, he was upset that Lin didn't manage the time more efficiently than 3 seconds. Then again, none of us were on The Lakers bench at the time so we will never know. So in this particular sequence, it was nobody's fault. If anything, it's the entire teams fault for putting themselves in this predicament in the first place. So there you have it.

      +Kong Lee wrong, going for a 2 for 1 situation down the clutch is foolish and no great coaches ever do that. Only dumbasses would do that in the 4th quarter and going for a rushed shot in the clutch would put you on the bench for a while(If Phil, Riley, or any coaches that won a ring was the coach). Can't blame Lin though, him and his fans only knows a thing or two about basketball. Y'all don't know how to win games like Kobe.

      ***** Ever heard of the term "demanding the ball"? Obviously he didn't at all because Allen was guarding him tight. Hill should have set the screen to free up Kobe, Lin passes it to him, and have him ISO. Simple as that. Also, Tony Allen is an outstanding perimeter defender. But he doesn't have the best defensive awareness in the NBA.

    • @illusivezero0482
      @illusivezero0482 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Yeah, fine. I didn't say Hill should set a pick for Kobe. But Lin driving to lane should definitely bring Allen a little bit towards the paint, giving Kobe some space. Anyone with common sense would do that, especially an all nba defensive team member. Even though if David Joerger told Allen to focus just on Kobe.

    Good play by Lin. He created an open shot. Rest was up to Hill and his decision. He chose to take a shot and missed it. He could have rotated it but it is what it is. He missed but it was an ok play as he was wide open. Kobe would have forced even lower chance shot. His field goal % in clutch situation is just HORRIBLE. But his cock sucking fans think he's some sort of LeBron Jordan. Truth is he's Clyde Drexler.

A cold and less defended Hill or a more defended Kobe in the clutch who can create space?

      ***** I don't want to debate on Kobe vs Shaq coz that is pointless. The reason why some fans don't agree on this is probably they are too young to experience the 2000-2002 lakers dynasty and they didn't have the chance to see how shaq was dominant the game, and they probably didn't know the league has change to rule because shaq's advantage.
      But as you question the calibre of kobe and Pau Gasol, i have to remind you that in espn's ranking, they put gasol no.44 and kobe on 40. I know kobe regard this rank as rubbish and maybe most of kobe fans will follow their god on this. In this season, Pau has a PIE of 16% and kobe has 12.3%.

Remember there's not defense for shooting 35% FG. He needs to trust his team of this season will end up with 20 wins if they only plays against EAST.

    He is not rage because Lin passed to Hill instead of him. He raged because they needed to keep the clock and shoot 3.

    There was a reason Jordan hill was wide open. The grizzlies fully expected that ball to go to kobe in a two for one who wouldn't.

    as a hooper.. I can understand Kobe's frustration a little bit.. he has that killer will to take over and play hero ball that can win them the game.. but Lin was trying to earn Kobe's respect maybe

    Stats of Kobe until now: 67 shots made on 182 attempts= 36.8%
    Rest of the Lakers: 226 shots made on 486 attempts= 46.6%
    KOBE STOP SHOOTING THE BALL AND GIVE IT TO YOUR TEAMMATES!!!

  • @OMFGLOLROTFLWTF
    @OMFGLOLROTFLWTF 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    2 for 1 isn't a bad play. There is a 14 second shotclock difference, thats plenty of time to pressure up on D and make the second shot. and the spacing he created for hill was decent, but too bad hill sucks. he could've passed it to Kobe but in a normal team setting where all your players are around the same level that is the correct play.

  • @keefeburton4183
    @keefeburton4183 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    there was no anger at all at Lin. Kobe was just letting him know that the possession could've been better an that instead of panicking that pass to Hill he should've looked for a better shot

  • @Poooooooowaaaaaa816
    @Poooooooowaaaaaa816 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Kobe had a right to get mad to Lin and Hill. He is a STAR veteran, he knows a lot how basketball works. The play was suppose to milk the clock and give to a guy who can shoot 3s. Lin is inconsistent, Hill can't shoot 3s. There was no one in the Laker roster who had the guts to shoot a game tying 3 pointer

  • @bluekarma4
    @bluekarma4 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Even though Lin could’ve hit that tying shot he should of given it to Kobe on the wing so he wouldn’t cry about it.
