For the island you can actually put a zip line connecting the island to the cliff for transporting logs. This also gets rid of the need to connect the island to the main land, thus making it impossible for the cannibals to get you.
When building on an island, first build a small raft. Then place a log holder on the small raft. You can also place a stick holder and a rock holder too. Ferry stuff across the water with the raft.
@@carved6749 depends if they come to their routes, im using a spot on the top left on map and let me tell you i love it, theres so many choices from mountain house to plain house to tree house
⚠️FOR THE TREE SPOT⚠️ down on the rock wall edges, if you have a cowman (which you most likely will bcs it is a patrol area) if he starts running it can actually run up the wall and get into the base... I learned that the hard way. So just make sure to block off the sides too
My favorite place is the high ground in the fertile lands - above the cliffs north of the east end of the river. With a couple ziplines going to and fro across the river it is not far from the main village. Blueberries, trees, sticks, deer, rabbits, lizards, fish, coons, and defensive ground abounds. The drawback is that it's far from most of the map. My most recent and favorite fort location is on the river lake on the northeast side of the Hole (the middle lake). I built a fort out on the water with "custom foundation" and built it 3 stories high with a restaurant, bar, inside/outside dining, storage area, wrap-around patios, and my private room upstairs as owner of this resort. (I built it with "custom walls" with an extra layer of rock wall to make the ceilings a bit higher). Business is not good, however, as no people are around. That's a great central location in the map with lots of traffic for bones and big game (mutants). The entryways go from the building to boulders on the shore, that Cannies will bypass sometimes, but not usually. A good central location is great for getting to & from anywhere on the map. Remember that water is similar to cliffs, as it is a natural barrier to Cannies and Mutants.
You can overlap storage units as long as they're still unfinished, so you can get like 7 log holders on a small raft. Just helpful to know if you build on an island. Also, log sleds are buggy af. I've had them launch a thousand feet in the air, clipping and sticking into every object, and they're apparently indestructible, so if one is stuck in your building zone you're done for.
ye it is i had a base there too... the problem was you cant get wood down there cuz it will stuck on the invisible wall, so a player has to jump into the hole so the wood renders and it keeps falling, pretty annoying^^ But it was ok with 7 players
0:32 first time playing i spawned right there by that beach. With out even knowing, I started building there thinking it would be safer, and it was! Very helpful, you can build walls or traps to block or deter cannibals from coming down, and they probably wont anyway. Lots of room, turtles spawn regularly, so do seagulls which can give you feathers. Also right by the main cannibal village for you to raid a TON of cloth and goodies (or if you are unlucky like me and die, its just a short hike back home) Only cons I have are you need to go back up for supplies like logs, but you can zip-line them down (make a log catcher!!! I lost a few that rolled off into the ocean) and if you really want to make sure the cannibals don’t come to say hi, dont build stairs, use the natural rock “steps” there, but they can be a pain to get use to using... also the view is sort of dull, just a lot if water and bare land.
I recommend mostly building in open spaces, because there you have an advantage. The advantage is - you can clearly see the cannibals, and it will be hard to miss them unlike the forest where there are tons of trees and unexpected mutants or cannibals that mix up with trees. Also about the mutants, high grass in forests can be a good camo spot for babies that come out I believe on day 7. So take my comment as an advantage too and try that technique. (Also I realized just today that my base is on a cyan patrol near the big sinkhole, thta terrified me as I have rarely saw any cannibals. But now I will move to that beach on 0:32 to avoid mutants which are starting to get closer and closer to my base.) (your incredible and have a lot of free time if you read this)
But the thing with the trees is : if you cut the trees for them to fall in your bases direction, they have a chance on falling on any wood object and breaking it without a chance of it surviving the hit.
I'd go for a few natural barriers aswell, just out in the open will get you into trouble from all sides; watch out for cliffs, coast lines, etc. everything that gives you at least one direction which you don't have to defend. as for the log problem, it won't take long until the trees around your base are gone so that'll solve itself. in the meantime you can switch off building destruction in options-gameplay and everything should be dandy
My favorite location so far is the upper left-hand side of the map, there's a cliff that separates the swampy lower area from a snowy upper area between two small lakes. I have a co-op game where my buddy and I have built a fortress that goes up the cliff, and it's incredible. Plenty of food, a good amount of logs, no real issues, and turtles for days a little ways away. the last location, i actualy made a base with a friend in the village.. we walled it off with defensive walls... but left the lake side clear, with a house by the water... its an escape route.. this is an amazing location.. very few attacks, constant cloth and rope spawns, drinks, snacks etc..

Main cannibal camp my fave. Build rockwall joining all tents gives alot of space in the middle to make a base, alot of trees around small pond, sticks, deer, dynamite , soda rope cloth
My preferred build spot is at the cockpit. On the map from the cockpit if you go east there as a huge cliff and if you build at the bottom of it you barely get attacked but there is a mutant spawn point right on the ramp which goes down to you're camp but if you build not to close to it the mutant wanders round the cannibal camp and then leaves and despawns it's a great spot with loads of trees it has a small pond for hunting fish and there is an abundance of animals running round 👍
I usually build at the lake, next to a cave, it's pretty close to the sea, 3 cannibal houses, and 2 more caves aswell. I usually build at the side of the lake facing the sea, first I make a raft to be safe, then I make a wall, with defensive walls so I have enough space to build everything I need on the land, just make sure the cannibals can't walk around it, I usually include the cave inside the walls so incase a mutant breaks trough the wall and I can't get to my raft fast enough I can go in the cave. Building around the yacht is by far the easiest way to survive, which is a good thing in this game. The cannibals and mutants can't get to you. You have to go to them. Perfect way for a first playthrough
3:05 I live where the great lake is. Right side, close the lake and the sea you see 3 round pieces of land. Left, middle and right. Go to the right one, enemies there don't spawn any time for any reason. I built my stuff without defensive walls and they never spawn. That is the most secure place I've found. Not mentioned on this video tho.
i live on the beach by the yacht (the boat) Edit: this comment was from 3 years ago, this was my main location because I was verrrrry scared back then XD so I basically camped on the boat for the whole game :/ I wasted so much time omg XD
same, at the first 40 days was everything ok, till I expanded my wall a bit into the forest so I could have trees inside the walls. Worst thing to do, now I have groups of 5 everyday knocking the walls :'/
Second location has crazy amount of patrols (at least in my game)...getting trees is not a problem if u build zipline from forest to the big tree..u can send logs through it...just build wall around the end of the zipline so the trees dont go flying off
ziplines work pretty well there, it's basically ocean level so you can get logs from many places since pretty much everything is higher up. since you have the log situation under control you might want a bit of peace to build, if you build a wall far enough away from your base the enemies won't see you and won't become hostile. as long as you're about 20-30 metres away they'll just stand there, maybe build some effegies (aka being nice and bringing you sticks right to your doorstep), and leave again. if you want to make the "piss off" message extra clear build deadfall traps parallel to it (just make sure you build them a bit away from the wall so you don't get hit if you're close to it), you can pick the bodies up and even reset your traps without leaving your base - with the traps it basically turns into a bone farm
gotta say my personal faves are crater/sinkhole and the island with the gun part :) Island gives no cannibals or armsy/vags/cows. while the sinkhole got enemies above you, and underneath you. (pretty easy to kill)
That village at the end is extremely dangerous!!! There’s 3 patrol routes there and I kept getting attacked. The area is really fun to play but it does have its disadvantages
Sure. But as long as you build on the lake itself, you are pretty much untouchable. I built a narrow bridge connecting to the land and just stand there when cannibals attack. They try to cross and almost always end up in the water to drown.
I dont recommend number 4 unless You are crazy. If You start build there it will be like open war with cannibals. I have tried there with 3 other friends. We suffer 3 attacks each day. That was the most insane fight in my gametime. The best spot for me is the hill right to the river mouth. It very rarely encountered by cannibals. You have decent amount of threes, You have water poles and fishes, animals around. The best for me.
Just starting out an I built in fertile lands now starting on that island at 3:10 You can use zip lines for logs too. My friend set me up wish there was a host log dupe he's not in my time zone lol
My friends and I are on day 30 and we built on that island only problem is you attacked heaps like soon as you go up the cliff to cut couple trees like 3 mutants come out and then you gotta bail down your zip line when you think they’re gone or wait till the next day. Still fun and enjoyable spot cause you get to play around with traps and all sorts but very slow going in the later days.
Prob doesn’t matter now but if you build a boat or even a raft you can put log holders on it and float them over instead of building a bridge as far as the largest island. This was prob made not long after the game came out
@@lukasunjic750 they are but it's a pain to get sticks there. logs are okay with ziplines and everything but building a base out there is basically just dragging resources off the island... they are safe but it's incredibly boring to build there, nothing ever happens, you take ages to build things and you often run out of water since you just rely on water collectors. if you want a safe build, go to the fertile lands, build off a cliff, or build in the "river" that goes right through the middle of the map (watch out for the walkways through it though, put it a bit away from them, armsies can glitch underwater and mess up your structures) I'd recommend farket's patrol route videos, and his building tips (maybe have a look at the bone farm, the idea of that can make damn safe bases)
Hands down the single best place especially for beginners is the start of the fertile lands by the far eastern end of the lake near the island and the main cannibal base. One side of the lake has trees and sticks and the other has tons of berries/animals and is relatively safe. If you are getting beat up on one side you just cross the lake to the other side and you can transport around the lake on a boat or build a bridge if you can defend it. The only draw back is it can get too easy.
That is where i built my first base. Very safe location but Virgies and Armsys can sometimes spawn on later days. The downside to this location is you are very far from the Western part of the map if you need to go there.
Funny. The first place in this video is exactly where I built, but all I built there was a tree house on the edge overlooking the sea and the little peninsula, and then I built platforms and ropes and two small custom stairs just to get up easier from the beach. The plane crashed right next there for me so it was a natural good place. However I opted against, chopping down trees in my backyard except for a few since I needed them to cover my home from the inhabitants. So instead I went behind their village to the East to chop down all trees I need on occasion and then hightailing them back and just trying my damnest to avoid them all together. I think in total by now, I may have killed like... 10 ( _2-3 that ended up on the beach somehow, 4 bluebois that ambushed me when I was hunting lizards and rabbits, and like 3 that's been around my home and spotted me_ ),but I randomly got the Serial Killer achievement... Which is hilarious, since it means they're infighting pretty darn hard. My last project in my little tree alcov hut setup is to build a house boat so I can escape to some other location. Been at least one Armsy that was dangerously close sniffing around my home.. But it took a good like 15 days before they became more active in my general area.
The problem now is all structures , rock or wood can easily be destroyed by the locals, all traps ,benches so on all destroyed , so the more you build the more they teardown. I think this has taken a lot out of the game. whats the point of spending hours building too have it all gone in minutes.
Because the game isn't about building the biggest base and living there forever? Most people seem to play that way, but there is a story and it's meant to be finished. If you want to build massive structures without worrying about destruction, play Peaceful mode. Or do you feel like you're less of a man that way?
@@smf5576 Peaceful circumvents the threat and challenge inherent in the game. Facing adversity and overcoming is a dominant male trait. So yes, playing Peaceful carries a sociological element whether it is perceived or not. The question I asked is; does that perception matter if choosing to play Peaceful? go on farket's channel , he investigated and studied canibals behaviour and also their paths. the second location your showing is actually on a path. The biggest island one is near a path but they only see you in the upper part of the mainland. They wont come at the little beach next to the island. Turtles will spawn there too. sticks are in the upper part mostly and a big village is also not far away if you want to raid. Open fields are like 40 seconds away if you want to hunt rabbits and lizards
Guys trust me. Head north of the main cannibal village until u find a large cliff and build on top of it. I encounter like one Armsy every blue moon. Not in a patrol route and bountiful food and water.
I live near right next to the plan and the Yaught I like being able to get alot of food and soda because of the plane stuff and yaught stuff but I get alot of enemies wich kinda sucks
I didn't know a thing about this map and game and were scared shitless, so I ran towards that big hole near the crash site. On the south side of that hole there is a ridge next to it, so it forms a narrow passage between the hole and the cliff. I stumbled upon this place and started building a wall on both sides of this passage
yep, never build a bridge to your island base. once a path is there, enemies will start flowing in and the worm thing can get to it even without you baiting it there
I usually build on the mainland right where that big island is. There's that nook under the cliff just south of the beach. Sometimes I build a back-up camp on the island.
I built my first good base at location one,the plane crashed right next to the location so i didnt bother on trying to get items(i only had the plane axe and stuff from thr plane),about 4 days had past without coming across a single cannibal and i built a staircase going down to the beach,i was walking up the stairs to that little dip where it takes you down to the beach,i look up as i was walking and there was a whole gang of cannibals (about 7) just standing staring at me,i have never left a game so fast lol i didnt even get to save
I build on the other side of the river across from the forest near that large island one. Even though it’s near a village the patrols from the main village can’t get there with the river and I’ve never encountered a cannibal at the little village near it
Sweet. This is my first play through of the forest and I had no idea the spot I picked was actually one of the best places (the first one). Feels good man. Also highly recommend the VR version of the forest. Looks amazing maxed out with highest supersampling in oculus tray tool.
Hey Broadbent not sure how often you read comments on older videos, but some where near that boar area along the shore left of the twin rivers there's a bunch of cannibal homes that have a long ramp into each one even has red paint, do you think a port base would be nice? In an emergency the cannibal homes are nice indestructible shelters.
not a glitch, there are some patrol routes coming out to that tree; I'd recommend building a wall about 30 metres away from your base and lining it with deathfall traps, they deal with mutants pretty effectively

I have a playlist for me and my friend for the forest and we are doing amazing in the forest and we have a base infront of the yacht and we have a zip line to it and like big storage rooms and houses it’s class
I am currently building my base to the right of that lake and almost every time I wake up from another in game day, I have 6 grey cannibals attacking my base along with 1 to 2 armsies and a virginia
First game I built right next to the plane crash, and my plane crash was the one next to the yacht, not a good idea. By day 15, Virginia’s, cowmen, and armsys would always just be walking straight through my base area, luckily I finished the game by day 17
I havent been able to do that. I play ps4, I had to do them individually . the best trick I found was to create the walking platform by using the custom foundation and spread it large enought to equal several platforms
Near location 1 is a camp and its hella sketchy getting supplies(logs, sticks, stones, etc) when there are like 5 or 6 canibals just watching you and running around😅💀💀

For the island you can use zipline to get the logs across
Thanks mate, this was really helpful
3:05 I live where the great lake is. Right side, close the lake and the sea you see 3 round pieces of land. Left, middle and right. Go to the right one, enemies there don't spawn any time for any reason. I built my stuff without defensive walls and they never spawn. That is the most secure place I've found. Not mentioned on this video tho.
i live on the beach by the yacht (the boat)
Edit: this comment was from 3 years ago, this was my main location because I was verrrrry scared back then XD so I basically camped on the boat for the whole game :/ I wasted so much time omg XD
same
that's probably one of the worst place, because the patrols are very active in this area :/
same, at the first 40 days was everything ok, till I expanded my wall a bit into the forest so I could have trees inside the walls. Worst thing to do, now I have groups of 5 everyday knocking the walls :'/
A lot of food there
@@NoNickNoKick you Can turn off building destruction in the option .
my fav spot to build is the first spot mentioned
For the one second to last, if you create a zip line you can drop logs directly onto the island
How do you get these camera angles? How are you flying in the air?
console commands
gotta say my personal faves are crater/sinkhole and the island with the gun part :)
Island gives no cannibals or armsy/vags/cows. while the sinkhole got enemies above you, and underneath you. (pretty easy to kill)
With the island too, you can build a small raft and place Stick/Log/and Rock storages onto it then fill them, and raft it to the island
Straightforward, clear, and no annoying shit. Thank you. Liked & Subbed sir.
im starting to play again after over a year and u are the best info channel so far :)
Agrhonak this is Farket
3:33 I built my Base on the main Island Close to the small island. There is ins 1 way the enemys can come from.
Just starting out an I built in fertile lands now starting on that island at 3:10
You can use zip lines for logs too.
My friend set me up wish there was a host log dupe he's not in my time zone lol
I cant quite describe my base location but it has deer spawn, trees, lizards, bunnys, racoons, has a beach and almost none canniballs

I need to know this location!

Nice vid +1sub and nice places
My friends and I are on day 30 and we built on that island only problem is you attacked heaps like soon as you go up the cliff to cut couple trees like 3 mutants come out and then you gotta bail down your zip line when you think they’re gone or wait till the next day. Still fun and enjoyable spot cause you get to play around with traps and all sorts but very slow going in the later days.
Prob doesn’t matter now but if you build a boat or even a raft you can put log holders on it and float them over instead of building a bridge as far as the largest island. This was prob made not long after the game came out
Top 6 bases
Farket: FeRtaIL LaNDS
It is the best tho
Yes it is
What about small islands, are they safe?
@@lukasunjic750 Yes, but who would build there? There's almost no resources
@@lukasunjic750 they are but it's a pain to get sticks there. logs are okay with ziplines and everything but building a base out there is basically just dragging resources off the island... they are safe but it's incredibly boring to build there, nothing ever happens, you take ages to build things and you often run out of water since you just rely on water collectors.
if you want a safe build, go to the fertile lands, build off a cliff, or build in the "river" that goes right through the middle of the map (watch out for the walkways through it though, put it a bit away from them, armsies can glitch underwater and mess up your structures)
I'd recommend farket's patrol route videos, and his building tips (maybe have a look at the bone farm, the idea of that can make damn safe bases)
I get logs to the island by my large raft or my house boat
Just let them slide down a zipline from the cliff..
The downside to this location is you are very far from the Western part of the map if you need to go there.
the 2nd location also offers turtles at the coast. Dont know if that was a thing back then but it is now
All of my playthroughs with friends, we always go near the south west of the sinkhole, we have a pond and a big ass flat ground
The problem now is all structures , rock or wood can easily be destroyed by the locals, all traps ,benches so on all destroyed , so the more you build the more they teardown. I think this has taken a lot out of the game. whats the point of spending hours building too have it all gone in minutes.
You also have the ability to turn off building destruction in option menu.
Because the game isn't about building the biggest base and living there forever? Most people seem to play that way, but there is a story and it's meant to be finished. If you want to build massive structures without worrying about destruction, play Peaceful mode. Or do you feel like you're less of a man that way?
@@liquididentity101 Playing on peaceful doesn't make anyone more or less of a man. Your statement however makes you look like a douchebag.
@@liquididentity101 Only in your pea-sized alpha male brain. Get off your high horse and shut up. It's a video game. No need to relate real life to a video game, ever.
The fertile land is so good!
go on farket's channel , he investigated and studied canibals behaviour and also their paths. the second location your showing is actually on a path.
Nice video man !
When you make a base on a island canibals can spawn on them when i played the game i lived on a island a two canibals spawned on my island
I set up my bases at the beach near the yacht and a base near the shipping containers.
I live near right next to the plan and the
Yaught I like being able to get alot of food and soda because of the plane stuff and yaught stuff but I get alot of enemies wich kinda sucks
Is that a good spot
3:40 best ever
I didn't know a thing about this map and game and were scared shitless, so I ran towards that big hole near the crash site. On the south side of that hole there is a ridge next to it, so it forms a narrow passage between the hole and the cliff. I stumbled upon this place and started building a wall on both sides of this passage
The cliff that is shown in your video north of number 5 has been the safest location I have found.
I literally built my base around the plane.
same
Bad ideal that’s where they go by
Mine is on the open rocky plains, next to the katana cave
mine is near the film crew camp it's PERFECT
you'll need good defenses, if you're out in the open like that it can get a real pain in the arse fending them off from all sides
3:15 or make a sipline you can send logs on to it and use so you dont have to worry about transport
yep, never build a bridge to your island base. once a path is there, enemies will start flowing in and the worm thing can get to it even without you baiting it there
I usually build on the mainland right where that big island is.
Even though it’s near a village the patrols from the main village can’t get there with the river and I’ve never encountered a cannibal at the little village near it
I made my first huge base on number 1 location... the best! And the big Canibal´s Camp is near there with lot of clothes, dinamites, sodas and a cave.
The second one was good but idk if my games glitched or some shit but I keep getting spammed with mutant spawns on the beach
not a glitch, there are some patrol routes coming out to that tree; I'd recommend building a wall about 30 metres away from your base and lining it with deathfall traps, they deal with mutants pretty effectively
I was at no. 6 at my first game and it was so peaceful. I had a zipline from a tree platform to my base and from the base to the land.
Excellent movie!
me and my friend always live in an open area a bit near the cockpit. we use turtle shells and a giant rollercoaster to move around
3:05 I live where the great lake is. Look right side of the map, close the lake and the sea you see 3 round pieces of land. Left, middle and right. Go to the right one, enemies there don't spawn any time for any reason. I built my stuff without defensive walls and they never spawn, nor mutants, not cannibals or any. That is the most secure place I've found ever. Not mentioned on this video tho.
I ate half a reindeer heart while watching this
Was it good
Santa disliked that
There’s me building my bace very close to main village 25 days in getting attacked every 3 minutes at least I have loads of feet and arms that help
I have a playlist for me and my friend for the forest and we are doing amazing in the forest and we have a base infront of the yacht and we have a zip line to it and like big storage rooms and houses it’s class
how do you fly like that ingame
You can make a zipline to ball lake and make getting logs a lot faster
Is this a troll? Half of these spots are right on cannibal patrols
was wandering the same thing
I am currently building my base to the right of that lake and almost every time I wake up from another in game day, I have 6 grey cannibals attacking my base along with 1 to 2 armsies and a virginia
Great info, thanks
No problem :)
I thought 2 was a good idea, but the enemies really like going there and I had 10 attacking my shitty shed after day 4
Yeah same for me
Dude I’m getting four mutants spawning everyday on both sides of the beach WTF a Virginia and an armsy everytime
@@itsrya6530 you know were the safe plains are?

How do you build a save point on the water. House boats wont allow it and I like building at the two rocks mid south
Try a bed or shelter in the house boat
nice vid =D
Once you get farther into the he game log distance doesn’t matter when you have Ziplines/
Lol me and my friend are pure strategists our base is in the middle of the biggest cannibal village lmao
Hahahahah no way
if you leave they can spawn inside your base... I think every single cannibal village has spawnpoints, the main one definitely has several.
Well put together, nice explanation and good locations. Love the video dude!
What about the fertile lands
What are the fertile lands
First game I built right next to the plane crash, and my plane crash was the one next to the yacht, not a good idea. By day 15, Virginia’s, cowmen, and armsys would always just be walking straight through my base area, luckily I finished the game by day 17
4:50 I think it's just the best
This is more of a 5 best places to make sure enemies are not near you list rather than a best spots list lol
Gracias Bro!!!! Awesome video.
Which location is better the island or the mainland
Question, I’m playing this on PS4, is there anyway to place multiple platforms at once? Instead of one at a time?
I havent been able to do that. I play ps4, I had to do them individually . the best trick I found was to create the walking platform by using the custom foundation and spread it large enought to equal several platforms
Near location 1 is a camp and its hella sketchy getting supplies(logs, sticks, stones, etc) when there are like 5 or 6 canibals just watching you and running around😅💀💀
