thank you sir very nice of you to say no more fighting between are to great nations just peace and respect for each other next time if we have to we shall fight together
.....I am still soooooooo bloody jealous.... I spent a decade in the U.S. Army.... but you Brits.. you Friggin Limeys.... You do know how to march!!!!! (and I will NOT take away your ability to fight....Great soldiers, Great Army, Great Nation,..... but WOW... you can march!!! lol! )
@@alfjones9081 Hi Alf, it's a lifetime ago since I saw the Citadel , or indeed have been to Plymouth , I was in 42 Commando at Bickleigh Barracks, and the Citadel was The H.Q. of 29 Commando Regiment R.A. I live way up North and I doubt if I will ever go there again, but best wishes to you.
Wow, very good drill! All in step and so damn sharp! What a proud bunch of troops! From Canada, I salute you brave soldiers.. Carrying on a long tradition for the Proud British military. In the War of 1812, many redcoats from Britain died fighting for the freedom of Canada, which did not exists at the time... If not for these brave British soldiers, Canada might have been another United State. The Native American warriors under Tecumseh also did thier part. To both parties, I thankyou!
They join up young, wet behind the ears and 5.2 tall. Give it a year and the are over 6ft and strapping! I dont know what they put in their porridge but it sure does the job! Ive seen it with my own mince pies. Didnt they look great? They are so smart and in step. Well trained. Makes me proud.
I don't feel the need to nor will I defend myself on my comments. They were in response to a sniveling, cowardly comment about our soldiers and I won't tolerate that garbage. America's soldiers over the centuries have shown some of the finest displays of bravery ever, and often for people and in countries not their own. The politics of America's conflicts aside, her soldier's heroism is unquestioned. Bottom line is - I didn't come watch this video to insult your fighting men, DON'T INSULT OURS.
I don't know who it was made the comment about the American soldiers, but I stand with you wholeheartedly in your condemnation; I am British, and our two beautiful lands stand side by side---may they always do so.
I am sitting waiting for the new year of 2012 planning a nice family get together for new years day not worrying about secret police turning up at the door not frightened, spending too much money saying what ever the hell I choose all because of the bravery and courage of people like those in the video .When next you pass a war memorial remember what life could have been like if not for those willing to defend the right they do not fight for glory but for liberty and I for one am grateful.
As an American but they look some seriously dangerous fighting men, I would not want to be on the side they are pointing weapons at. And they look very nice in their uniforms.
Also thank you for being such good allies i will always rember plymouth as i was there in my navy time... ( a lot of good partys in the walkabout) best wishes to you from germany
My son toured Afghanistan in 2013 with 8/9 RAR, due to the government not wanting to upset the Muslims ( then a labour gov ) their march in parade was cancelled and a very very ordinary march in at Enoggera barracks was substituted. I hope for the sake of future generations you will never allow it to happen there.
aye. i fuckn agree. i think if i was in that situation there wouldnt be a whole lot of things i'd rather hear than a steady drum beat getting closer and bagpipes. Sons of the hounds, come here and get flesh!!
Anthony Egan Thats very unfortunate .The royal marines are well supported here in Plymouth as its their (spiritual) home and has been for 250 years along with the Navy.
I second cogidubnus1953 comments lads. You keep us all safe and I along with a multitude of others thank you for that. As an old soldier I for one am very proud of you. God bless you all.
I wish some people in the coments would understand the Royal Marines are part of the Royal Navy and not the British Army. These men are based just outside of Plymouth 42 or Four Two Commando .The history of the Royal Marines dates back to 1664 and they just celebrated their 359th anniversary. The Royal Marines and the Navy have always played a part in the history of Plymouth.
Ashley Bell sorry mate this is the corps of the Royal Marines formed in 1664 deployed in his majesties king Charles 2nd of England's navy. For 352 years the marines have been part of the Royal Navy not the army.
How can you say you're not keen on the silver band, which happens to be The Band of Her Majesties Royal Marines Plymouth, led by Drum Major Philip (Flash) Gordon
I worry about how these lads go fitting back in and eventually discharging and finding employment after everything they give. I really wish them all the best.
This is relevant, but do you think that Scotland should leave the UK? I think our united relationship is strong and should be forever lasting. It should be the one relationship we can rely on :)

I thought that with a line that long there would be a kind of wave going down the line, but the front and back seemed to be exactly the same time.
They are Royal Marines. Anything and everything they do, they do well.
I'm a veteran of 42 Commando, these young men are "the cream of the cream" and some of the World's best fighting men.
Can't argue with that. Proud to have them in Plymouth.
Per Mare Per Terram 👍🇬🇧

Well said and totally true. Bravery knows no country or politics, it is an individual thing and to stand side by side with your mates. All are heroes.
I don't know who it was made the comment about the American soldiers, but I stand with you wholeheartedly in your condemnation; I am British, and our two beautiful lands stand side by side---may they always do so.
Probably the best Military Band of Musicians in The World. God Bless The Royal Marines.
What do you mean probably…??
Wecome home brothers and Semper Fi. N.Catino USMC 1973-77.

i hear you as both Scottish and English i see my self as a British, and we should all be proud of our united nations and the ideals we stand for.

Awesome. I'm so glad to have allies like this. Thanks for being on our side.
Great Soldiers, they deserve better than the comments of the snivelling lefties who would run a mile if they heard a shot fired - well done 42!!
The British still have among the best armies in the world today. All young men should do military training to make them into real men
spectacular sight, our lads back from defending our country, brilliant.
They all look very tough and fit, superb relaxed marching. Exact opposit to the robotic Chinese soldiers!

Not too keen on the silver band...but The Royal Marines? Possibly the most effective regimental unit in the world.
How can you say you're not keen on the silver band, which happens to be The Band of Her Majesties Royal Marines Plymouth, led by Drum Major Philip (Flash) Gordon
Name of the first drum solo?
I worry about how these lads go fitting back in and eventually discharging and finding employment after everything they give. I really wish them all the best.

I agree with your comments - why?
Sometimes I think it easier for the guard regiments, they have a job to go back to after operations.
