Regardless of what uniform he wears he shows his respect for it in his every action. He is the absolutely perfect example of what a military man should be in a situation like this. Much respect to him.
As a British veteran he is a Royal Marines officer. He also has his parachute wings on his right shoulder.
Handsome and friendly man wherever he’s from
He’s not from anywhere he is a Royal Marine
Commando Green Beret, and Lovat Uniform - he is a Royal Marine Officer..........⚓️ !!!
This 'new Zealander ' officer is wearing the uniform , lovats , of the British Royal Marines and the green commando beret !
He is a lieutenant colonel.
The "kiwi" is a Royal Marine as can be seen by the Globe and Laurel cap badge
@@jamesplant9299
Exactly . The Royal Marines Badge is the Only Badge with Two Crowns👍🏻
Australian and New Zealand soldiers have been in the UK training Ukraine soldiers for some time, but that's rarely mentioned in the press! It's good to see they receive some respect, occasionally! They were among the guard for the King's Coronation! 👍🇦🇺🙋
We love our Aussie and Kiwi brothers and sisters in arms, so far apart but still family.
New Zealand Army Personnel have a Red, White & Black Belt of Maori Design & The Hat worn with # 1 Uniform is a Lemon Squeezer with Red Band. The NZ Uniform is Khaki Green. The Only Regiment to Wear a Beret as Part of their Dress Uniform is The NZ SAS & theirs is Sand Coloured. It's a Nod & Proud Symbol of their Part in the Original SAS in North Africa against Rommel in WW2.
NZ Veterans may well have been there, but none of them Would be in Uniform. This Officer, could quite Possibly be from the "Host Regiment" if the Veterans had been Formally invited by the MOD or The British Army. The Timing is unusual for that though, I would've expected an Invitation or Formal Visit to have been closer to 25th April, ANZAC Day.
NZ has Fought with Britain as part of the Empire since 1845 as A Dominion during WW2.
NZ along with Canada, Australia, South Africa & India & was a Founding Member of The British Commonwealth from 1931 - 1949. In 1949 India declared Independence from Britain & The British Commonwealth was Dissolved & Became The Commonwealth of Nations to Allow India to Remain & The New Republic of Pakistan to withdraw. The only Founding Nations to remain in The Commonwealth of Nations & Recognise the British Monarch as their Head of State are Australia, Canada & NZ. India, Pakistan & South Africa are "Limited Members as to be Full Members the British Monarch must be recognised as the Head of State.
As A Kiwi, I'm Proud that our Small Country, with a Population of Just over 5 Million has Stood with Britain in time of War, when Britain Called NZ Answered. Our Association with The British Armed Services has been Built on Mutual Respect & Spilled Blood & We Will Continue to Stand with Britain when she Needs Us.
Good post Vicky. You say at the end that "We Will Continue to Stand with Britain when she Needs Us." I think that whole concept is breaking down down. What 'standing with' means, what 'need' means etc. Quite clearly there are forces working in the other direction. Much love to you and all New Zealanders from Britain.
@@jimmyhillschin9987 Hello Jimmy, Thank you for your Kind Words! I agree with your Comments regarding Standing With in Times of Need. The Britain of today is Far different to the Britain NZ fought with in WW2, but at the end of the Day, the Emotional & Ancestral Links still Remain & we have an allegiance to The Monarch of Great Britain or the UK, whichever you wish to Call it. We are Pretty much as far away from the UK as is possible, but the White People who Settled in NZ in the early 1800's were from England, Scotland & Ireland, so those ties are hard to Forget. Our Country is Bigger than the main Island of the UK, our Population of about 5 Million, is less than a main City. We are far enough away from anywhere to be concerned about Military threat & we retain a Small Defence Force, we do our bit around the World as Peacekeepers & Humanitarian Aid. Realistically, in terms of Standing with Britain, we'd be like the concerned friend, standing behind with a First Aid Kit. We have Troops in Afghanistan, working with the UK Force, we have Men Power & we use it to help, Proudly. Much Love & Respect to our British Cousins From NZ!
As an ex NZ Army soldier we also wear the same beret with uniform , not only the lemon squeezer
Thanks for the history lesson . Many Yanks do not know any of it .
@@georgesheffield1580 Hello George, You are most Welcome. NZ & the USA have a Great History too. During WW2, Large Numbers of Soldiers, Sailors & Airmen called this Country home for a few Months, while Training & later Many wounded Men came here for a peaceful place to Recover, before heading back to the States. Australia was a Hub for Naval Ships, Airfields & Logistics, NZ was a Giant Warehouse, supplying Food, Wool Blankets, Sox & Cloth for Uniforms. Military Hospitals were set up & staffed by Kiwis. Many Ships plied the Tasman, Delivering Needed Equipment & Reinforcements to Aussie & Bringing Wounded & Troops back for R & R & Medical Care. We as a Country was about as safe as you could get in the Pacific, there was no Strategic Value to the Enemy here, we weren't on the way to anywhere. Australia was the Prize in our part of the World & we were just far enough away to be Safe. The People of NZ opened their Arms to Americans, Going so far as to "Adopt a Sailor" every time there was a USN Ship in port, inviting one to stay in their homes & sending them off with Food & Drink, knowing they may never see them again. Our Mothers became their Mothers & for Months After there'd be Letters & Food Parcels following their Ships around the Pacific. Many NZ Girls Married & went to the States after VJ Day. There were Good Bonds & Friendships made. Those weren't Quite Broken over the Years, even when Politics got in the way, the People ignored Policy & honoured the Friendship between them. And that's how it Should Be.
High ranking British Royal Marines officer
He is a RM Captain, so not really that high ranking, and not a Kiwi.
@@williamtraynor-kean7214actually a Lieutenant colonel.
The respect that this solider showed to the family and their little one was excellent.
Not a Kiwi officer, uniform looks more a Royal Marine uniform
Nope, not NZ.
@@jimrolfe552 Yeah Kiwi's sort of stand out with their black and white shoulder patch that says "NEW ZEALAND"
He can be from NZ and be in the royal marines nothing stopping him and all the other veterans that were there from NZ
All those former Royals wore the green lid of the Royal Marines, yes they could have been from New Zealand, but they were Royal Marines, we had a lad from Australia in my squad in 1966. I k ow he now is living back in Oz
The Kiwi officer is a tourist attraction in his own right.
He is a Royal Marines Lt Col
He’s very tall …
New Zealanders .. our cousins … certainly my cousin from Northern Ireland is there … lovely, pleasant, charming chap …… best of the best New Zealanders.
Having the time of their lives … and rightly so … feel these blokes should have an open invitation to st James’ palace … they always dig us out of a hole … as we do for the Americans …
British Royal Marines commandos not new Zealanders
You Can't say that, there have been NZers, Aussies & Canadians Serving in the Royal Marines, there still are. They are however, Royal Marines First & Foremost & whatever their Nationality 2nd. This Particular Officer is Not a NZer. Quite Obviously he's Not a NZ Veteran either as he's wearing a Military Uniform, he must be a Serving Officer. The only Uniform NZ Veterans Wear is Generally a Navy Blue Blazer on which their Medals are Displayed & Occasionally their NZRAF/RAF Wings. They wear Dark Berets with sometimes their Old Regiment Badge & Dark Pants. When they Travel as a Group to an Event, they Generally have a Name & Date of the Event Sewn on their Jacket Pockets. They all look the Same & if it is Organised through the NZ Returned Services Association (RSA) they will wear that Badge & A Small Poppy Pin. Those Trips are for Specific Memorial Events.
congratulations ''London today'' you have managed to get every single thing you say about this video wrong. they are not new zealanders. they are Royal marine veterans. That is not the kings guard paying respect to them. that is the normal { it happens every day } 4pm inspection and dismounting ceremony, .Please stop posting videos you obviously have no idea what you are talking about
goated comment
Why do people like you post on the military when you have no idea what you are looking at ? These are Royal Marines veterans with an RM colonel. Why New Zealand ?
Sadly the Royal Marines Commando uniform of Lovat Green is not readily recognisable. Mistaken often for another countries soldier
When I was in the forces years ago, there was people from all over the Commonwealth serving in the British forces. We’re all the same.
Lovely.
Great Royal Marine proud of him ❤
Foreigners will *never* understand the history behind any of the regiments of the British Army, especially the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. BTW: He's the tallest Kiwi I've ever seen. 👍
I beg to Differ, NZ Mounted Troops Fought with Britain in the Boer War, The Crimea War & the First World War. We Fought as part of the British Empire & in British Regiments. We Gave a Generation to Britain in WW1, Sending a Brigade of Infantry & A Brigade of Mounted Troops Totalling 8,500 Immediately War was Declared & a Total of 29,831 Fighting Troops in Total, with a Further 8,000 Trained Drs & Nurses, those Numbers Don't Sound Much, but at the time NZ had a Population of less than 1 Million, including 50,000 Maori that Britain did not want as Fighting Troops. NZ Lost 16,000 Dead & another 10,000 Wounded, many of whom would Die from the Effects of Mustard Gas. You haven't seen Many Kiwis if that Officer (Who's Not a Kiwi) is the Tallest you've ever Seen. As Most of the White Settlers of NZ came From England, Ireland & Scotland, the Population of NZ has the Same Height Characteristics of those Countries Now.
He's a RM Commando. You can see the Globe and Lion on his green beret and the letters RM on his shoulder epaulettes.
Very proud of this man ( if he is Kiwi or Aussie or even a Brit ) it really doesn't matter, we're always on the same side...So proud !
Lovely man taking time for photos and talking to tourists. He's patient, gets down to the children level he is very tall. A credit to his regiment and his country.
I noticed serving soldiers and retired soldiers in the yard. I'm thinking they are here for a memorial service on horse guards parade ground maybe? One was held recently beginning of May 2024.
Ps: I had a bit more of a think the recent memorial service was for the Marines regiment on Horse Guard they shut the gates from the Yard to the Parade ground whilst the service was still on. To many tourists use the tunnel to get to and from Buckingham Palace.
And he’s got wings …damn
I am a NZ Army Para veteran 11+ yrs and that’s not a Kiwi Officer 😂
Sheeet I never knew I was a New Zealander for 24 years.
The "Eyes Right" was for the Captain of the Guard.
If you're going to post videos about the military please do the right thing and research your material
And in typical fashion, all his lads took the pish when he went back to them lol. Oh he also is not NZ, he is a RM Officer. Get it right and it looks like a normal 4pm change of the guard ceremony to me. If it was a special ceremony then the public would be locked out until after the parade.
Do the guard give an eyes right in the direction of the RM officer normally? Just asking as I didn't notice anyone else there that would have warranted an eyes right command,
@@BrianKnox-dd2pi The eyes right are for the Blues Officer, to the right of the camera (the one that Inspected the parade, is the one who gets the salute, which is the Eyes Right and Gd Comd does the hand salute), they do the eyes right when ever an officer takes the parade. Watch another video without the RM Officer. The parade format is the same. The 2 mounted guys did an eyes left to the Royals Officer who took the parade, not right to the RM Officer! The Public are always shut out if the guards do a "Special" for a visitor! See this prime example th-cam.com/video/zw88z-2Dzgo/w-d-xo.html
1st Class. Well done!
Believe me. This soldier is a British Lieutenant Colonel Royal Marine commando. Green beret, RM Globe and Laurel cap, collar and Lovat tunic buttons. Medals and lanyard. All the true markings of a British Royal Marine. I'm unsure how anybody can confuse him with a New Zealand Marine. The veterans in the background in green berets are all British Royal Marins. The is another officer in the group but I can't make out his uniform and regiment/core I believe to be British
It didn't seem to be anything other than the regular procedure, except that the Kiwis were standing together, and apart from the rest of the spectators. They did have their own seperate view of the horses' 'backs', though! Respect to the Kiwis, anyway - Good people.
I think the Royal Marine Lovats are my favourite service uniform. It just looks so cool.
The only New Zealand thing I saw was an old boy putting a New Zealand infantry beret on a little girl for a photo.
He a Royal Marine officer ( British) 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
The public si very.VERY DISRESEPECTFUL over there silence is what is proper! shame on those who were talking!
Hard to see at times because of the subdued metal of the rank, but he's a Lieutenant colonel of the Royal Marines.
Unless he came across from New Zealand to join the Corp, he is most definitely a Royal Marine
Title seems misleading as it seems to be a Royal Marines officer taking photos with the public and some sort of Royal Marines veteran gathering overlooking the changing of the guard ceremony at horse guards. I see comments saying that there isn’t a New Zealander present so the title is completely wrong, I don’t believe that’s true either. It seems that at 6:21 fourth man from the right you can see a, what looks like, gunner in the Royal Regiment of New Zealand Artillery. This can be identified by the artillery cap badge on the beret, the black and white ‘NEW ZEALAND’ shoulder titles, the unique slight colouration of the New Zealand army dress uniform from the Royal Marines officer on the left, and the lack of Sam Browne belt and pips on the shoulders meaning not an officer and the lack of chevrons on the sleeve meaning probably a private or in the case of artillery a gunner. Anyhow that’s my 2 cents worth.
Kiwis and Aussies wear Khaki uniforms. 1st and 2nd Commando regiments wear green berets
4,26 i cannot help but think thats his Brother standing for a pictur with him. They look a good likeness, Apart from his height.
Our berets are also the same green as Royal Marines
The poster deliberately posts incorrect information as then thousands of people tell them they are wrong. This gives them
Hits in the algorithm and they get more money for their post. Cunning!!
He looks like a Royal Marine to me.
A man that handsome must be a Kiwi. Even if he does wear a Brit uniform and has a Manchester accent 🇬🇧 🇳🇿
That's looks like a Royal Marine officer in his Lovats .
and then people ask hy do you want to serve, why do you believe in people? and maybe people are the incontrol and we all just hope incontrol of the betterhood of life
Tallest dude there!
This is not a New Zealand uniform. I’m Kiwi and have never seen that uniform before. There’s nothing to suggest it is from NZ. . I think maybe it’s from a European country.
UK Royal Marine commando officer...
RED ALERT, RED ALERT... KIWI in the courtyard...
New Zealand army units, mostly Maori, fought alongside South African, Indian and US soldiers throughout Italy. They were the first allied soldiers to liberate Venice, flying the New Zealand flag from the Doge's palace. They were ordered out by the US and sent to fight the Croatian Nazis in Slovenia. They liberated Slovenia but the war ended and they were ordered by the newly formed United Nations to hand over all their positions to Tito's communist forces. If but for the UN, Slovenia could have been free and pals with New Zealand. Where were the Australians? Fighting the Japanese. They had helped to destroy Rommel's army in North Africa. BTW, towards the end of WWI, it was the Australian and New Zealand light horse, the last successful Calvary charge (despite not being proper Calvary and using bayonets - destroyed the German and Turkish defences at Beer Sheeba, thus allowing the British to rule Palestine, ending 1000 years of ottoman rule. This made it possible for the rebirth of Israel in 1948.
Thays one big guy..He is British Army not NZ...I bet he would of been a real handful in a scrap!
Not Army, he’s Royal Marines which comes under The Royal Navy.
@@PokeEyeSlapSlap Yawn!
How can you mix up Royal Marines with New Zealanders
To the original poster….. how’s this turned out for you? 😂
Salute to Kiwi Veteran for his service.
Idiotic description of the video, that is NOT a New Zealand service member! Get your facts right.
What a load of bull shit, New Zealand Veterans?
Royal Marines Lt Col and Royal Marines veterans
@@MJMgreen0303 King's Guards Paying Respect to New Zealand Veterans, where at the New Zealand Veterans then?!
No New Zealanders involved. A Bootneck Half Colonel and a few ex-Royals kicking about though.😀
