I cooked this and it was really good. Instead of making the salted coconut sauce, I repeated the same sauce used for the rice to put on top. I'm 10 years old and I did it all by myself.

I made this 2x in one week! What i did different is put fresh crushed chunks ginger on the coconut mixture. Then I put it back in the steamer and covered it with banana leaves and steam for another 20 mins on very low heat. I waited for about an hour to eat it. It's the best! We Filipinos eat it with sweet mangos and hot chocolate. It's a traditional filipino breakfast! Thank you.😊 and Congratulations on your first born! Adorable baby you have! Enjoy motherhood Pai!

I made this recipes a few times in the last few months. My kids just love it and I can't stop eating when I made it. Thank you Pailin for sharing this recipe. I had mango Thai rice before from a restaurant which my co-workers raved about. But, the rice I made using Pailin's recipe would beat that one many times over. If you are still deciding to make this dish, just do it. It's easy to make and my goodness, it's SO GOOD!

I have made this recipe over and over and always perfect every time. I made today for breakfast. I am a filipino, we make something similar to this. I had added ginger to mine because that what I grew up with! And also, I had hot coco instead of tea or coffee. That’s just the traditional way of eating the sweet sticky rice AKA Puto Maya!

Another fruit this rice is good with is banana, I've tried this, & it works well. I dusted the rice with brown sugar & used my handtorch to caramelize the brown sugar, instead of using toasted mung beans. This was very complimentary to the banana. I'm half thai, and I love this dessert, but the yellow mangoes are only in season for a very short time. So, one day I was talking to my mom about what other fruits might be good with coco sticky rice, and we came up with pineapple, peach, strawberry - well, a lot of berries, actually, but probably not cherries - and aside from fruit, it might be nice on its own with some dark chocolate sauce. But right this moment the yellow mangoes are back in town, so I'm commenting here while waiting for my rice to soak!

Tip: while you rinse the rice clean. You can also use alum rock (if you can find it in your area) to help cleaning it quicker and the grain of rice will be almost translucent which is another desired aspect when you do the Kao Niaw Moon. If not you really really really have to clean it well until there's no starch particle seen in the water. Ps. I love your video. Great job!!!

Thank you so much! I've made this recipe about 2 times (planning to soak the rice today to make it tomorrow) and it's delicious! I had recently traveled to Thailand, where I had a chance to taste the sticky mango rice. Of course, it was great, but I couldn't help but feel as if this recipe produced a much tastier mango sticky rice suited for my taste! Speaking of which, the sticky rice proportion (my favorite) served in Thailand was always almost 4x smaller than the size/quantity of the mangos :(

Hello Ms. Pailin. I have to say I just love watching your videos. You demystify the art of cooking Thai food. Made this for dessert this evening as mangoes just came into season here in Texas. Even if the mangoes turn out to be a disappointment, it will be joyous just to eat the sticky rice with the salty coconut sauce. No more ordering this at my local Thai restaurant and so much better!!! Thank you so much.

Still can't believe how good this was. I doubled up the quantities as we are, how can I put it, good eaters! Was lucky to start with a couple of pretty good mangoes considering where in the world we live (France), but in fact the rice is in my view just as important. Incredible how much of the coconut sauce the rice had absorbed. I would make this every day if I could! I was hoping to come close to what I have had so many times in Thailand, but unbelievably it was better than anything I've tasted over there. I didn't try the purple rice this time, or the mung beans, but maybe next time, I'll give them a try. Love your videos, and now your book too!

I've been eating this for a week nowin Thailand. Can't have enough. Ayutthaya's mango though is different from what they sell in Bankok where Ayutthaya's a little unripe and crunchy whilst Bankok's mango is really ripe and sweet. Eitherway the taste is divine and best to have it from a street food stall.

I normally eat sticky rice without cocoanut and mung bean coz I think sticky rice is fine the way it is but I could still give this dessert another try with it 😊

My husband and I love to put the toasted sesame instead of mung bean but I am sure that I am going to try mung bean next time when I make it! :D Love your videos! I am crazy with thai food, also this is one of cuisine I had it all the time when I was living in Asia. Would you please teach us how to make fried rice with shrimp paste, please?

Pretty good method and certainly the glutinous rice turned out nice soft and a good bite of the rice....just did it 3 days ago.thank you.

I find that it is harder to find fresh mangoes that are purely sweet and soft in North America. Something I've come to expect from Mango Sticky Rice. Can't wait to visit Bangkok again.

    I make it this morning.
But i'dont have mango, so i use ripe avocado.
My avocado not so sweet, and i make coconut sauce 1 cup with 1/3cup sugar.
And the result is sooooooo..... Yummy....😋😋😋
Thank you for the recipe, i really like so much 😆😆😆

The sticky rice flavour is so delicious even though I cook in the stainless steel strainer and big pot. I might decrease the sweetness from 1/2 cup to 1/3 cup of sugar.
I also reheat rice next day in microwave and choose the defrost program and it is still so soft and fluffy.
