I've watched a lot of these videos. We are doing a new build here. You are the first one I heard say how important it is to look at the patterns and matching it up. My little jobs on backsplashes taught me that there is some art in acheiving the right look. Kudos to you sir!
Professional tile setter here. would be easier to do the mosaic in the niche first, then do the tile surrounding the niche. The mosaic is harder to cut perfectly. When you do the tile surrounding the tile could cover the imperfections of the mosaic.
How to make a nich with existing wall newly tiled. My tiler told me it's not possible for the reason the other tiles in place will fall apart bcoz of vibration. Is this true?
@@julyparin4432 There are a thousand variables here. But short answer, you should've had it done with the install. You'll never get it to look right now, even if you COULD pay someone enough to do it.
think drainage.... the water running down the backsplash of the shelf will now run onto the flat piece. If you place the backspash in first, the waterr will run down the back and onto a grout line and the portential for a leak is greater. pick your poison here.
Easy as pie, just practice on scrap. Handheld grinder with a good mesh blade. Good thing is it's an outside corner not inside, so you don't need to make it perfect. Better to cut a a thinner angle and remove more material, because thinset will fill it up anyway.
You should be proud of that! Looks awesome. Wish you showed the saw setup you’re using and whether you did anything to the mitre cuts so they weren’t sharp.
Great job. I would suggest that the next time get a 1/8th thin wedi board and thin set your Mosaic tile to it. When it's dry, you have a perfectly flat mosaic panel to put in your niche...just a suggestion
Thanks for your videos!! I've been trying to explain to my husband what I want and this is exactly it! I will show my decorator as well. Very instructional too - thanks again!
Very nice finish. 2 questions. (1) on the mitered corners, did you leave space for grout, or do you keep the corners tight (wouldn't water potentially get it in), (2) did you use a 60 grit diamond hand pad to soften the edges?

I tried to cut a 12" x 20" niche out of the center of a 3' x 6' porcelain tile using an angle grinder, but the tile cracked when I tried to lift it. Is that something that's generally not done, or is there some trick to it?
I have a very important question. Were the niche interior tiles miter cut also or no they were not? I am assuming because the four borders were already extra 5/8” that they did not need to be miter cut as well?
@@joshrosen6604I just asked this in the comments but I don’t think he miter them since the outside borders already had a miter so it kind of hid it? Or I’m wrong and the inside tiles of niche had to be miter as well the 5/8 or it was just miter at the length of tile needed and didn’t have to add extra 5/8?
What’s the name of the thin set that you use? What’s the water to thin set ratio when you want it thick for mosaics? How much work time do you have when the consistency is that thick? Nope not wrong. Building bathrooms is very artistic! Get the basics right, but the install and the tile layout is all about the setter. That why I love tiling showers:)
Good work cleaning up all the blood from the lacerations induced by the sharp mitered corners of that stone... or am I the only one who finds every sharp edge with my hands, arms and head?

Excellent work! I love watching someone skilled at their craft striving for perfection. NICE!
This is exactly what I was looking for! I even have exactly the same tile, only smaller in size.
Thanks for the video!

Ya but u want the mosaic setting on seal
Professional tile setter that's happy for a vertical tile to sit below and behind a horizontal? Wow...

Would like to see the video of you cutting those miters. Very nice.

Do you have a video showing how you cut those liters in the corner?

Yep, You do can be proud of it! Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Excellent work! Like how you worked to make it all flow instead of slapping whatever up on the wall. That shows serious skill!
Beautiful work! Just wow. Attention to details is just too awesome.
You do beautiful work dude. I love those miters you did on the niche.
excellent work guys. highly skilled.
Looks Good. I’ll try it in the next shower
Nice work! Thanks for the video! Can't wait to use the tips I picked up here on our new shower!
Was it difficult to miter one direction perpendicular from the other direction on the L pieces?
looks good but where are the cuts? you skipped over them?
My guy !! Lol😂 I love the sense of humor
you explained that very well. Thank you
So great!
Amazing work and this dude is funny! They're probably singing silly songs at work all day :D great vibes.
How/when did you miter the bottom wall tiles that make up the niche?
Great video! Even made me forget it's Mitered Corners, not miter corners. 😊
When using a level put a flat elastic band on either end , will keep level from moving 👍
Do you leave room for grout or do you use silicone to seal the joints?
Nice job! Does the corner resin could be yellowing in serval years?
What tile is this on the wall? Would love to purchase it! Could you provide a link by chance?
Didn't learn anything new here but really good work, attention to detail is what separates us in the industry . well done bud!
Nice, good work
Where is that 5/8 past the edges come from? Is it the thickness of the tile?
Is the 5/8" measurement for all tile thicknesses? And, are the wall tile edges at perimeter of niche mitered as well?
What size spacers did you use for your grout lines?
I’m installing the same tile design but 12x24 , what type of thunder should I use
Great video and really beautiful work. How do you mitre the top corners?
Great stuff
This guy's a goof but he knows his stuff I like him
Awesome! Now how can I hire you lol

You ever figure out the answer
Beautiful job
Very nice work.
Did you mean to not patch that drywall screw?
How to make a nich with existing wall newly tiled. My tiler told me it's not possible for the reason the other tiles in place will fall apart bcoz of vibration. Is this true?
Good Job👍
Im assuming the four tiles pieces on the perimeter of the nich are mitered to.
He could have done a better job by explaining and showing that.

The quality of the tile depends but some people like to drill 4 holes in the corners to relieve stress on the rest of the tile from the cut
Wish you showed the cut
Love it
Did you leave a grout line at the bottom of the back of the niche? I didn’t see any spacers.
Hey body nice videos
Very explainable
Where are u located?
It would have been nice to see how you cut your miters.
I have a very important question. Were the niche interior tiles miter cut also or no they were not? I am assuming because the four borders were already extra 5/8” that they did not need to be miter cut as well?
They're mitered. When he lifts the side piece up to show how it will look (freeze at 10:37 mark) you can see the mitered cut.
Nice, but you didn't show how you mitered inside the wall mounted pieces
Did you ever figure it out?

Nice job! Just curious, Is Laticrete your go-to for backer board and waterproofing? Or, do you also use Schlueter products, or others?
Hey it’s either Laticrete or KBRS and Go board.
@@WINNI.Designs are you able to comment on why you prefer these over Schluter? Thanks for responding!!
@@danielfeldman7913 they are already 100% waterproof and no need for the schluter band in the corners.
@@WINNI.Designs I hear you on not needing the Band...but why do you say that Schluter is not 100% waterproof?
Is there anything wrong with using mold proof drywall (green board) ?
Pleasure to watch
How did you cut the tile? Wetsaw, snap tool? Grinder?
I was a late night regretted by my maker's when I posted this question. However, now I am a mere infant. At tiling.... lol.
Great videos
Schluter is nice but mitered corners is the bomb! Do people still say that? Anyway, nice work!
Where are you located.
May be I missed, but wouldn't be easier to install the mosaic first?
He explained it in the video
He installed the mosaic last to prevent water from finding a way behind the tile.

You didn't really show how you made the miter cuts on the tile.😢
that's the only reason I'm here. I can't find a video like that...
Dont you gotta put the back wall first?
Came here to see how he cut the actual mitres in that top left tile!!!
Thank you!
Is it wrong to continue the vain onto the back of the niche? No one will see the sides either.
Nope not wrong. Building bathrooms is very artistic! Get the basics right, but the install and the tile layout is all about the setter. That why I love tiling showers:)

Try wearing work gloves 😊
Sorry you lost me. I know the sides are mitered. Are the bottom and top. I'll watch again. thanks
Hey DM me on IG if you have any questions. I would love to help!
Visually that tile back of niche doesn't work all. Looks out of place.
This says how to do niche with miter corners yet yiy didn’t show us how to cut them. This should have said how to measure niche
