@@GameCubeGalaxy Question. If one pre-ordered Wind Waker back in the day, would they recieve the two back woth both OOT and WW? Or would they be given to you in two separate cases?
I remember being hyped getting Sonic Mega Collection at the time it was about to released in 2002 as I played Sonic 1 & 2 several years prior at a relatives house. Getting a chance to have both games along with the rest of the Genesis series of games was a huge deal for me and remains a sentimental game in my gamecube collection with Sonic 3 & Knuckles being my favorite game of all time. The Midway arcade treasures collections was another case having arcade perfect versions (minor emulation issues aside) of Midway/Williams introduced my love of arcade games of their respective eras.
The Sonic Mega Collection was a big deal for sure, and rightfully so. Such a fantastic compilation of Sonic Genesis titles. I also am a huge fan of the Midway Arcade Treasures series of games. Even despite minor emulation issues, they all played really well for the most part. Thanks for checking out the video!
I just started collecting again and I'm glad sonic is still cheap! I just spent 135 on metal gear solid and 100 on paper mario! It's getting tough out here for the OGs

Thank you man! Yes, this was a video I definitely invested a ton of time putting together. Capturing footage of essentially every game mentioned in each compilation (except Intellivision Lives since it was 60+ games lol) was quite the task, but one I've wanted to cover for a year now. Compilation packages are awesome, and it's a great way to preserve gaming history, and introduce games we may have missed back in the day. The GC definitely had some awesome ones! Glad you enjoyed the video man!

Awesome video! I definitely thought Midway 3 and Pacmania looked like a lot of fun! I can’t wait for the new TMNT collection especially as a Switch collector!

This is the reason why I like games compilations as you have a ton of older games available to play on newer gen systems! I've never owned any of them on GC though... Now as the media storage is bigger like blu-ray discs, I wished that they would do a complete collection on 1 disc like combine both Sonic GC collections into 1 package! A ton of memories on some of those games like Marble Madness, Off Road (both on the NES and the arcade), Mega Man 2 and Sonic 1 just to name a few! Great video and keep up the good work!
Combining these compilations onto a single format like Blu-Ray (or Switch cartridges) would be awesome! I'd love to see the Sonic one make its way to current gen hardware. I really wish I got the Sonic mega collection back in the day. Interesting how Nintendo didn't do many of their own collections outside of Zelda. I'm sure a Mario one would have sold like crazy. Great video mate.
Is the Sonic Mega Collection up in price in the UK? I feel like that's still a pretty cheap one to add to the GC collection here (thankfully). A Mario compilation would have sold like hotcakes if that released for the GameCube! Thanks again for checking out the video man!

Sick I just found this! Sadly some compilations didn't make the cut for the Cube like the Sega Genesis Collection, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection and Alpha Anthology, Atari Anthology, Activision Anthology and Capcom Classics Collections (Bizarre they ain't on the Cube considering Namco and Midway put their arcade hits on the same console).
Outside of that, these pretty much served their purpose allowing people who lack or no longer have access to older consoles or the arcades, give people the ability to play games they might've miss due to console brand loyalty or flew past their radar and allow the younger generation games get a glimpse to what gaming is like pre-2000s. I always try to get as much as I can on Switch with the collections they offered. I have the TMNT Cowabunga Collection, various Mega Man Legacy Collections (I prefer Classic, X and Zero, but enjoyed my time with Battle Network), Street Fighter 30th Anniversary, Sega Genesis Classics, Sonic Origins Plus, Castlevania Anniversary and Advance Collections and Contra Anniversary Collection and I'm pretty much satisfied with those.
Planning to get the Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Volumes, Namco Museum Archives Vol 1 and 2, Pac-Man Museum Plus, Atari collections, Samurai Shodown Collection, Capcom Beat Em' Up Bundle and Fighting Collection, Blizzard Arcade Collection, Aladdin, Lion King and Jungle Book Collection and SNK 40th Collection and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Mega Man Legends and Star Force Legacy Collections, KOF '94 - 2003, Fatal Fury, Metal Slug and Art of Fighting, new Midway and Activison, Legacy of Kain and Earthworm Jim collections. Also patiently waiting for a release date for the Gex Trilogy.
Glad you just came across this episode, and one I loved working on! Yes, I really wish the other compilations you mentioned would've released on the GameCube as well. I do think the Switch has been a brilliant avenue to provide these classics, whether in collection forms or individual releases (Arcade Archives). Oh man, the Gex Trilogy I'm stoked for also! Excellent topic dude! Compilation will always be the best way to preserve and a great bang for your buck! I own many of the ones mentioned here but still some I would like to go back and visit. Hydro Thunder *Cough* haha And where would I be without mentioning the Two Sonic collections? I was super stoked to find the Gems collections! In the mid 2000s shortly after the GC was discontinued I remember picking up a couple of these game compilations. At the time the two I remember buying first were Sonic Gems Collection and Megaman X collection. At the time most people were Megamaned out after Capcom milked the series for years & Sonic 06 kind of tarnished his reputation along with some bad wii games. They were both under $5.00 CAD both cib.

I have all but one of these and I'm getting ready to go for it. I bought guy t these all when I first got my gamecube when they released. I always felt like I got my money's worth when it came to buying game compilations

As I was horrible at arc ade racers I've been on the fence with that one for as long as I remember thinking I may not get as much enjoyment out of it at it's current 25 or 30$ price tag is
I bought Midway Arcade Treasures 3 for PS2 a couple years ago after researching that the PS2 version played the best. Interesting to hear you note that the gamecube version plays better. I have never directly compared them myself but I am always interested in performance comparisons between PS2/GC/Xbox. I might have to pick up the GC version.
Yeah, Midway Arcade Treasures 3 definitely performed worse on PS2. The GC version performed better, while the Xbox version did perform the best. If I can get a way to capture PS2 and Xbox footage, I may do a comparison video in the future! Thanks for checking out the video!
I've always loved these compilation discs! When I was are 15 years old I got super interested in classic Namco arcade games. Namco Museum 50th Anniversary Edition was the PERFECT game for me and I spent so much time with it. I have bought many more of these within the last year or so like Midway Arcade Treasures 1 and 2, Intellivision Lives, Pinball Hall of Fame, etc!

Wow, that’s awesome man! Thanks for sharing your story on how you got into these compilations! Yeah, when I was about 11 years old, I got Namco Museum 64 as a Christmas gift from brother, who had his own copy I played first. I was fascinated by Dig Dug and Pole Position on there, and wanted my own copy. And ever since, I loved getting game compilations for consoles as they kept releasing moving forward.

I've not even heard of a large portion of these besides Zelda, Sonic and Megaman. Nice to see em, and more so your coverage of how fun or faithful to the original releases they are all for game preservation.

I'd actually put off grabbing midway arcade treasures 3 because my mindset was "it's just racing games" and the fact there was only 8 games on there, but you've convinced me to grab it, even if its just for hydro thunder and rush 2049
Haha yeah, many at the time felt Midway Arcade Treasures 3 was too minimal compared to its predecessors, but Hydro Thunder and Rush 2049 are well worth it alone! Hope you enjoy it when you get the game man! Thanks again for checking out the video!
You know I first heard of the Gauntlet franchise and Rampage World Tour through Midway Treasures 2. So you can probably attribute that compilation to the enduring popularity of Rampage even out of the arcades.
It did lead to a fun movie with The Rock after all.

I love Game Compilations and The ones on the GameCube are great. Some of my favorite Game Compilations are: SNK Classics Volume 1, Capcom Classics Collection Vol 1, Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, etc. Great Episode as always GameCube Galaxy.
Also Fun Fact: Midway Arcade Treasures 2 was rated M because of Mortal Kombat and is the only Game Compilation to be rated M by the ESRP.

Great Video! I need the pinball collection. I just got the intellevision one because it was dirt cheap and I have never play those games. I love the retro gaming collections from the gamecube, that's another great reason the gamecube is the best console ever!

I really love Rare Replay on the xbox, playing conkers for that cheap is amazing and it's hd. Oh, also the recent Atari 50 compilation is awesome too as I never had a chance to play on those older consoles.
Rare Replay is an amazing compilation for sure (and honestly one of the few reasons I’ve kept my Xbox One lol). The Atari 50th Anniversary is also an awesome one with a ton of content crammed into it. Glad to see they put Jaguar games on there to play, but wish there were a few more of those games to play on the compilation lol. Thanks for checking out this video!
I had most of these, only one I wish you could have talked about was activision anthology but that was only on the ps2 and pc (with a completely different soundtrack on the PC!) but nice trip down memory lane

I had no idea there was so many compilations from this era. That Namco Museum is something I really want to add to the collection now as I love a lot of those games from when I was a kid,but would appreciate the 16-bit coat of paint.
