A couple of years ago, the developers had a questionnaire regarding the future of LOK. It was a long questionnaire asking what was wanted vs what was definitely not wanted, and would a remaster be something we wanted plus for more entries- continuation of the story or new characters. The success of the remasters will signal to developers how hungry the market is for more games and if they should invest time and money.
The reason we are getting the reMasters is because there was will from both gamers side and developers side to bring the old series back, but there was not enough money to do it with a proper reMake. The latter was in the works until last year (there are concept arts shared that proove this), but was cancelled / paused most likely because of Embracers financial struggles. Instead, Aspyr was hired to do the remaster - they started around July 2023.
It’s important to mention the insane success of the prequel SR comic that was on Kickstarter. Its goal was $25,000 and when it finished, from 8,000+ donations, it reached 5,638% of that goal. ($1,409,702 total.)
@@Citizen_JV I played on Dreamcast so I was spoiled with better frame rate I won’t lie. It was my uncles and he would let me play when I came over to visit. He gave it to me In High school! I was a senior when I beat the SR1 for the first time, I hadn’t done any research so the “to be continued” caught me by surprise! Then I learned about SR2
Well I guess I got a couple of my wishes granted. I really wanted Legacy of Kain Blood Omen 1&2 to be remastered. Hell yeah I'm excited about the remasters it will be released just in time before Christmas.
The second I heard about this I pre-order it so stoked for this I hope we get blood omen remaster or hell even defiance would be a great reamaster I will buy in a heart beat.
So...the "shocking reason" for the remasters is to...update them for a new generation of gamers? I wasted 2 minutes and 46 seconds watching this video and roughly a minute extra typing this comment, I want that time back dammit.
@geminirebirth By the way, I respect your work on multiple of games you've guys made in the past few years and Congrats on 40K Warhammer Space Marine 2's Launch!!
There is no shocking reason, anyone with some sense would understand it makes logical sense to test the water to see if there is money to be made without too much of an investment. Misleading title.
It took them so long because despite owning the IP, Crystal Dynamics are just subsidiary company and could not make a game without their owners approval and financing. And throughout years their owners were: unhappy with sales (Eidos), not understanding the franchise (Square Enix) or willing to do it, but had some financial problems (Embracer).

Title of this video is great example of click bait. Content is crap.
Thanks for the insightful video, it really made me see the topic from a new angle I hadn't considered before.
Much Appreciated. Glad you liked it. I'm very Excited for this as well.
just hoping they are not Ruined like some of the other remakes have been
Agreed
Literally the same exact reason as any other remaster. So "shocking", wow.

No offense dude but you make it sound like there is a big mystery here. A better question would be why it took them so long
