- I bought my first home in the first half of 2022 in the north-west of Auckland. In this video I walk through the home and breakdown some of the costs associated with purchasing and setting it up. First home buyers are largely left to their own devices, so hopefully this video gives you a rough idea of what a first home could look like and costs to set up.

Best vid for first home buyers in nz.
Glad it was helpful!
There is an issue with your downstairs toilet. It should be installed hard against the wall. The skirting board should stop each side of the toilet pan and not run behind it. You should be able to have this addressed under your warranty.
Thanks for letting me know - I’ll get it checked out!
Congrats on becoming a home owner! Thanks for breaking that all down, as a first home buyer one really is befuddled at what extra costs there could be.
Thanks! There's a lot of costs that perhaps go under the radar, especially with a new build like window coverings and heating which are easily in the thousands. Glad you found the video helpful!
Hi Brent,
I really admire you as a vlogger. Very detailed and informative. You have a very nice aura. More blessings to you.
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate the kind words!

Thanks! It isn't always this tidy :D
Thx Brent might buy a house in Auckland now
Good work mate!
Grab some "white spirits" will help to remove the adhesive from those labels left on your appliances.
Thanks! I've always been worried the residue would remain!
Congrats! Looks like Hobsonville
Haha good guess! 😁
Precisely outlined
Thanks for the kind words!

Hi Brent, thanks for replying.
So, we own two properties in Christchurch.
- One existing property which was built in 1970s.
- One new build home - Fletcher which will be handed over in about 4 months.
Similarities:
They are all small two bedrooms houses.
They are all in nice areas.
Differences:
The old building has a slightly larger garden and new build has a very small garden.
The old building has enough space to park 3 cars including garage but new build has only one parking lot.
The old building costs almost half as much as the new build. It applies to the rates and insurance as well.
The new building will require almost no maintenance/upgrades ( AC units, double glazing, insolated...) for the first few years but we are constantly fixing and upgrading the old building.
Can you do a video on nz business taxes and write offs ?
Hi Stephen - it would certainly be an interesting topic! I'll add it to the list!
