    I think the steel tongue drum is now my favorite thing Jupiter has been played on, and that’s coming after I’ve played it with clarinets while I’m on the contralto clarinet. It’s just so pretty on the drum

    I wonder if you could design some sort of contraption with a pair of gloves or some sort of finger attachments, so you have a drum stick on the end of all ten fingers so you could play things like the vibraphone or the xylophone like a piano. Maybe you still wouldn't be able to do all the same chords you can do on a piano because the keys are to big, with to much space in between them, but you'd still be able to do a lot more. Have you ever thought about trying to make something like that?

    Fun fact: When designing the music for the first Zelda game, Koji Kondo was originally going to use Bolero (the third piece played here). They changed it to the theme we all know and love because in Japan, a tune becomes available to use by the public at least 50 years after the composer passes away. How many years has it been in 1986? 49.

    Joe, I enjoy your percussion videos with the cool instruments. Have you heard of Spike Jones? He was a percussionist back in the 1940's and 50's who played novelty music. He played a set of cowbells set up and tuned like a xylophone, and played it extensively on his recordings.You should check him out and try building a cowbell set up like his.

    Jupiter on the tongue drum sounds so mystical, I love it. Nachtmusik on the steel pan though, gave me flashbacks to when I was a child; my family's landline had some preset ringtones, one of them was a chip tune version of Nachtmusik. We assigned that one to either Dad or Grandma, I forget who. But it was someone who called on the reg, so I heard it a lot and it was goddamn obnoxious.
