What tends to happen with the making of a future classic is that the price goes down so low, that people who are in the know buy them. The price is so low that if they are in a accident they get written of and stripped for parts, or the price of doing repairs like on our 3.2’s, the chains, or dsg, that again they get stripped for parts, leaving fewer on the road and the investors car starts to creep up in value. The investor will get the car sorted bodywork wise, buy these cheap parts now, and put the car back to standard, do the chains and the dsg, while parts are available and before garages no longer do that kind of work and you then need a specialist, sit on the car until they get their money back then sell them when they’ve made 20% profit. All of a sudden our 3.2 is a £12k and rising because people think now’s the time, it’s not, you’ve missed the boat, NOW is the time. Look at the prices of Escorts, early Golf’s, even Nova’s, they don’t need to be the desirable ones either, it’s all about numbers. It’s the calm before the storm. Glad you’re enjoying your car, thanks for the upload👍🏼. Just out interest, how many 3.2’s manual and dsg are left on the road I wonder🤔
Love that explanation Philip and thanks for taking the time to comment with such detail. Totally agree with you. I’ve noticed a real shift in the “general” mk1 TTs at shows and events recently. Much less than a couple of years ago. A lot of the “regulars” with the pristine, well looked after cars but much less of everything else. I’m pleased I have the parts to put my car back to standard from the previous owner. It’s a great base to make it a “collector car”. A good website to find out how many are left is www.howmanyareleft.co.uk
Yep it would seem that way. The number on the road varies a fair bit and a couple of years ago was hovering around the 650-700. So quite a bit lower now! A lot are being broken on a daily basis also.
Great video as always, and what a price, even in today’s market you would still fetch more than that for such a nice example. Part of me thinks that that may have been brought out by the bad weather and the cold, it may have previously had a repair at some point, but realistically what TT has not 😂😂
Hi Andy, I bought my misano red one 4 years ago, also the previous owner had aftermarket exhaust, springs, brace, spare set of wheels and roll bars, fortunately he kept the original parts and I put it back to stock except for the h&r roll bars. Got a grand back from selling the other parts.
Hi Lee and thanks for the comment. It’s always a relief when they keep hold of the OEM parts for you to return to stock. Great result! Enjoy the car and hopefully see you at a show in 2025 in the car! 👍
I've just bought my first TT, a MK1 3.2 88k FSH £3.8K. Thrilled with it and OMG that engine tone! Thanks for all the great content, which gave invaluable insight into selection and inspection. Like your Papaya the bodywork needs a a bit of TLC, but no advisories on the last MOT. Happy days!
Sounds like you got a nice one there! Yes they do sound amazing. Thanks so much for the kind words on the channel. It make what I do for the community worthwhile 👍
@@andycharger It's my first car with heated seats. There was a time when, after the Austin-Healey, I valued roll up windows. Then it was electric windows. Now heated seats in the middle of all the eye candy. See my Sunday grin.
I do the same once a week unlike today 7th December all sorts thrown allover maybe tomorrow or Monday but yes a run out to keep things moving and not grinding to a halt.👍
@@andychargernaw just pop an extra 10psi in the tyres to stop flat spots and make sure the petrol tank is brimmed. I do it every year when I take my R8 off the road and no issues.
@ thanks for the info. Extra air is a great shout. Fuel is an interesting one and another good reason not to put E10 anywhere near our TTs. Nasty stuff rotting the fuel lines. Have you got a V8 or V10? Lovely cars! 👍
@@andycharger Thanks, it is pretty great. It's a gen1 manual V10 Spyder. Currently looking for a gen1 TT coupe as a project and always drawn to the VR6 because I miss my mk4 R32. Love the Papaya. If I find a decent Imola or Murple I probably won't be able to pass it up.
Hi Andy. What are you looking for in particular? Whole cars or parts? I am happy to recommend some very good breakers in UK if you are after specific parts.

Thank you mate. I’m sure it would make a good profit. It’s definitely not up for sale unless someone made me an offer I could not turn down!

Definitely a buyer’s market. Have got myself a MK1 in August that cost the previous owner double.
Yes it is a very good time to pick up a bargain! What colour/model did you get?
@ 225 coupe in silver. Love it.
Thanks for the, "Once a week," reminder Andy. I've a 2 mi run to the grocery so it's a gentle trip.
My pleasure Vic. I hope all is well across the pond and the car is giving you trouble free driving!

Yes today was crazy. Stay in the warm and stay safe until the car can be driven. An extra week will not hurt 👍
My TT is now of road for winter CTEK charger probably won’t start it until April
It’s definitely worth rolling it around in the garage by a couple of feet to stop it perishing the tyres in one place. 👍
@ thank you. Would you recommend to start it about every two months?

Can advice on sourcing sourcing. Is it the usual places - autotrader, piston heads, ebay and facebook?

@andycharger whole cars please. Decent condition too. Many thanks for the reply.
