You'd think as someone who does a lot of business with BCA that they'd take a lot more care and do their best for you, it appears they don't really give a crap!! You have the patience of a saint. Best of luck when you do finally sell it, its a great looking car.
A similar thing happened to a trader friend of mine who sent a Tesla Model S to BCA. It was marked down as being a Tesla S, and someone mistook the 'S' for meaning it was a Cat S. The car had no reserve, so it sold for a song. He was not a happy bunny.
Can't believe how - in general - the big vehicle auction houses treat both buyers and sellers dreadfully. As someone who leases cars, I also (unknowingly) sometimes end up dealing with BCA, as they pick up ex-lease vehicles for lots of the big brands. They do that badly, too - customer service entirely on their terms, with no interest in you
Have started watching your channel for a while now…….its good to see the inside of the car trade and how you take ownership of any issues I.e. buy cars back if there are issues with them, not all dealerships are like you I am speaking from personal experience 2 months been waiting for new clutch pedal box and new informative system and wing be done to 2025. Keep up the great work Joe and the team it’s very interesting.
Hello from Ireland, Joe. I don't believe this, BCA should have given you the full price of the Car, this car can never be seen at any Auction, ever. It's a bloody Disgrace, with the Money you give them, Joe. I can't say anymore, I'm Raging bro. 👌👏👏👏👏
These auctions charge enough. The advert should not be published until it has been checked by the seller. Unrelated, I had similar issue with an Energy Performance Certificate: the assessor publishes it online without checking with the customer first. That kind of damage cannot be repaired.
But all the plate changes show in the history and obviously one of the plates has been on a write-off so will always be linked to this car through association.
I would keep hold of it and retail it, Get it detailed take lots of great images and a really good discription make sure it presents very well and it will sell in the New year/Spring for retail money, Don't panic sell!!
That'll sell for a better price come spring , will look good polished up on the pitch aswell...these big companies BCA,Copart etc are too big for their own good and let customers down with silly mistakes like this.
I think you can go back to the original number for basically free, ie refund of the fee if you give up the plate that's on. I'd never send cars to auction, you can always find a buyer. Back in the day I tried auctions to sell, it was a nightmare, no or very low bids, put a fiat into Leeds m/a, had a new exhaust and someone nicked it, put a manta in (!) and it was oh it's over 8 years old so it's no reserve, I did 100 quid, I got back 70. It's same these days, their cars make a fortune, your just cannon fodder with yours, unless your in with them and they'll work for you.
It’s their mistake at the end of the day. But to repeat it not just once but twice is shocking. It has cost you at least £1000 but is this car now permanently marked for future buyers too? Really poor service from BCA.
Hi Joe I don’t really about baca I can see where they messed up, it would have been nice if they had checked with you first time Saying that you sell cars so punting them though auctions in some ways a bit a cop out plus tbh trying to sell a late model 987 in the winter is always a bit of a struggle, it’s not going to sell retail now so it’s unlikely to appeal to trade Having try to sell a couple of my own last year I’m amazed how hard they are to sell for such a really good car I ended up getting hardly anything for mine via auto trader eBay etc. And I have another one now as my weekend car You will sell in auto trader eBay etc but going to have to be price sensitive, the guides are really out on theses most of the time and is very spec sensitive, it’s more of a case of seeing what they are going for online, you do see some traders holding onto them for a long time gathering moss, until they are priced right For some reason 911s don’t suffer this so much plus after march 2006 they get hammered on road tax, the problem I can see with yours is it lookes almost identical to my 2005 model year colour body parts etc it doesn’t Look like most of the later ones which tended to have different colours and some body bits which which made them look a bit more modern, saying that it’s a brilliant car much more solidly built than my 718 Good luck though Richard
I took a car to Aston barclay, I was a cat s, I knew that, girl did an hpi check st away, they only take cat cars in at half cap (reserve) it was a 16 plate jag xe, they wanted to put 1600 quid on it (!) managed to get 5200 off e Bay, so quite a difference. I've had bad dealings with bca (brighouse) I just don't use them at all. Bca and wbac have made a loss of 52 million (I think) so they'll be trying to scank everbody, probably ripping you off and doing one of they're big buyer's a massive favour (maybe)
That must have been super annoying. You’d think BCA would be more on the ball than that. That will be a cracking car for someone for the money and brilliant mileage for a 987 generation 2 of the age. Plus I am fairly certain the gen 2 Boxster/Cayman don’t have the dreaded IMS bearing failure risk, always a worry on the older versions. Be interested to know what the cars service history is though….full no gaps main dealer or specialist independent history always a bonus on the marque.
I won’t use BCA to sell anymore, they’ve cost us a fortune in poor and incorrect descriptions, and in one case hitting a transporter ramp hard at speed in a 2022 Merc E class, that it registered as a front end hit in the body computer, and tried to get us to pay for it to go to Mercedes to have it cleared before auctioning it!! Feel for you dude.
Joe....you can take up as much as my time as you like ....huge fan of the channel and the cars you sell......all out of my price range , but the red Jag XJ is my favourite one of all the stock you have
Fairly soon you’ll have built your industry contacts up enough so you can trade out of stock via social media to other dealers. Would be interesting to see how thus would’ve gone on Trade2Trade or Dealerway.
Pointless sending good cars to BCA December never a good time to sell a convertible come spring values will rise & there’s always a customer out there for a good low mileage Porsche as a toy.
well, if i was in the Uk ..... ( Portugal currently)..... i would be over to you quickly and start talking, great looking car, BCA should be paying you compo! perservere with it, i will be living back in the UK next year, i shall be driving down to you from N-Devon to check it all out!
If I knew a manager at a uk auction site who got £400 for each car from dealers who were tipped of good history cars that we’d put to auction for stock funding and if he could jot down total losses on screen / or flat battery so they were pushed on to the stand !! And appear to most buyers that something was a miss , I’d be regarded as a internet lunatic , so heaven forbid I’d lower myself to such wild accusations 🤪🤪🤪
I have a few mates who do trade plating. Make friends with them. They pick up the cars from ex lease holders motab holder etc, then tip me off and I know where it’s going the reg and I get my bids in.
I'd have not had that original 911 back tbh bud, I'd have fought tooth and nail, when the dust settles your going to be on a massive loss overall, deals like that can really kill your business.
Did i hear the words " STOCK FUNDING" A dangerous situation be very careful it eats money at a alarming rate . You are "DIGING HOLES " getting involved with " 6" owner cars and some of the milagee cars you have . People spending £15 k + do not wants cars with sports team of owners.
@LC-xu3ti There is usualy a reason why cars have so many owners . Each one has found out what the previous discovered. When you are asking £15,000 + you have som explaining to do. As for the "HYPED UP AUTOTRADER VALUATIONS" a work of fantasy and fiction which is not justified in the real world , regardless of any badge . Scribblers who have never run a business.
Nevermind not charging you. They should be compensating you for time and money loss surely?? As you say, mistakes happen.. But the fact you out of pocket because of this makes me wonder if your due more... You wasted your own customers time, you would do more for them wouldn't you?
I want to comment with something constructive we sell around 100 cars here at auction as an independent dealer through Manheim. I can tell you now it’s not easy. You can’t just give them their indemnity fee and expect them to do all the work hours of preparation we put hours into the sale by doing this. I managed to achieve 98% cap clean figure for last year and made some good profits some even to retail margins. This even outperformed some of the main dealer sales at the centre my advice to you get your Cars out of that partner finance section. Think with you’re buying head Joe would you buy a car out of the multi sale vendor sale I probably wouldn’t I know other dealers wouldn’t even because of that perception something wrong with the car why they hiding auction to sell it. Also, my next piece of advice is get your car in a physical auction will achieve much better results and try and set up a vendor account commit to a yearly number under the barrow motor name. Hope this helps
Have those cars gone up in value… 18k for the old shape Boxster S? How much can you buy the new shape for which is much more desirable. It’s the most shocking thing about this video, the value on this car
Joe, can you help Partner Finance at BCA, I buy only 100 not 550/650 a year, I exclude Partner Finance. Do you think the cheaper budget Partner Finance could be ok or back out of a funding program from a small Independent with faults? I leave them thinking the latter, full of faults
No such thing as good news as good news isn't news and kinda boring. I watched a camping dude use a coffin tent not because its was interesting but because I thought he'd have a terrible time up a mountain in the freezing cold rain. He didn't and I was sad.
As has been said already, revert to its original plate, it’s a 987.2 which is desirable but your video explaining how it got wet inside has put me off, so I presume it has others too. Change its identity, don’t tell us the new number and move it on via auction or Porsche specialist, good luck.
Apology - ashmology - these twits harmed your business. They cost you money - and no small amount of aggro. We need a kangaroo court for the little man to go to, put his case and walk out with £2K compensation - just like that! Why can't we live in fairy land? I've had it with the UK.
At least my Octavia is still alive, next story Airbag light on, gonna be fun, 700 euro quoted from VW, mechanic 75 to 100 euro for 2nd hand part, local motor factor 150 euro for OEM, but not VW, part number are matching. which option do I go for.
BCA ! They have many great people working there but Feck me Monkeys and peanuts !!!!! ( but it’s ok …….. BCA boss criticised over 'exceptionally disproportionate' £29m bonus. THE BOSS of British Car Auctions has been criticised by a leading shareholder advisory group for receiving a whopping £29m bonus.) so I’m sure we will be ok 👌🏽
so what is the moral of the story here ? sure BCA got it wrong - admin error repeated, assuming this is a one off failure, if you walk away from them then what ? It's just life I suppose. Some you win......
Absolutely disgraceful.. They should have given you the difference from when you took the car in to when the said three times it was a cat s they are at fault here i think it would be more than a 1000 pounds loss saying cat S Keep the car till summer.. Iam sure someone will see this on the Internet and they will buy the Porsche..Go not let them get away with this mistake.. or are you scared of them not accepting any car you wish to put through the auction in the future.... Appoligise are not what feeds your family your workers you have and the bills you pay...
BCA are taking the piss, totally incompetent, I'd be taking my business elsewhere.
A pack of Boose.
Joe are these people at BCA completely stupid I wouldn't ever do business with them EVER again mate 😮
Win some lose some, he will also profit from BCA mistakes so you know what you get with auctions
I think you did well to keep your cool, Joe.
You'd think as someone who does a lot of business with BCA that they'd take a lot more care and do their best for you, it appears they don't really give a crap!! You have the patience of a saint. Best of luck when you do finally sell it, its a great looking car.
Surely if you sit on this car until spring which is just around the corner it will fly out of the door at a good price especially with low mileage etc
Irish numberplate is doing it no favours tbh 😬
yep needs to buy a British registration for it then it wont get noticed again.
A similar thing happened to a trader friend of mine who sent a Tesla Model S to BCA. It was marked down as being a Tesla S, and someone mistook the 'S' for meaning it was a Cat S. The car had no reserve, so it sold for a song. He was not a happy bunny.

BCA need to be shit on with that type of customer service, as for ‘credit to BCA for not charging’ they should give you a grand for the depreciation👍
Hello from Ireland, Joe. I don't believe this, BCA should have given you the full price of the Car, this car can never be seen at any Auction, ever. It's a bloody Disgrace, with the Money you give them, Joe. I can't say anymore, I'm Raging bro. 👌👏👏👏👏

Thanks for the recap.
Hi Joe
I don’t really about baca I can see where they messed up, it would have been nice if they had checked with you first time
Saying that you sell cars so punting them though auctions in some ways a bit a cop out
plus tbh trying to sell a late model 987 in the winter is always a bit of a struggle, it’s not going to sell retail now so it’s unlikely to appeal to trade
Having try to sell a couple of my own last year I’m amazed how hard they are to sell for such a really good car I ended up getting hardly anything for mine via auto trader eBay etc. And I have another one now as my weekend car
You will sell in auto trader eBay etc but going to have to be price sensitive, the guides are really out on theses most of the time and is very spec sensitive, it’s more of a case of seeing what they are going for online, you do see some traders holding onto them for a long time gathering moss, until they are priced right
For some reason 911s don’t suffer this so much
plus after march 2006 they get hammered on road tax, the problem I can see with yours is it lookes almost identical to my 2005 model year colour body parts etc it doesn’t
Look like most of the later ones which tended to have different colours and some body bits which which made them look a bit more modern, saying that it’s a brilliant car much more solidly built than my 718
Good luck though
Richard
No point getting embarrassed calling a spade a spade …if it is a spade.
Could you change the plate back to the original plate? I think you will sell it easily, maybe in Jan/Feb. Have a great week Joe and team.
So frustrating Joe!
Let's face it many of us love to hear this sort of thing, a guilty pleasure. At least your viewing figures may go up to compensate
Joe....you can take up as much as my time as you like ....huge fan of the channel and the cars you sell......all out of my price range , but the red Jag XJ is my favourite one of all the stock you have
Love your content Joe, and BCA did you wrong, But putting a retail boxster in auction with an Irish plate is a bit silly..
Calvin car diary's might be interested in this car Joe worth a try
If the price is attractive it will sell. I bought my Boxster 981 this time last year
Joe, kick them in to touch

6 owners isn’t high for a boxster of this generation . They change hands a lot

CAT S that m8
£9k mates rate
I’ll pick it up tomorrow 😉
Why do you not sell through a Porsche specialist?
because this chap is also a dealer, and he wants the full money for it, rather than giving a "specialist" £3k
I want to comment with something constructive we sell around 100 cars here at auction as an independent dealer through Manheim.

Take the private plate off and put it through
Very nice, I think my wife would love it!
Lovely car Joe
Thing is joe is this just the standard with a large faceless company 🙈
Have those cars gone up in value… 18k for the old shape Boxster S? How much can you buy the new shape for which is much more desirable. It’s the most shocking thing about this video, the value on this car
Can you put the original number plates on?

Joe, can you help
Partner Finance at BCA, I buy only 100 not 550/650 a year, I exclude Partner Finance.
Do you think the cheaper budget Partner Finance could be ok or back out of a funding program from a small Independent with faults?
I leave them thinking the latter, full of faults
You need to do a podcast with @JayEmmOnCars Joe.
Joe please tell us what happened to the A6 you tarted up 😜
Have you ever considered raffling these off from time to time instead of auction? Or is this not viable for a business such as yours?
Bloody annoying! Wrong time of year but October might not have been..😮
Just bought a 2000 plate boxter s with 92000 miles. What is it worth as a trade in for your boxter?
Nice video as always joe ❤
BCA owe you compo
put the original plate on it.
Why not just take that reg no off? It’s not a particularly good number - that might break the chain
You’ve got to wonder if it was their mistake or something else they were working towards
No such thing as good news as good news isn't news and kinda boring. I watched a camping dude use a coffin tent not because its was interesting but because I thought he'd have a terrible time up a mountain in the freezing cold rain. He didn't and I was sad.

Wow! A bum deal alright.
Simple Joe , BCA worker wanted a Porsche.
Are you not on Calvin’s trade platform
Raffle the boxster.
Do you not get many cars with 1 key I’d spend £250 get a machine then add 2nd key yourself makes big difference 2 keys
Really interesting video, I feel bad I enjoyed it considering how shit that’s been for you.
Look up BCA in the dictionary - they're defined as NUMPTIES.
"Not trying to shit on BCA".......think maybe the other way round.

Have you tried motorway Joe
take the plate off and re present for sale
that's bad news for BCA
Retail it all day long
Absolute joke the incompetence !
Are you sure it's not a Category S ? Nah, but are you sure? OK. 🤣 I know it's not funny really. Maybe just drive it around for a while.
Why not sell cars on T2T , lose to much money in auctions with fees ….
BCA are ridiculous. They should pay the £1000 lost
Try Manheim

They’ve totally destroyed the value of the car, costing you…probably thousands £££. Get em sued.
I think you’ve been to kind to BCA, they never fixed there mistake, made it again twice and cost you money
For goodness sake Joe iron your clothes lmao.
